This post disappeared quite quickly from other sites so here it is for a while anyway.

"WASHINGTON, Jan 11 2014 (IPS) - If people outside the United States are looking for answers why Americans often seem so clueless about the world outside their borders, they could start with what the three major U.S. television networks offered their viewers in the way of news during 2013.

Syria and celebrities dominated foreign coverage by ABC, NBC, and CBS – whose combined evening news broadcasts are the single most important media source of information about national and international events for most Americans. Vast portions of the globe went almost entirely ignored, according to the latest annual review by the authoritative Tyndall Report."

Sad but true. Americans are some of the most abysmally ignorant souls on earth. And far too often proud of it.

Americans are under mind control and information control ... they keep us fighting so hard for the green paper , we don't look up and take survey of our world , only what is directly in front of us at the time ... which is usually CBS, NBC , ABC , NSA, CIA , FBI , DHS , ONI , ATF , DOD, KGB , DOT , ALL parts of the pyramid of power and control , the three letter agencies ... oh and on our downtime , it's full again of the pyramid symbol all over movies, TV, radio , etc ...

Major Parts of World Ignored by U.S. TV News....

....including the happenings to and inside the U.S.

The truth of this became painfully obvious to me when I spent a couple of years outside of the U.S. and got to experience a different kind of news reports (although still controlled to some extent, I'm sure).

When I returned and tried to share my observations with friends and family back in the U.S., most were defensive and didn't want to hear it. They are too busy working and trying to stay afloat financially to care. And, they have become complacent with what is dished out nightly as 'news'.

This is very true, anyone that frequently travels outside of the United States is taken back by the difference in the news. That said most news organization from around the world focus on the news inside their own borders.

The maddening thing about American news organizations is the political agenda that they bring to party. They will overdose on stories that support their agendas. Global warming is the perfect example, they will run weather stories all day long that support global warming and black out all weather news that does not fall in line with their agenda.

Last week I was on CNN's website, on their political page they had a total of 21 stories about Chris Christie, not one story about any other topic on the entire page. It was clear that there aim was to destroy Christie at all cost. They had an agenda and nothing was going to stop them, no matter how ridiculous or over the top they were being.

It is sad that most people (not just Americans) get their news from the mainstream media and for that matter only one source. The vast majority of people never take the time to check facts or read stories with opposing viewpoints.

The only bright spot is that most of these news organizations are failing, the internet has changed the way we get our information. That is why it is vital that we do not allow governments to control the internet.

If you want to hear a good program that discusses news from around the world in an entertaining and insightful manner, listen to the No Agenda Show. It's the "Best Podcast in the Universe" ;)

John and Adam really deconstruct the news. They look behind the curtain so to speak, and are not politically left or right. They don't sell seeds or anything since they are listener supported, which allows them to say anything about anybody. They are great to listen to during a commute.
