View Full Version : We have at least 21 senses, not just 5 senses

We seem to count five senses seeing, hearing, smelling and tasting and feeling. I thought it was 10 adding temperature, motion and acceleration and pain and I couldn't be sure if pressure was number 5. Science is recounting that and putting it more like 21. It was known that Eyes have rods and cones (receptors) Rods for light and dark and cones see colors.
Skin feels more than pressure but senses hot and cold and pain and itchiness as well.
The ear not only sound but motion and acceleration as well.
There appears to be a 5th taste bud, not just sweet, sour, bitter and salt.
We all know we call the sixth sense #6 already for a reason.
Next time I am going to use all 21 or more of my senses. And I am NOT looking at the phrase 'use your five senses' or 'come to your senses' or even 'use your senses' or 'use your sixth sense' ever the same again. I'm going to extend/expand all my senses.
I don't know if this is in the forum anywhere else already.

Being taught that humans only have the five named senses has effectively cut off our ability or interest in exploring all that we have ability to sense. Much of what we "sense" comes in through what we crudely call "emotions", however, that system has been ruined by our insistence to only select out of fear which keeps us locked into "survival state" where our bodies, switch emphasis to the "five named senses", and our emotions mostly just relay fear inspired information.
My 2 cents ;)

These extra senses, IMO, are part of what the Mental Health "gatekeepers" are tasked with controlling.
Wild talents.
You know it.

To be conscient of our senses capacities is like to have a wide vocabulary to describe our outside and inside word. Smelling is not so developped for most of us. I've improved my olfaction for more than 10 years experiencing essential oils, and it's a way to bevelop my whole being, my sensibility, and gives me a deep sense of being alive and connected. If you want, try to smell one thing deeply (without mind lock it smells "good" or "bad", let it enter in your whole body and join the right place it has to stimulate (I felt each scent, at each specific moment has a target), and see wh'at's happening.;)

I don't know if other people have this happen but when I went on a long fast and did not eat, that afterwards my taste buds and my olfactory senses were just incredible, like it just enhanced them so much.

I was just thinking last night that i suspect humanity may be moving toward regaining the ability to perceive energy clearly. If so we will no longer be only responding to what we see hear etc...but also the reality behind it. For example if someone is acting 'nice' but actually feeling angry we could perceive this diference. This level of trasparency would be challenging for most just because we are not used to having to be in our integrity...but i think those who would really be exposed would be those who rely on deception for their power. Most politicians psychopaths etc would appear absurd if percived the energy behind their words. The glamour spell would no longer work.

The momentum behind this shift is unstoppable. but it may take time. Children of the future will keep their instincts intact through childhood and puberty. By present moment awareness, the energies that our instincts utilize will replace old, slow and cumbersome rational based linguistically structured thought.
I can see this already occurring - it started in the late 60s, we had a couple hiccups on the way, but each new generation - despites their flaws, are moving in this direction.
My 2 cents! The future looks ... exciting! (but I'm not saying getting there will be all roses and rainbow flavoured unicorn poop -- it may not be, but I think we'll avoid near total destruction during this shift ;))

Agreed. I have experimented with caloric restriction and I can say that food does not actually need salt! We are so addicted to overeating and MSG enhanced artificial flavours, that our senses adapt to be less sensitive. If everyone just ate really well, (a variety highly nutrient dense foods), I am sure one could cut their caloric by 30%-50% and still have more energy afterwards.

That's the second time this week I have heard someone talking about unicorn faeces ...lol! I'll agree we won't be skipping along eating uni-poop ice cream (luckily :p ). For me this shift is about letting go of illusions and shifting towards truth and integrity....and while these are noble pursuits they are not easy and to walk the walk is a challenge that requires we face our own darkness and inner daemons...which can be incredibly confronting...especially if we have been in denial. In terms of timing I place no bets...I will not be holding my breath, but I also know that things can turn on a dime.
Exciting times indeed :)

Blast it! I was sure I had monopoly on Unicorn poo ... oh well ;) and yes, letting go of illusions comes hand in hand with the shift I describe, and it is a fully personally journey, and it may be difficult for some, and yes, the unseen flow of "underground secretly kept intention" can absolutely turn things on a dime. But we must remain a bit vigilant to ensure this happens in a timely fashion. Another cent ;)

In Scientology there is a view that there are 57 "senses". They are referred to as PERCEPTICS in the materials. I am not sure that PERCEPTICS are in fact the same thing as SENSES, nevertheless it is an interesting list to read through and consider.
The list is contained in a bulletin published in July 1978 included below both as attachment and quoted text.
(FYI - Pretty much all these Scientology bulletins and policies can be downloaded off Wikileaks if you are interested).

Further to the above list, there is much controversy surrounding a development of a Scientology process called "Superpower" in the late 70s.
This document - http://www.xenu.net/archive/SuperPower/Super%20Power-1.pdf - is the recollections of a Dan Koon outlining what the procedure included (along with some of the back story).
Controversy aside, according to this document (linked above) one section of the Superpower procedure was a set of processes to increase one's abilities through the senses. Here is the text from Dan Koon's document (pg 7 if you want to read it in the original document):
Perception Rundown
Amid the hoopla surrounding Super Power, the Perception Rundown is smack dab in the center of it. The reason for this is the many different kinds of equipment and special rooms that have been developed for this part of Super Power.
As is well known in Dianetics and Scientology and in other fields as well, a person’s ability to use one or more of her sense channels can be impaired or blocked by traumatic incidents from the person’s past. Ray Charles was said to have lost his sight at a young age when his brother drowned in a washing tub in front of his eyes; shortly thereafter, overwhelmed by guilt, his eyesight began to deteriorate and he went blind for the rest of his life. Whether or not this is a convenient coincidence to support the claim, nearly everyone recognizes that one’s eyesight or hearing or sense of smell is capable of fluctuating in keenness from day to day, even throughout the day.
The Perception Rundown was designed to sharpen or even restore a person’s ability to communicate with the world through any or all of the 57 sense channels described by LRH in HCOB 23 July 78R, LIST OF PERCEPTICS, which you can find here.
The rundown consisted of first locating and auditing out charge that may be inhibiting a person’s ability to see, hear, smell, touch, etc. Then, once the charge is handled on a specific sense channel, the person drills using that particular channel which puts him more in control of it and can greatly heighten his awareness of communication along that line.
The first part of the rundown simply consists of clearing and assessing the entire list of perceptics and finding the ones that are charged. The mental aspects of the reading items are audited out using R3RA for cases below Clear and recall processes on four flows for Clears and above.
Perception Drills
Once the charge is handled on a particular perceptic, one drills the perceptic to improve the ability to use it. The total amount of direction that LRH gave about how to put those drills together is contained in the previous sentence. It was one line in a despatch saying to drill the pc on the perceptic after the charge had been handled.
RTRC (me, the compiler) undertook a several days long search to find some clue to these drills. The solution was found in materials around the time LRH wrote Science of Survival and the action was to alternate putting one’s attention on the sense channel and taking one’s attention off of it. Simple, when we finally found it.
Say the person had trouble with his hearing. You’d put a ticking clock (or something similar) on the table and have the pc put his attention on the clock (listen to it) and then take his attention off the clock (causatively don’t listen to it). The general idea is to have the pc put his attention on the perceptic channel and take his attention off it and alternate this back and forth to the end phenomena of the process.
From this description of the rundown it seems likely that the perceptions which a person has trouble with (and REALITY on) and which will therefore read are the usual suspects such as sight, sound, touch and smell. Sense channels along which the person has little or no reality will not read, per basic auditing theory.
