Donetsk leaflet: Jews must register or face deportation

Fear replaced communal atmosphere in Donetsk's Jewish community as armed men handed out a leaflet Passover eve calling on Jews register their religion and property with the interim pro-Russian government or face deportation and loss of citizenship.

A leaflet distributed in Donetsk, Ukraine calling for all Jews over 16 years old to register as Jews marred the Jewish community's Passover festivities Monday (Passover eve), replacing them with feelings of concern.

The leaflet demanded the city's Jews supply a detailed list of all the property they own, or else have their citizenship revoked, face deportation and see their assets confiscated.

Donetsk, a Ukraine province with 4.3 million people - 10 percent of Ukraine's population - and 17,000 Jews, is home to much of the country's heavy industry, and is thus the biggest prize of the eastern regions where pro-Russian separatists have captured government buildings in the past week.

The leaflet, signed by Chairman of Donetsk's temporary government Denis Pushilin, was distrbiuted to Jews near the Donetsk synagogue and later in other areas of the city where pro-Russians activists have declared Donetsk as an independent "people's republic", defying an ultimatum from Kiev to surrender.

The leaflet was written in Russian and had Russia's national symbol on it, as well as the Donetsk People's Republic insignia.

"Dear Ukraine citizens of Jewish nationality," the flyer began, "due to the fact that the leaders of the Jewish community of Ukraine supported Bendery Junta," a reference to Stepan Bandera, the leader of the Ukrainian nationalist movement which fought for Ukrainian independence at the end of World War II, "and oppose the pro-Slavic People's Republic of Donetsk, (the interim government) has decided that all citizens of Jewish descent, over 16 years of age and residing within the republic's territory are required to report to the Commissioner for Nationalities in the Donetsk Regional Administration building and register."

The leaflet detailed what type of documents the Jewish citizens would need to supply: "ID and passport are required to register your Jewish religion, religious documents of family members, as well as documents establishing the rights to all real estate property that belongs to you, including vehicles."

If the message was not made clear enough, the leaflet further stipulated the consequences that would come to those who failed to abide by the new demands: "Evasion of registration will result in citizenship revoke and you will be forced outside the country with a confiscation of property."

To add insult to injury, the leaflet demanded the Jews pay a registration fee of $50.

According to Alex Tenzer, a Kiev native and one of the directors of the National Association of Immigrants from the Former USSR in Israel, said: "The Jewish-Ukrainian leadership supports Ukraine's new government, but it's hard to tell whether the leaflet is valid or simply a provocation.

"Anyway, the material is very anti-Semitic and reminds me of the kind of material distributed by the Nazis in WWII."

Emanuelle Shechter, from Israel, received a copy of the leaflet via Whatsapp from his friends in Donetsk. "They told me that masked men were waiting for Jewish people after the Passover eve prayer, handed them the flyer and told them to obey its instructions."

Olga Reznikova, a member of Donetsk's Jewish community, told Ynet that "we do not know if the leaflet was spread by pro-Russian forces or someone else, but it did manage to create quite a fear. This reminds me of texts from darker times. Other members of the Jewish community I spoke with are not afraid, but it is unpleasant.

"I do not intend to register, I am 32, I have lived in Donetsk my entire life and have never had to deal with anti-Semitism until I laid eyes on this piece of paper. Though I take it very seriously, I am uncertain of its authenticity."

Jenia from Israel, who also received the letter from a Jewish acquaintance, said "the Jews in Donetsk are uncertain of anything; it is unclear who is responsible for the leaflet and who controls the city at the moment.

"We don't feel safe like we used to because of the political instability in the area; there isn't a legitimate president or sovereign. Currently Donetsk is ruled by a junta."

In a response to a request by a Ukrainian Jewish website, Pushilin, the interim government's regional chairman, confirmed that the flyers were distributed by his organization, but denied any connection to the leaflet's content.

The US state department will use any unverified, or even downright false, report in social media to leverage their foreign policy in the minds of the people they govern. Even the ADL does not believe this crap. John Kerry has only reinforced the case that he is an embarrassment to international diplomacy.

Now who's trying to destabilize and conquer all the nations, so that they will have less to contend with if the nations unite against their evil deeds?

That's a question in history that's really not been solved, resolved, yet.

With the internet, I wonder if it the info is out there to kinda get a grasp on how large a contender/foe the world will have to seek/hunt/prosecute down and incarcerate them for the rest of their earthly life in a mental institution where they belong, since they like playing mind games.
Hmmm...this kind of prowess always leaves a trail. Shouldn't be too hard to put a "REAL TRUE HISTORY" of what and who's been doing this before the children and grandchildren in the history books. Shame isn't a part of their vocabulary, but truth is for us and our children's future. If they want fairy tales and stories around the campfire, or bedtime stories to pass the time, fine. But our souls journey?
Playing mind games to turn us all on each other, and the ones with the most money, get to declare themselves what? King of the world, where they still scratch and claw for the top and step on the little guy that just wants to live love laugh and learn.

I'm amazed by all the emotional maladjustments of the mind I see portraying by political pundits and so called elite media. It really represents those pulling the strings. Where lies, innuendo, and false testimony and igging people on to war. They use them like puppets, perhaps those who are lying should be labled "pinnochio news media."

In Ukraine capital unknown men have beaten up the leader of a local Jewish
movement. Just months ago the rabbi was seen addressing the crowds in Maidan.
But some Ukrainians seem to have ignored these calls for national unity. As more
and more nazi graffiti appears on the walls in Ukrainian cities and ultra-nationalists
are given key government posts, Kiev's Jewish community feels they can no longer
entrust their safety to the police. RT's Paula Slier reports.

Well thousands have responded to the rise of the right by taking to the streets
across Eastern Ukraine in protest at the interim authorities in Kiev. Donetsk has
seen some of the biggest rallies to demand a referendum on a possible secession.
Activists across Eastern regions say they're making a stand against the fascist
leanings of a post-coup leadership. A group of Israel MPs has written an open letter
to the President of the European Commission. They expressed their concern over
the plight of Ukrainian Jews who they say are suffering from constant attacks. It's
claimed this is a direct result of the rise of nationalists in Kiev. Activists from
Ukraine's Jewish community have also traveled to Israel to seek support.

This is what David thinks of it....

In a chilling echo of the Holocaust, Jews are ‘ordered to register and list property’ in
east Ukraine after pro-Russian militants take over government buildings

‘Jews have reportedly been told to register with pro-Russian forces in the east
Ukrainian city of Donetsk or face deportation.

A pamphlet handed out in Donetsk orders ‘citizens of Jewish nationality’ over the
age of 16 to pay $50 to register and be issued special passports ‘marking the
confession of faith’.

The leaflet, a chilling echo of Nazi persecution, were handed out to Jews leaving a
local synagogue by three men in ski masks holding the flag of the Russian
Federation, Israeli media reports.

Jews living in the area of the self-declared ‘Donetsk People’s Republic’ were ordered
to register at a government building operated by pro-Russian forces or face the
threat of deportation.

Secretary of State John Kerry yesterday condemned the leaflets, which recall the
days of czarist pogroms and Nazi-era persecution of Jews, calling them ‘grotesque’.’

False Flag: Registry Fake Says Ukraine Jewish Advocacy Group

http://www.davidicke.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/israel_mossad_false_flag.jpg

‘The CIA, in collusion with the State Department, is no longer able to pull off
credible false flag operations.

Hours after the Israeli media, dutifully echoed by USA Today, reported on leaflets
demanding the registration of Jews in Ukraine – harking back to similar moves
during the Nazi era – deputy director of the National Conference Supporting Jews
(NCSJ), responsible for efforts in Russia, Ukraine, and the Baltic States, pronounced
the leaflet bogus.

“It’s a fake flyer,” the deputy director, Lesley Weiss, told The Daily Dot. “It’s not
true that they have to register or be deported,” he said after talking with Denis
Pushilin, chairman of the pro-Russian Donetsk People’s Government.

The corporate media in the United States had insinuated the leaflets were
distributed by pro-Russians in Donetsk, this feeding into hysterical propaganda
warning of an imminent invasion by Russia of eastern Ukraine. The specter of anti-
Semitism conjured the appropriate Nazi imagery of Kristallnacht and gas chambers
at Auschwitz. It would have dovetailed nicely with the media campaign portraying
Russian leader Vladimir Putin as Adolf Hitler.’

There are some things that I question about the holocaust, I am not anti jewish or a holocaust denyer but some things just don't add up. I know of a jewish language teacher who fled Poland to go to Germany at the time of the Nazi's because of anti sematism in Poland, it also strikes me as strange that the jews were targeted as they had been in Germany for hundreds of years and Yiddish is based roughly around the German language. There are other things as well which do tend to fall into the camp of holocaust denial, however it is a fact that there were no concetration camps in Germany.
That doesn't mean that the Germans/Nazis didn't do terrible things, but could anti semitism be more widely spread than we know? I mean I had no idea that nazis were still walking around the Ukraine, and especially with their faces tatooed. They could not do that in any place in western europe and in some places they could even be imprisoned. Remember this is a fomer soviet bloc country and yet we have nazi's?.....I suppose it could easily be a put up job, like wmd in Syria was, but Russia Today does tend to be more honest than the western media

It's a pity they could not limit it to Zionists, where the real danger may lie

Hello Aheb

You raise some interesting points: please don't fall into the trap of believing that asking questions about the holocaust equates to holocaust denial! There is a world of difference between the two.

Yiddish is based roughly around the German language.

Linguists have analysed Yiddhish for decades, and the conclusion is that it has largely Germanic grammar and vocabulary is mixed with Hebrew and Aramaic, and sprinkled with words from Slavic and ancient Romance languages.

Columbia University is in the midst of a massive research project, tracing the origins of the many dialects of Yiddish. Even a cursory glance at some of the information they have put out shows it is a truly fascinating and mind glowingly complex topic - and one that, at the moment, seems to be based on opinions and speculation rather than fact.

One thing seems to be clear: Yiddish is not merely a "mixed-up version" of German, but has the same Germanic roots as the German language.

...however it is a fact that there were no concetration camps in Germany.

How would you define "concentration camp"? Do you accept the standard definition? Namely: "a camp in which people are detained or confined, usually under harsh conditions and without regard to legal norms of arrest and imprisonment that are acceptable in a constitutional democracy."

If so, your statement is incorrect. The first ones were established in Germany in 1933 to detain opponents of the Nazi regime.

You must have heard of Bergen-Belsen http://bergen-belsen.stiftung-ng.de/en/home.html and Dachau http://www.cc-memorial-site-dachau.org/gedenkstaette/english/index.html - they were on German soil, along with Buchenwald, Dora-Mittelbau, Neuengamme, Flossenburg….the list is HUGE.

Remember this is a fomer soviet bloc country and yet we have nazi's?

Yes. History is never simple.
