Is the US backing neo-Nazis in Ukraine?

"John McCain and other State Department members have troubling ties to the ultra-nationalist Svoboda party

As the Euromaidan protests in the Ukrainian capitol of Kiev culminated this week, displays of open fascism and neo-Nazi extremism became too glaring to ignore. Since demonstrators filled the downtown square to battle Ukrainian riot police and demand the ouster of the corruption-stained, pro-Russian President Viktor Yanukovich, it has been filled with far-right streetfighting men pledging to defend their country’s ethnic purity.

White supremacist banners and Confederate flags were draped SaveFrom.net inside Kiev’s occupied City Hall, and demonstrators have hoisted Nazi SS and white power symbols over a toppled memorial to V.I. Lenin. After Yanukovich fled his palatial estate by helicopter, EuroMaidan protesters destroyed a memorial to Ukrainians who died battling German occupation during World War II. Sieg heil salutes and the Nazi Wolfsangel symbol have become an increasingly common site in Maidan Square, and neo-Nazi forces have established “autonomous zones” in and around Kiev...."

Most definitely. The U.S. wants to be the hegemonic power that controls energy flows and retains reserve currency status. Read Paul Craig Robers, former President Reagan's assistant treasury secretary on this.

Article PCR March 28:

How is it possible that the representative of the war criminal US government can stand before an European audience and speak of “rule of law,” “individual rights,” “human dignity,” “self-determination,” “freedom,” without the audience breaking out in laughter?

Washington is the government that invaded and destroyed Afghanistan and Iraq on the basis of lies. Washington is the government that financed and organized the overthrow of the Libyan and Honduran governments and that is currently attempting to do the same thing to Syria and Venezuela. Washington is the government that attacks with drones and bombs populations in the sovereign countries of Pakistan and Yemen. Washington is the government that has troops all over Africa. Washington is the government that has surrounded Russia, China, and Iran with military bases. It is this warmongering collection of Washington war criminals that now asserts that it is standing up for international ideals against Russia.

John Adams and Thomas Jefferson are rolling and tossing in their graves.

I wonder what TJ would have thought of the Nazis.

Surely some of the Perfectibilist philosophy edged on what Hitler later taught?

Jefferson carefully considered and then rejected basing his philosophy of liberty on any combination of religion and politics

Nope, the SS was a black sun cult and it was all highly religious (cultish) in Germany :( TJ woulda hated them.

I think there is a danger in falling too easily for what may be Russian inspired propaganda, which plays well to the Russian public as an excuse for annexing Crimean territory. Advance polling for May's presidential election indicates the highest-placed far-right candidate is on course to win only a small fraction of the vote.

I agree with kemo. Russian propaganda machine is very strong and effective tool and they had plenty of time to master it. I would be very careful here. Criticism and disappointment with US government is one thing. What Russia is doing and saying is another.

didja know, BP owns almost 20 percent of Gazprom? (I think that's the company -- formerly nationalized)

so when Russia swoops in, BP profits (hedge bet?) even if Middle East cries blood tears.

they let the Nabucco project flop. i posted way back when (few years ago) that Nabucco was doomed and that article got 300 reads that day, lol. I think the investors passed it around the boardroom or something.

oil/gas company worse than hitler? we all get burned by inflated energy prices@@

p.s. the day i first read about Nabucco was probably in 2009.
i remembered it pretty well because after I read about the pipeline project,
i read about theosophy. looked at a very stunning portrait of Koot Huumi.
and then a transformer on my block exploded and put the lights out in the whole condo complex.

so it kind of stood out in my mind. then later i ended up writing about the pipeline because of the "supernatural experience" with KH and the explosion. lol

since then though, not so lol, how many times has this happened, including Macondo?

The film's plot revolves around the assassination of billionaire Sir Robert King by the terrorist Renard, and Bond's subsequent assignment to protect King's daughter Elektra, who had previously been held for ransom by Renard. During his assignment, Bond unravels a scheme to increase petroleum prices by triggering a nuclear meltdown in the waters of Istanbul.

...

Bond accosts Zukovsky at his caviar factory in the Caspian Sea – which is then attacked by Elektra's helicopters. Later, Zukovsky reveals his arrangement with Elektra was in exchange for the use of a submarine, currently being captained by Zukovsky's nephew, Nikolai. The group goes to Istanbul, where Jones realises that if Renard were to insert the stolen plutonium into the submarine's nuclear reactor, the resulting nuclear explosion would destroy Istanbul, sabotaging the Russians' oil pipeline in the Bosphorus. Elektra's pipeline is planned to go around Istanbul, dramatically increasing the value of her own oil. Bond then gets a signal from the locator card from the Maiden's Tower – just before Zukovsky's underling, Bullion blows up the command centre. Zukovsky is knocked unconscious, and Bond and Jones are captured by Elektra's henchmen. Jones is taken aboard the submarine, which was seized by Renard's men. Bond is taken to the tower, where Elektra tortures him with a garrote. Zukovsky and his men seize the tower, but Zukovsky is shot by Elektra. The dying Zukovsky uses his cane gun to free Bond. Bond frees M and kills Elektra.
