Hello Everyone,
I just got this invitation to join a World Wide Smudge In with the following explanation and I am passing the message for those that would be interested in joining the Smudge In on March 21st.

Friday, March 21, 2014
Time : 12:00pm
Where: World Wide

Description:

Calling all Nations (All Indigenous people ) and our Allies (People of Settler decent) to stand in solidarity with Stephen Bunn who has been told to stop smudging before school.

We are calling all people who smudge to smudge on March 21 to stand in solidarity, take about our spaces to practice our Creator-given right to practice our traditional culture/spirituality as the Creator intended us to do.

Turtle Island was and still is lived on by various Indigenous Nations since time immemorial and we used our spaces for ceremonial practices whether in groups or individual settings.

When we stand in solidarity we let the Creator know we are still here following the Red Road that it had planned for us and no one can stop us from practicing our spiritual ways.

Video in Stephen Bunn's own words what happened:

Also in Regina problems arose for another Native student who smudges. Reported on February 18.

This is another reason why the World Wide "Smudge In" for March 21, 2014 is so important.

Smudging, humm, that's new one for me. But it reminds me of an incident I had 60 years ago in fifth grade. Not being reared in Catholicism, a friend at school had dirt on her forehead. I told her and so I learned she had some rituals that were not the same as mine. That was that, I shrugged my shoulders and we just went on with our recess play.

Times have changed, maybe we need fifth graders as political leaders :-)
