vehicles and basically war gear.

Riot police clashed with protestors in Albuquerque, N.M. who were angry over
police violence. In response to the March 16 shooting and killing of a homeless
man, the protests started peacefully but later became violent as night came.
Heavily armed riot police using tear gas and batons forcefully ended the protests.
Lindsay France speaks with RT's Ramon Galindo about the problematic record of
the Albuquerque Police Department leading up to the protests.

Protesters storm Albuquerque police HQ as Anonymous targets department over
killing of homeless man by 'cold blooded' officers that was caught on video
Hactivist group Anonymous called on locals to protest homeless man James Boyd's
killing Boy was killed March 16 after having a run-in with police in the Albuquerque
foothills where he was camped out

At least 500 gathered at Albuquerque Police headquarters around noon before
moving on to Civic Plaza and the University of New Mexico Campus
Police showed up in riot gear to contain the protest, and released tear gas on the
demonstration around 9:30pm when the participants became violent
Police made several arrests as they attempted to quell the crowd

UNM students were told to shelter in their dorms while locals were advised to avoid the area

What started as a peaceful protest against the Albuquerque Police Department
quickly turned violent by nightfall with officers in riot gear breaking out the tear gas.

At least 500 people gathered on the steps of the Albuquerque Police department on
Sunday to condemn the recent police killing of 38-year-old James Boyd. Earlier this
week hacktivist group Anonymous posted a video online calling for locals to occupy
police headquarters and take a stand against Boyd's 'cold blooded' murder.

'Let them know that your city is not a place for war games against the homeless
and the less fortunate,' the group said in the video.

While there were no reports of injuries or arrests in the early hours of the protest,
things took a turn as night fell with police using tear gas on the group and making
arrests.

am I the only one that is sickened by the constant showing of this murder? is it possible to talk about this odious situation without showing us MURDER over and over again? I have not seen it and I will not watch it. It is egregious and it is being played repetitiously. I remember feeling the same way about the jumpers of september of two thousand and one. makes me sick.

I agree and would not normally show this type of incident that happens everyday all over the
world especially in crime hit areas and warzones. But this is different , and definitely avoidable.

These are 'law enforcers' not police officers there is a difference and harks back to the wild west.
The situation obviously got out of hand whether thru lack of training or after 3 hrs patience had
waned. The police had enough fire power to refrain a gang let alone one unfortunate, even if
he was refusing to comply. There were alternatives even if they had to shot him in the legs.
Still excessive, but none lethal. How many times did/does this happen without the helmet cam.

Did they forget it was running ? or did they really feel justified with their actions ?
either way lessons need to be learned and acted on quickly. If that means better
training and less confrontation in certain situations at least the camera was recording
it and lets hope they do not cover it up and start having camera malfunctions in the
future.

I am encouraged by the way the locals and nationals are at least protesting
and saying enough is enough. Whether anything is done that's another matter.

Its got to be rising tensions, training and the uniform mentality
that are driving cops to act rashly in situations they are
supposed to be trained to use restraint in. Granted 'in the heat
of the moment' things happen on all sides. But in the camera
age, big brother works both ways. Until they out law it.

‘Videos uploaded to YouTube over the weekend show cops in Arizona intentionally
inciting violence following a basketball game Saturday night by firing pepper rounds
into crowds of students and attacking innocent bystanders.

After the Arizona Wildcats men’s basketball team lost in overtime to the Wisconsin
Badgers, students poured out of bars onto the streets of Tucson to find close to a
hundred militarized cops dressed in riot gear and weilding batons.

The police were deployed, according to officials, in order to prevent damage to
property from alcohol fueled sports fans. The situation quickly broke down into a
violent stand off.’
