Looks like we had another 6 pop. The USGS says Solomon Islands but I think Santa Cruz is just a little south of that. It's unsettled in that area. My geography is not the best but I have two globes in my house. We live in exciting times I guess.
I was sitting here thinking and it does seem rather odd but a lot of these earthquakes seem to be occurring between 7 and midnight at night. This page alone showed 27 earthquakes above magnitude 6. But after I look at that 2200 to 2300 the ten to midnight range I find 5 quakes. And if I look between 1900 to 2100, I see 7 more quakes. So 12 quakes occurred in this time frame.
I checked the prior page which lists 27 big earthquakes and I find 4 occurred in the 2200 to 2300 hours and if I look between 1900 and 2100 I find 5 more which is 9 quakes. I fudged 1 quake that was just after midnight.
Seeing that there is 24 hours in the day I expect about 1.125 quakes/hour with these figures. So....from 7 to midnight a five hour time frame I expect about 5 maybe 6 earth quakes not 12 or 9. I think this is a recent change.
We appear to have already had 56 large earthquakes this year already that's crazy.
