So, why are the people in the audience laughing at this? The first 3 might have made me chuckle, but after seeing how many were saying the exact same thing, I'm wondering why people aren't getting the message that something's wrong with the picture.... Maybe Conan was trying to point this message out...

This might be more like an example of mind control, don't you think? This may be why aware people don't trust Lamestream anymore....
What do you all think?

Conan and Craig Ferguson are two talk show hosts who punch enough holes in the veil, in a very tongue-in-cheek way, that you can really see how some of these large media corporations organize things in the background.

That was freaky. I'm sure you'll notice all the different networks represented. One of the best examples ever of programming. And even weird for the Conan show to highlight it. I'm sure few would have noticed otherwise. What's the message: It's okay to go shop? Spend, spend, spend?

Perhaps they're laughing because they have a sense of humor and they can see that it was meant that way.
Talk about paranoia.

I sure hope the audience went home thinking about what it all meant. How can they not? They have a consciousness that knows what's really going on. The truth can be wrapped up in a funny story.
I guess I'm more serious than most people. Paranoid? Probably.... I think I'm justified....

If you're unable to see that this is proof that firstly the mainstream media is governed and manipulated by one source and secondly that they are programming people into materialism, then I really do feel for you. You are more lost than most.

There is a simple explanation for this phenomena:
1. 24-hour news channels need lots and lots of content. They are also profit-making corporations, so they don't want to spend money on hiring investigative reporters (time, travel, resources, money) and teams of people to make good content with intelligent discussion on different viewpoints. The model used of having viewer-friendly presenters in the studio, some people in the field turning up at an event, filming it and sticking a mike in anyone's face who will actually talk to them, and calling in experts to give soundbites is one that works well in terms of being profitable, especially if the presenters and people in the field acquire celebrity status.
2. All political parties, large organisations and large corporations employ PR people (they are given various names). A large part of what a PR person does is to write up and send out press notices. These form a huge part of the content that is used on these 24-hour news channels. It is free and it is voluminous.
I don't watch TV, but I do check written news media every day. I also have access to a number of press releases. Here is how it works: a politician publishes a press release. Within half an hour, a dozen news sites have at least one article on that press release, but written in such a way that it is nor clear that they are simply paraphrasing the press release and passing it off as a news article.
It is a bizarre way to make money because the press releases are usually very easy to understand and the reporters add nothing of value. Why not just reprint the press release? Often six different news outlets (not owned by the same corporations) will even use the same headlines, and as for the paraphrasing ... not identical but exactly the same thing said by each one.
Unless something is clearly stated as an opinion, don't trust anything you read that does not have attached footnotes and references (and then check the reliability and bias of the sources). TV is about entertainment, not reliable information.
By the way, most of these press releases do not come from ethical people who value the truth and principles such as do no harm and be fair. Most of the press releases are now published electronically and so there is no opportunity for good, well-informed, reporters to ask questions, to challenge what is said in that press release.
As a last note, the press releases from the scientific community are either so dumbed down that they become inaccurate or are completely misunderstood and made inaccurate in the paraphrasing.
We live in a world where stupidity is very highly valued. The title of this thread is very apt: it IS bogus news reporting.
