Archaeologists have found the clearest signs yet that cancer is not only a disease of the modern world.

The ancient skeleton dated back to around 1,200 BC and was unearthed in a tomb found in Sudan last year. When experts analyzed the bones they discovered that the remains exhibited signs of lesions and tumors indicative of cancer.

The find is important because despite the general consensus that cancer is a disease caused exclusively by modern lifestyles, it conclusively demonstrates that people from the ancient world would have also suffered from it.

"Insights gained from archaeological human remains like these can really help us to understand the evolution and history of modern diseases," said research leader Michaela Binder. "Our analysis showed that the shape of the small lesions on the bones can only have been caused by a soft tissue cancer ... though the exact origin is impossible to determine through the bones alone."

It isn't clear what would have given this ancient individual the disease however possibilities include smoke inhalation from wood fires or an infectious illness spread by parasites.

until ca. 1920 diseases such as cancer, cardio-vascular problems, diabetes, etc. were extremely rare at the least; and look at photos/film-footages of people before ca. 1920: by far most were slim, a smattering were a bit plump but no-one whatsoever was obese as we know it in our present world- not by a long-shot;

and back then people fried exclusively with lard/butter;

so what were people a few decades before doing differently?- start with maybe ingesting pharmaceuticals;

and as for archeological evidence: almost all excavated skeletons whether giants or pygmies (and the whole grey field in between) attributed to the mound builders in N. America show they had...perfect teeth-

one's dental "mouth print" says a lot about one's health (why are wisdom teeth labeled such and why are perfectly healthy wisdom teeth the first bogus extraction performed by dentists?- could it be dentists learned bogus info in medical school?- haven't ruled that out)-

as for article: what do we all know about how cancer really affects archeological bones (complete with photos- what a bonus!)?- we don't know diddly-squat;

I repeat: cancer (modern-day labeling) was extremely rare (if it previously existed at all) before the dawn of pharmaceuticals;

not ever yet noticed that any king/queen/emperor/tyrant in past human history died of cancer before the dawn of pharmaceuticals?-

I rest my case-

please be well all-

Larry
