There are many encounters of UFOs being sighted and intercepted by fighter aircraft. Most of these encounters reported only consider the actually event, and do not take into account the psychological or physiological effect that the encounter of the UFO or unknown quantity has on the pilot, his judgement, and his reaction to the event.
Firstly the psychology reaction to any unknown encounter on the pilot is going to be cause for concern, especially for the military and the defence implications. The reaction not only of the UFO is cause for concern, the reaction of the pilot towards the UFO is also of major importance. This reaction could be a sense of a potential threat from the object itself towards the pilot and his aircraft, a “knee jerk” reaction so to speak.
The physiological effects are various, from blinding lights, extreme manoeuvres involved trying to intercept the UFO, rate of climb, electromagnetic effects and so forth, these also have effects on military pilots.
From the Defence significant standpoint, it could be considered an indirect threat, since these reactions affect the operational ability of pilots against any potential enemy, and the defence of any countries mainland.
