Sounds lovely!

However, the time fram here is 40-50 million years ago, so Antarctica may not have been so near the pole at that time.

Absolutely, I definitely believe this article.
The time scales of 40-50 million years is "incorrect" IMHO but doesn't distract from the assertion of the article.

All from the science of sea shells, pretty awesome.

In ten thousand years they will find the fossilized pizza box with the "morning crusts" and spend lifetimes arguing whether the contents were actually eaten and whether round or square. They will have experts too :-)

It doesn't seem to have moved that much.

Geologist can look at lava flows and can tell what latitude they formed at because the iron bearing minerals align themselves with the earth's magnetic field. Their inclination tells their latitude of origin.
