QUETTA: Pakistan Customs has launched a probe into disappearance of 500 oil tankers and containers carrying supplies for Nato troops in Afghanistan.

A senior customs official told Dawn on Sunday that 500 oil tankers and containers which had left Port Qasim in Karachi for Kandahar did not reach the Pak-Afghan border near Chaman.

He said that Karachi customs had cleared the vehicles after scanning.

The official said the investigation was undertaken after the Supreme Court of Pakistan had taken suo motu notice of reports about the missing vehicles. “We are optimistic that we will trace the missing vehicles and their documents,” he adde

Trucks go missing because it is cheaper to let US taxpayers pay for new ones, than fixing the old ones.
You know how irritating it can be once the ashtrays fill up. Solution? "Missing truck!"

But... now that you mention it... maybe the Taliban do have a "Provisional Space Brigade" and have set their sites on the X37-B

All those supply trucks which got destroyed in the last weeks ... makes you wonder how easy it actually must be to accomplish such thing and I asked myself if it indeed is that easy why the hell didn't "they" (bad bad taliban ;) ) attacked them earlier? But now 500? Missing? How does one lose 5 0 0 T R U C K S? Just insanely ridiculous. But with that few people actually noticing such news they must still feel like they can just do anything. But it's changing alright.

Point is: military and couting does not go in pair .. especially on one of the largest drug-trafficking routes.
