I've already faced 2 Blizzards this winter and now my county is facing
the worst part of this ice storm that's sweeping across the midwest.
I may be down for a couple of days guys, were probably going to lose
power.I have a feeling there are going to be a lot of births come late
summer.lol I will be fine. I'm going to embrace old man winter.
Let us learn to appreciate there will be times when the trees will be bare, and look forward to the time when we may pick the fruit.

it's 28 degrees in walla walla and yesterday was HOT enough to go without coat for a few minutes.
Jagman please take care and don't get cold!
remember tea is lightweight (not sugar tho lol) and a good thing when you are snowed in.
if you have running water still, make lots of green tea etc. try to keep up the immune system!
do you have a sunny window to sit by? :(
my mom said bad bad storm is coming, not sure if she meant her or me or both. she is in PA (brr)
hoping you are ok!

It was 51F here late afternoon yesterday. This late afternoon was 7F. Colorado Rockies - where we are not (so far) getting the brunt of this Arctic winter.

We've got another storm coming up too. BTW, The snow this year looks really weird. Like it's artificial and not real. Need to read that thread here on "fake snow" but never have I ever seen snow look like it has this winter. It melts differently too looking like a 7/11 Slushie. Very strange and disturbing. It never occurred to me that arctic temperatures would have so much of an effect on the overall texture of snow. But apparently it does. Then again, something else may be going on too and I'm wondering what those other factors are.

Oh my gosh :(
does the wind blow hard? i couldn't stand that when i was at sheppard afb.
the wind blew over that damned airfield so hard and cold, i had to make up excuses to run ahead.
I can't imagine what 7 degrees F on a WINDY day would feel like.
Sort of like my gramps used to say during our time in Asia:
"it looks cold today"
grandma: "how can you tell?"
gramps: "the mongolians are running"
LOL and it was true.
we got to see -40 just one week while we were there, and I was amazed at how the math works out to where -40 F = -40 C
you can see that math was not my strong point  :ranger:
(thank you btw)
edit sorry did not see:

yeah that is a good point.
between Fukushima and the jet stream (hot!) changes,
the storm-steerin Gates boats (lol),
and the whole HAARP question etc,
it's hard to know (not to mention CHEMTRAILS [sorry Ted i almost forgot]) what is going on up there or down here.
Like that summer in Seattle when the tomatoes just wouldn't stop dying.
It took some work to figure out what was wrong there.
These contrails were left morning-early afternoon and by afternoon no more natural clear sunshine was getting anywhere close to my house...
It was the big silvery kind that diffuses and the sun looks silver instead of yellow afterwards, and the light is ruined for your garden etc. seemed pretty consistent and easy to see in certain parts of Seattle (near Boeing and Paine Field etc) hmmmm
:(
before my dramafest someone here posted a vid by a different Air Force girl who figured out lots more of the Chemtrail story and was treated like **** by her own friends and family afterward, then made a Youtube video, anyone got that link still?

Thanks Telsa for listing those other factors that may be responsible for the weird snow everywhere. Really do want to check if it's radioactive.. who knows? Maybe it is and I'm wondering if anyone has checked that out yet. Funny script about the Mongolians... that's hilarious!
Snowflower, can't imagine what it's like where you are but for heavens sakes, don't walk out there! Yikes!

im in western pa. and i believe that we are going to be pounded by snowfall. anywhere from 8 to 18 inches. yuk. i'm sick of shoveling and cleaning off my car. plus i have the added irritation of my landlord who will not plow out the alley and the parking lot for our apartment building. so, i have my son lined up to bring in his plow, again, for the third time. i am dreaming spring, i am dreaming spring..........

our gov't is apparently not allowed to tell the truth about anything nuclear.
i bet if something bad was going on they'd just cover it up for 40 years or more, lol :(
i think with some situations it is restricted for many decades (the info),
or worse, the records destroyed @_@ eek!
i read after 3/11/11 that precipitation during nuclear leaks is bad news. the fallout gets superconcentrated into the water/snow.
thyroid damage risk etc. remember how people went nuts for Iodine and it was gone from shelves?
and seaweed was gone too? :(
they were people who were aware of the horrors of certain types of radiation poisoning.
not to sound dramatic, but it's not beyond possible, in our sad modern world, to encounter a situation like this one that is not just an exercise or a classroom setting.!!
someone somewhere probably predicted this, lol
p.s. the snow started in earnest about 10 minutes ago :wizard:
I better go to the store now. brb if possible

I have no idea how you cope with those temperatures- it sounds really challenging, and worse than 115-120F. Having typed that I'm not so sure. Having shelter and having prepared probably helps in both cases. Look after yourselves all those in that dreadful ice storm. I don't have any idea what that actually is, but it sounds dire! So keep warm.

Time for a big pot of soup or a roast perhaps. Stay warm and well my friend

Weather is simply weird this year! It went from the 40's in the morning, dropped to 6 mid-afternoon, then started to climb again. By the time I went to bed last night, it was 26 and climbing. This is just weird.

Jagman, I used to live in Ohio, and the ice storms did create some amazing beauty. I hope you are warm and dry enough to enjoy the beauty. Ellisa - I'll take the cold over 120! I can warm up with firewood. But, keeping cool requires fossil fuel.

Aloha from O-H-I-O... we climbed up to the 30's yesterday afternoon but now, thanks to the storm we had last night, it's like Siberia out there now.... again. A new thick blanket of that weird snow has covered everything in sight and it's clear that everyone is staying put due to a sub-zero windchill factor coming off the lake. The roads here are completely silent, not a car in sight. No question about it, tomorrow will be another snow day for the kids but they are the only ones happy about this latest winter vortex visit. What a winter!

Good luck Jagman, the weather sure has been rather more intense this winter.
I walked to the beer store yesterday because my car wouldn't start ... -42C with the windchill, -28c without ... cooold! (beer was nice and frosty by the time I go back though! ;))
This winter has been crazy, way too much snow, and wild temperature fluctuations (which we often get but this year has been really bad); just before we got this current deep freeze it was +10C. Sure glad I bought proper winter tires this year :)

Hi jagman, How is life in winterland today. I am getting it too. Woke up to thunder and ice hitting windows, now getting pelted with snow. Yuck. Its pretty, but , I am so ready for daffodils and bird nests. It looks like you are getting it much worse up there. Hopefully you still have power? Praying the deep freeze will be short lived.
