On Momday May 5th, I was in my house having coffee with my mother
when I started choking. I stood up out of my chair and put my hands
above my head to try and get a breath. That was the last thing I can
recall until I awoke a few minutes later to find my mother was doing
chest compressions on me. She told me later that when I stood up
out of my chair that I stumbled a few steps back and then I fell
forward smashing my head into the concrete floor. She told me that
I quit breathing and she couldnt find my heartbeat. My mother was
trained in CPR so she began breathing for me and started chest
compressions. She said that on her third chest pump that I took a
big breath and I said "what happened?" She was hysterical when
I came too! She told me later that I had quit breathing for almost
2 minutes. I'm doing alright and my head is a little sore but I will
survive. Unfortunately I did not see a light but I did feel at peace.
It was like I was in a real deep sleep.
Oh my gosh! I am glad you are ok! Thank you for sharing! That is crazy.
When you say you were feeling peace, I take that to mean you remember being "out" so to speak?
Also, I hope your mom is ok! That must have been the scariest thing for her.
Welcome back, Jagman.
And kudos to your mum, for saving your life.
Does she feel like she gave birth to you twice?
Wow, man. I'm glad you're okay. That's one hell of an experience.

Holy cow Jag. How scary. What a early mothers day gift, to be able to save your life. That could have had a tragic end. Blessings

Wow incredible. I hope you are ok now. Get your oxygen level up again. Breath deep and steady. What did you choke on? Did the coffee go down The wrong pipe? (as my mom would say) sounds like your mom needs a hero's party.

OMG jagman! Welcome back! I'm here for the first time in months with a Sun square Pluto transit (life and death, letting go among other things) thinking it's nice to be back feeling better than in a long time from my chronic Lyme disease that i'm treating with Frequency-therapy, herbs and colloidal silver which i can afford thanks to an inheritance from my mother who is on the other side.....

That sounds so weird, Jagman.
Were you choking on fluid or food?
Do you recall having a panic attack before passing out?
I am so glad your mom was there. Holy crap.
Choking is one of my HUGE phobias. My infant sister almost choked to death once on phlegm.
It scared the **** out of my dad. He got her breathing again. We had been driving and she turned blue while choking.
So scary.
Then later my toddler brother choked on banana when I was babysitting 3 kids. We did the Heimlich on him and it came out.
Then in AF BMT, one of the girls at my table in the mess hall started choking on the "last banana in the basket" (greedy) right as she was trying to finish her water and leave our table before we were done eating breakfast. Although she was being a B****, I freaked as soon as she started choking.
The back of my seat hit the floor, and hers was upside down on the floor (I think I flung them away). I tried the Heimlich maneuver on her but wasn't getting it done.
So I yelled at the TI table "I could use help over here she is choking", and a young TI jumped over the tables and ran over to us and saved her life.
The banana piece looked like a grape when it popped out, squished up.
Those are a real choking hazard believe it or not, be careful giving your kids bananas without cutting them in half lengthwise.
:(
It's very rare to get a "positive 341" or "positive report" in Basic Training, but saving someone from choking in the mess hall is a good thing for the base...

You should do something real nice for your mom!!!!!!!
Not sure what, :)
Put some wind in her sails lol
Wow... Glad you are OK now Jagman.
Unfortunately I did not see a light but I did feel at peace.
It is said that regular NDE events are staged by higher powers to steer people who lost their path of incarnation back on track, so you might take it as a sign that you are OK in that department ;).
Anyway.... very happy that you got through it in one piece.
cheers!

it sounds like your body went into some kind of shock/reflex
like asthma but worse (dive reflex?)
p.s. i recall frequent choking on certain medications.

No doubt, your experience of peace is a priceless gift. Now, you’ve got a Real McCoy to draw on if/when things go a'quirky.

Welcome back, jagman!
I guess you were simply not ready to leave the planet yet.
Lucky that your mom was there to re-birth you again - so to speak.
These types of experiences can be very powerful. Perhaps you will find a renewed will to live above and beyond what you had known before. Perhaps you'll think of things to do with your life that hadn't occurred to you yet. Or you simply will enjoy being who you've always been, but with a greater realization of how delicate our bodies are and how fragile physical existence can be.
Best wishes for your return. May you enjoy life more than ever.
With love,
Daughter of Time

Welcome back jagman!
Maybe, just maybe, you are very fortunate NOT to have seen it :)
At least, now, you have your own frame of reference with respect to the matter!
It may be time for you to get a thorough check up so that your mom doesn't feel compelled to keep a permanent eye on you...

That's a good point, Jagman did you let a doctor look at your head where it hit the ground?
Might be a good idea! Don't wanna get an aneurysm or something going. Or a fracture near the visual cortex.

I saved my son's life twice with the Heimlich maneuver. Once from a chicken bone and once from an ice cube. It really does work! And yes, I got hysterical afterwards both times.

First off, ditto's on what everyone said about you being ok. Secondly, how frightening!
Ok, now the part when I let the fart rip.
According to "How Brain Death Works":
[URL="http://science.howstuffworks.com/life/inside-the-mind/human-brain/brain-death1.htm"[/URL]
The brain can survive for up to about six minutes after the heart stops. The reason to learn cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is that if CPR is started within six minutes of cardiac arrest, the brain may survive the lack of oxygen. After about six minutes without CPR, however, the brain begins to die. (See How CPR Works to learn more about the procedure.) Prompt resuscitation allows the physician time to assess and treat the damaged brain. Medication and mechanical ventilation permit tissue oxygenation, but severe brain damage or a prolonged period without oxygen or glucose causes the death of the brain.
So as your mom did start CPR almost instantaneously, looks like you avoided the big D buddy....lucky for her, and lucky for all of us. ;) Please tell me you've been to see an MD.

Funny I had few episodes with choking when I was a child, once I put my face into a sink full of soap bubbles and almost suffocated (LOL) and another time when I was kid I tried to eat a bay leaf in my soup and started chewing and trying to swallow that dam thing and it got stuck in my throat. You just brought those memories back.
Thanks for sharing, thanks to your mom, do you know how lucky and special that makes YOU!!!!!!!!! :) :) :)
And don't worry about looking like Gorbie, we all know your no sell out... (lol) ;)

Wow, I am glad you are ok. My one and only NDE occurred back in August 1997 when I choked on 3 very large cats claw tablets (they sure were horse pills). I tried drinking water and it was completely blocked up so the water wouldn't go down. I knew I need to knock on a neighbors door for help and so the nice couple that lived across the street answered and I pointed to my mouth trying to utter sounds. They did the heimlich on me to no avail, at that point my limbs were getting numb and I tried to stay alive for my young children who were in the house. I lost consciousness on the grass. Thank goodness paramedics were on their way. I did see a light but I also met a guide who told me it wasn't my time yet, complete with a life recall etc; The next thing I came around with the larygn tube in my mouth and medic kneeling over me on the grass.
The *guide* came to check on me that evening. He/she was about 7 feet tall, white blonde shoulder length hair and violet colored eyes. He (felt more like a male) wore a long white robe and was floating a few inches off ground. He appeared in my hallway that night as I was trying to go to sleep.
My nearly 3 year old almost choked this evening on a kale chip. I quickly handed him over to my 23 year old daughter who is a paramedic and she solved it but she said his eyes started to roll upwards at one point.

Good, now you can get on tearing down some walls. They said he needed his head examined too, but that's what Gorbachev enabled.
When my son (now 15) was a 5 month old baby his 2 year old sister gave him a bit of red pepper to chew on - I noticed just in time that he was choking badly and did the gentle heimlich manoevre on him (luckily I'd done first aid for babies as I was a childminder too). I just put him over one hand/arm so he was face down and smacked him on the back with my other hand - it got the pepper up and out! It's sooo scary when you see someone choking badly - especially if it's your son, no matter how old he is! Your poor mum needs a huge hug!!
Really glad you're well and have lived to tell the tale.

It was like I was in a real deep sleep.
You were basically KO'd just no punch haha. Everyone that is 'coming to' after being unconscious always has that same reaction. You can see it in fighters too, when they come to on the mat you can read their lips, "What happened?" Takes them a second for it to set in that they lost the fight. However in your case you beat the Grim Reaper himself, nice job dude!
I can very much relate to the fact it was like a deep sleep. With my epilepsy when I come to it is the exact same feeling. You wake up as if from a nap, and your not sure why there are all these concerned/frightened faces looking at you. Did you have all your faculties immediately available? Meaning could you speak coherently and all that?
EDIT: Oh, and this is tongue in cheek humor, but this thread single handedly smashes the whole 'intelligent design' idea.

I did not have control over all my faculties when I woke up Strat. I felt like I was drunk.
Although I didnt see a any light ( Maybe I wasn"t dead long enough.lol) I really did feel
an extremely peaceful feeling. There was also some kind of self awareness. It's really
hard for me to explain but it has changed my views on the afterlife. I'm no longer scared
of death although I very much want to live!
