Dmitry Orlov of Cluborlov.com predicts, "The United States right now, from my point of view and the point of view from observers from around the world, is on suicide watch. It's a country that is going to self-destruct at some point in the near future."
On the Ukraine crisis, Orlov thinks, "The Crimea referendum was the first legal way to find out what the people wanted to do." Orlov goes on to say, "In Washington, in the Obama Administration and in the Kerry State Department, we have absolutely breathtaking levels of incompetence. These people really don't know what they're doing and are dangerous at any speed."

I've traced news articles of the such to the advent of the printing press.
All societies seem to play taboo around this subject in varying degrees.
What I do notice is a sharpening in the divide between the wealthiest of wealthy and the poorest of poor.
The "middle class" is being stretched apart, generally falling to the more poverty-stricken side.
Each year, I order less and less products for my consumer base that would usually be considered "middle class," simply because the demand for such products is quickly fading.
Higher price range items are steadily increasing their presence on the floor space, and lower price range merchandise is being brought in to each retail location by the truckload.
This is of no worry to me, however, as most companies are startling oblivious to this trend, or uncomfortable with such an opposing clientele.

A few people on line have said that collapse is inevitable, but that doesn't mean imminent., Catherine Austin fitts has said to prepare for the slow burn. Compare that with most gold and silver bugs who have been talking about collapse since the year 2000.
It is very hard to say when and if the US will collapse. If interest rates go up then the banks will not be able to pay their interest swap derivatives and they could collapse, but the US and UK banking regulators have put in place rules for "bail ins" so savers who are now classed as insecured creditors could lose their money. In cyprus this was supposed to be people with over $100,000 but in effect it is everybody, they have lost about 48% of their money and even now a year later can not withdraw all their funds. But look at people who have put all their money in gold and silver they have lost about a third of their money.
I think that you have to tread a middle path, have some supplies and gold and silver, but not crazy amounts, aim to be a little more self sufficient. When the US came off the gold standard in 1971 she could have collapsed then, but didn't so it's really best to prepare but don't worry yourself sick about it.
Some people think that if this happens we will end up in the stoneage
Now me I don't really believe either story fully, i believe that some of it could happen, but not all. If things do happen then it would be btter to be prepared now than surprised at a future date

How much they are ahead or behind, so far, depends on when they got in.

How much they will ultimately gain or lose also depends on when they get out.

Yes, that is true and I also believe that the precious metals are manipulated as well. As Paul craig Roberts has said there is so much manipulation that it is very hard to see what is happeneing and I believe like him that the markets and the dollar should have crashed a long time ago, but they haven't and the manipulation goes on.

Precious metals are definitely manipulated, in my opinion, as well as much else.

one scary thought that I have is that this is going on exponentially and with such things they end very quickly. As an example if you have two flies in a bottle and they double every minute and after one hour the bottle is full of flies, at what time would the bottle be half full? the answer is one minute before the hour ends. Another thought is that people don't really understand the figures that people speak about , a million is a big number and a trillion is bigger. The reality is if you spend a hundred thousand dollars a year then after ten years you have spent a million, but if you spend a million dollars a day from the time of Christ to today you will still have money left today and the US is $200 trillion in debt
