Sending love and healing but have the vet check for snake bites. They are waking up now after a long winter and dogs trudging in their way, can get bitten.
Prayers for the dog to be okay. What's it's name Earth Angel?
Comfort and love and healing in His name.

My thoughts and healing energy for you both, shock is scary , last time I had my little bitch go down from multiple wasp stings, conservative care was given and she pulled through- stay calm and send our peace to Red.
Sending light energy of love to your beloved Irish setter and to you.

You too, Sian? Rest in peace, Little Jack. My little guy, Wolfie, passed a little over a month ago. In some respects, it still feels like he went just yesterday.

So sorry to hear of all of these beloved friends passing, as for Wolfie I felt I knew him a little from your occasional mention of him, so very sad for us all, but the sadness is a price worth paying for their unselfish love and companionship given freely during their short lives, I could never be without a K9 friend they teach me so much about all the good things in life.

Thank you so much everyone. Rossa went to the vet about 5 hours ago.....she said his heart beat was 240 and should be less than 100, and his temp was 42 so high fever.....he was still wagging his tail and looking for treats from each vet tech who came in the room......anyway she wanted to put him on an IV and keep him overnight but unfortunately the $1400 bill was just too much for us to do that.....she did blood work and found levels in his kidneys and liver were elevated, some were normal....it was very confusing to me.....she said it would seem he has an infection in the kidneys or liver....he has been given two injections of antibiotics and a prescription for two antibiotic and a pain reliever......he is home now resting and seems interested in the cats food and peanut butter on bread but not his own food.......THANK YOU ALL so much for responding and sending your love and healing energies to us both...lets hope he improves....she did mention he could die in the night (in telling us she really wanted to keep him overnight on IV) ....its horrible that money has to play any role in these things but we are grateful that help was available....not the best way to spend Mothers day ! but again I thank you all very much

If he is not eating his food, I would check it out for contaminates. There have been sporadic cases of tainted pet food which have the same effects on animal deaths. Better to be safe than sorry and seeing he won't eat his food but everything else. IMHO
Peace!
Keep Rossa wrapped in your arms Earth Angel, look in the very depths of his eyes and tell him his Mama's got his back, love's the only language that matters, it's the only power that matters, bless you and keep you safe, stay strong friend
Paula, I send you Much Love too, Our Wolfies and Jacks will always be near, just a breath away.

Don't suppose he was able to get to any grapes raisins or sultanas as I believe they will damage kidneys in some dogs? I expect you already know this, did you find anything in the yard to give you a clue, could he have drunk some green water from a puddle or anything? still sending power and peace to Rossa .http://dogs.lovetoknow.com/wiki/Blue_Green_Algae_Toxicity_in_Dogs

Earth Angel, in your garden do you have Foxglove? I know it can stop the heart, but light doses might cause other side effects.
Cardiac dysrhythmia (also known as arrhythmia or irregular heartbeat) is any of a group of conditions in which the electrical activity of the heart is irregular or is faster or slower than normal.[1] The heartbeat may be too fast (over 100 beats per minute) or too slow (less than 60 beats per minute), and may be regular or irregular. A heart beat that is too fast is called tachycardia and a heart beat that is too slow is called bradycardia. Although many arrhythmias are not life-threatening, some can cause cardiac arrest.[B: 1]

Yes indeed dear Earth Angel. I have come to know that it is better to feed your dog regular food instead of the dog food. It has to much of conservatives and to little of the nutrition. I'm talking about the dry and wet one. We feed our dogs this food assuming it's in their best interest ( and ours mostly) but in the end what we unknowingly do is poison their livers and kidneys. I would suggest a home made diet based on some of the same nutrients we eat (meat, chicken, fish, rice, vegetables, not all, even fruit but some not all) There are some ideas on the web for planing and making your own dog food, they don't need as much as we believe they do, because smaller portions have more nutrients than the portions of the commercial food we buy for them. Hope your baby gets better and better and has a long and healthy life.

hello Earth Angel, sending prayers from my babies (3) to ur baby, i know my large male gets bitten by spiders once in a while and he gets sickly for a day or two, dogs have an incredible resilience to all sorts of things and i have found that the vets mostly just want to jam my wallet, especially the emergency vets , and either fortunately or un-fortunately what is meant to be is whats meant to be, i would do anything for my babies though , anything i could afford or am able to that is, i do keep mine on tri-fexis its great for heart worm/flea/tick/worm issues and is not too expensive, its a meat flavored pill that they usually dont mind chewing up and eating , if not i use peanut butter, lol anyways keep us posted, i hope everything comes out well and things get back to normal, love and light, peace, dennis

I hope your pup is feeling better. Maybe it was an allergic reaction to something? It sure is scary when our furry family members become sick and they can not tell us what is wrong.
My pup had diarrhea and vomited for 3 days when she was 5 months old. She pulled through with a ($300 extortion) trip to the vet. UGH (!) at the cost, but they held us hostage as we feared she had Parvo and had to go through with all the tests.
Sending hope and healing to you and your pup.

Nothing is growing in the garden at the moment Tesla_WTC_Sollution and no new plants for sure..... I did wonder if perhaps it was a spider bite as he was running around happy and healthy the day before with a visiting dog (my daughters so I know he is a healthy dog).....he has so much long fur and its hard to search all over to see if there was a bite somewhere but for certain yesterday the first really warm day the leaves and flowers popped so I assume some spiders etc also came out to play in the garden.
Yes the vets and emergency in particular really do jam your wallet! tnkayaker.....My daughter had $460 to her name in her wallet and told them so when they came with a starting quote of $1400 to see what is wrong, she said I just can't do that this is all I have....and the bill came to $440 with them not charging for some things......she joked she should have told them she had $200!
Its scary as you say seeker/reader that they can't tell you what is wrong and you are relying on the vet and the need for many many tests.
again, My thanks to you all! what a wonderful place to be able to come for help and support.

You may be right, here is what a Black Widow bite does to dogs:
Bites may be dry, with no venom injected. The venom is a potent neurotoxin, opening channels at the presynaptic nerve terminal and causing massive release of acetylcholine and norepinephrine, both of which can cause sustained muscular spasms and paralysis. A dog may be bitten while indoors or outdoors, as black widows are known to frequent both. No one dog is more at risk than another, but young and old dogs are at an increased risk for complications due to their weaker immune systems.
Symptoms and Types
Early, marked paralysis
Muscle tremors and cramping
Abdominal rigidity
Severe muscle pain in the back, chest and abdomen, manifested by howling, whining and loud vocalizations
Trouble breathing, respiratory collapse due to abdominal muscle paralysis
Excessive salivation and restlessness
Increased blood pressure and heart rate
Incoordination and inability to stand (ataxia)
Vomiting - not unusual for a dog to vomit up the actual spider
Diarrhea
Death, if anti-venom treatment is not given quickly
damn vet should have known this!!! imo you deserve some money back

My cat ate tulips once, and it almost killed her. 90 miles an hour to the nearest vet saved her. But it was different symptoms. Total lethargy and made a huge pool of saliva in the center of my bed. I immediately saw the chewed up flowers in the middle of the table and knew that must be the culprit. You just never know what our furrballs will get themselves into. I am so happy he is feeling better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
