"The government has explicitly said the purpose of the bill is to restrict “illegitimate” and “illegal” protest."
Can anyone clarify what an illegitimate protest might be? Lol, is that when you protest about something but secretly are for what you are protesting against?
Maybe you should help me understand an 'illegal' protest? Is that similar to what teachers do every time they protest, do it right around exam time or any other day of the school year? Maybe that could be considered illegal.

I think what they are referring to is... an "illigeal" protest is.... they demand that if you are going to protest, you have to register the protest with the police and government.
"illigeal" protests will be ones that have not been registered
the excuse is going to be because they need to coordinate police etc etc to protect property blah blah blah.
P.S . March in March. See you at Queen's Park this Sunday at 11 if you're in Brisbane :)

Thats pretty much it. Big problem is, and the idea behind this, is that once you try to register they basically tell you that you cant, then they send police down, and even if you are 'peacefully' protesting, even onlooking, they can now say it is illegal, and basically lock you up. its rediculous... but it is how things are going to continue to go...

Yeeers LOOK OUT... here in the State of Queensland the cronyism and strata of nepotism returns to the 'Draconian' Police Sate tactics of the Bjelki Peterson years when Jerry Mandering was used....
The current conservative premier has legislated that no more than 3 may congregate together in a public place and so doing 'may'at the discretionary practice of the police be charged and/or arrested. Supposedly as a strategy to keep bikey members from causing mayhem... but indeed governMENTAL motivations and constrictions are NOT to be believed or trusted, as they are an outright infringement and erosion of our 'freedoms/Rights'. The International Charter of Human Rights does not sanction such behaviours...
Another reason the citizens of Australia should be calling for a Referendom toward the implementation of a National Constitution that conforms basic Rights of citizenship throughout the Federation of States.
But currently yes the virus of that move to prevent protests is being taken up by other states in different forms... not to put to fine a point on it:
WORRYING IN THE EXTREME!
Not surprisingly, this month rallies are planned all over the country to protest against these and other big concerns of the people...
YOU/ME/WE... are allowing all this to slide and consume/alter our personal and National soveriegn(ties)!!!
A ref' to the Victorian Charter for Human Rights:

Freedom goes by by , you must register with the police ??? hey I'm gonna disagree today okay ??? Nope you can't disagree today , only on Tuesdays after 130 , bring your permit and pay your fee , get your license , it must have a current photo , DNA , hair sample , current address , blood type , footprint , thumb print , finger print , 3-d print , and oh yeah , it must be signed only in black ink , or terms of service are null and void , wrong color of pen is punishable by water boarding of your first born on live TV during the soccer match ... yes I went off the deep end and made of bunch of jokes but , really they want you to REGISTER WITH THE COPS TO PROTEST ??? it makes me crazy , so making jokes about it keeps me sane and happy , where is freedom these days ???

When they're tired they can't remember which side they are supposed to be on...
Here's the South Australian Liberal leader telling people to vote for Labor...
ZRIPOLqsGA4
Just remember that we have representative democracy and it is functioning exactly the way it is supposed to. That's the problem with it, it doesn't have to represent the feeling/beliefs/wants/needs of the majority of voters. Just the representatives...
The Liberal platform in Tasmania (we vote Saturday as well) is essentially:
We're not Labor or the Greens so vote for us. We will distract you by bringing back the Forestry Wars so no-one will notice that we don't have any other plans. We're not Labor or the Greens so vote for us. We will cut 500 front line public servant jobs because, well there's no reason other than that's what all the Liberal Governments have done... We're not Labor or the Greens so vote for us. No we didn't cost our promises before the election because of the Carbon Tax, the forests, tourism, the Greens & Labor power sharing agreement and jobs.
We're not Labor or the Greens so vote for us.
The right to protest was central to the Forestry Wars so maybe there's a plan here by William Edward Felix Hodgman and his cronies to introduce some sort of anti-protesting legislation (though it would have a difficult time passing the upper house in Tassie).
Now don't get me wrong, I'm not a fan of the rest of 'em either and I can only imagine the arse about that a PUP run government would make of Oz (Navy changed to Titanic replicas, instead of big pineapples and galah's we would have life size Brachiosaurus, Gina Rinehart on the new $10000 bill that would be introduced due to inflation). So really, we have the system that provides us with exactly what we are supposed to have. Many people are too lazy to do the grass root organising (ignoring Indi, because it's the exception that proves the rule) required to get a broad local grass root representation. That would involve meeting and talking to neighbours and being active in the local areas civil society. Most people are too busy trying to get by and just resort to complaining. The lack of connection in local communities between individuals, well I could spend days writing about that so wont bore...
The recent PUP has also bought the US menace of funding inequality to the forefront. Then there's complaints from the PUP that Tasmania doesn't allow attack advertisements directed at individuals... Really? That's an argument now? I'm sorry but it's not democratic if I can't call you a B!tch and question your parentage...
So sad.
Uhumm, anyway, bit late here so best get off to tha fart sack so I can get mi snagger tamorra for mi vote. Mite go ta tha tip first but, so I can get rid ov suma tha pollie mail I's received. Glossy don't burn good in fire. Ugg.
Remember: Vote early, vote often.:wacko:

All one can say at this juncture, as you Taswiegens wait on the results of the clown parade is:
May they not play dodgy buggers with your vote tally..
and
May the best team in The Game of Farces (chockers full of arses) win!
