Hello Everyone:
I came across a video called "Super Juice Documentary 2014". I always wanted to hear what people thought that were taking juice each day and everyday for long term. This experiment was for 28 days in Portugal.

The interesting part of this documentary is that you can follow people actually juicing instead of hearing reviews by people.

It's a great watch IF you want to get Healthy!

"Fat Sick and Nearly Dead" by Joe Cross is another good documentary.

Just watched the Super Juicer documentary and thought "why the Hell not?" I'll be picking up a juicer today, though I don't have the $120 for the SuperJuicer, I'm sure any ol' juicer should work.

Make sure to get a device that breaks down the cell wall to get even more nutrition. Some of the powerful blenders extract more nutrients than do juicers. Although the Omega brand juicers are hard to beat. Pricey though.

Hello Everyone:
I think juicing is an excellent way to improve health. I only have one problem with it.

When I juice I throw away all the pulp which is fiber. I really hate to do this! In my opinion which is only my opinion I think that using a blender is better because you get to keep the pulp with the juice which is also excellent for you.

What does everyone think about this?

It's a shame to get healthy without all the fiber that can even make you healthier.

I did something similar to this as recent as Dec. 2013. For 14 days(we get 2 weeks off work for the holiday, otherwise this diet would be very hard for me to follow) I only ate raw fruits and vegetables for breakfast and lunch. For dinner I would eat a standard American meal of protein+starch. I also started back in the gym(fruit shake+whey protein afterwards), which is a lot easier after a few days on this diet. The amount of energy you have is profound in contrast to the average American diet.

In those 14 days I trimmed off basically all the fat I had gained at my new sedentary job(gained approx. 25-30 lbs in 12 months). I lost 20 lbs. doing this and began to regain the muscle tissue that had regressed. Ever since this great success I have been experimenting with fruit smoothie+whey protein mixtures. My goal is to develop a diet similar to what I had for those 14 days. However I need to find an equilibrium otherwise I am likely to revert back to the American diet due to time constraints(8 hours+3 hours commute = not much free time).

This is what I've introduced so far and it's working out just fine: 1 banana & 1 apple for breakfast, fruit+kale/spinach(any recommendations here?)+whey protein smoothie for lunch, American dinner. Once I get accustomed to this my next step is to replace dinner with a healthy option, time is the real issue for me here :clock:. I am still finding it difficult to workout as much as I would like(30m cardio and 45m muscle building), which means I am only doing one or the other at the moment. I have some more discipline to attain before I can progress further. However I am really enjoying my new diet even if it does take a little extra work.

Edit: I love having 2-3 of these (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kumquat) as a snack during the day, pop em in your mouth rind and all. The flesh is bitter and the rind is sweet, creating a flavor I love more than any processed candy :thumb:.

I'm with you Chancy. I prefer my blender to the juicer to be able to keep all that fiber and other nutrients.

Ok there is always a lot of discussion of juicing vs blending. The key difference here is that when you juice you take only the nutrients from the food and the liquid......this allows your body to absorb all of these nutrients much easier than when it has to digest the pulp in a blended drink or even more so in food eaten. That is the key , you absorb way more from the juice than from a blended drink so your body gets all the nutrition it needs and you lose weight.
I am a little HANGRY right now (fuppin hungry which is making me fuppin angry!) because I started a 30 day juice fast yesterday. I could eat a small child right now......kidding, Im mostly vegetarian. Anyway I have done this in the past for 17 days straight and lost about 11 lbs I think??? and then it was Christmas......so there goes that weight loss........its over a year now and I am starting again
Omega juicers are well worth the money........or Breville .......there is a difference in a cheap juicer you don't get nearly as much juice from your produce so its worth the money if you can do it........I started with a cheap one my mother loaned me, it was frustrating as hell and didn't give me nearly the amount of juice but it was enough for me to say yes I can do this....bought the Omega and use it every day at least once for the past year and a half.

also the cheap juicer was a pain in the ass to clean and the Omega takes me about a minute and a half MAX......this is a big deal when you are committing to juicing several times a day.....or even just every morning.

Not to mention that the blending action oxidizes a significant percentage of the nutrients, rendering them inert. The oxidation also occurs in a high speed centrifugal juicer, but less so than a blender.

Low-speed masticating (like the Omega) is the optimum method for nutrient retention.

Plus, Chinchillas love pulp. =^.^=

I've been using my Omega juicer nearly every day since I bought it about 8 years ago.
One of the best investments I ever made, but next time, I'm going to get the slightly higher priced one, which has a longer lasting guarantee.
There's no doubt in my mind that juicing is superior to blending in most cases.
One of the reasons why juicing is so healthy and helpful with weight loss is that it takes the body so much more energy to break down solids.
That energy can be used for cleansing and healing instead, and with all the extra nutrients you are getting from juicing, that can be a lot of cleansing and healing, especially if you are doing a juice fast ( I lost 40 lbs. once on a 50 day juice fast and felt incredible the whole time).
I've also heard that a lot of pesticides go into the pulp if you juice, so even if you are juicing commercial produce, you will get less pesticides if you are juicing as compared to blending.
I think it was Norman Walker who said that, though I don't know what evidence he had to base that on.

I slow juice every day for some time now and I consider the fiber issue an almost non issue, you'll still get the fiber, just a bit slower and a bit smaller, so being regular stays being regular, just a different kind of regular, and if you insist, take a spoon, scoop some fiber from the pulp and mix it in with the juice and you are done. I am having no problem what so ever.

Onawah.....can I ask how much juice you drank each day? I am having 3 x 20 ozs a day with lots of distilled water. I am hungry but I am not loving the juices (like everyone else who juices seems to do).....I am doing this for a major weight loss I hope in 30 days. but its only day 5 today and I am sick of juices........I think I could have more but to be honest I just don't have the stomach for it. I am worried though that if I don't have enough juice then my body will go into starvation mode and I will slow down my weight loss......any thoughts?

I really love this website. All about juicing and all the fruits and vegi juicing how to q and a. Very informative. I also have an omega. Love it. Got it on ebay for a hundred bucks used. I would have never been able to afford on new. You just never know what kind of deals you will find on ebay.

Earth Angel, the first week is the toughest. It varied for me, but the amount you are doing sounds good.
You can cut down if you want to, as long as you don't get dehydrated. Even just water fasting is beneficial, but juicing makes it much easier as you don't get weak.
I cheated once in awhile and would eat a piece of fruit or a vegie, especially if I was out and about and couldn't get to my juicer.
Something that really, really helped me a lot too is that I added some superfoods to the juice like Spirulina, what grass juice, bee pollen, Maca, garlic, ginger, etc, and some sprouted things like clover, alfalfa, mung bean etc.
The extra nutrition and prana really helped to keep my energy up and staved off my hunger, also helped greatly with the cleansing.
If I was doing it now, I would definitely add fresh aloe vera gel to my morning smoothie.
I was also working out regularly, like at least 2 hours 3X weekly--lifting weights, stairmaster, other intense exercise, which not only helps with the cleansing and burning of calories, but also keeps you from getting saggy skin and stretch marks.
Also keeps your mood elevated.
I was flying high after the first week, and had lots of energy!
And finally, I made a pact with a friend who started fasting the same time I did, and so I got good emotional support.
It's a lot easier to do when the weather is hot too, and I did it in the heat of summer.
I found it easier to do a longer fast rather than doing it once a week, or every other day, but everyone has their own rhythm.
Good luck!:thumb::high5:

Soup.

Really, really good soup actually!

This is interesting because a month ago I started taking a supplement, been screeching to Flash about it, and how in about three months with the supplement, drinking more water, and eliminating artificial sweeteners and fast food I've lost about 30 pounds, got far more energy than I ever thought was possible, and actually CRAVE things differently! The foods I used to run to, cakes n' sweets, actually make me feel sick when I eat them. It's surreal. What I really notice too is that I get these, or have had, these moods of depression that I realize when thinking about them are just moments when I crave diet soda. My body is detoxing. I get a shedding of the cells that contain the compounds from the diet pop, my body gets a false buzz, remembers what it was like, and a few days later I feel better.

Was thinking about posting a link here to the supplement, and the independent research on it (there's HEAPS of it), but I think if I do this, I might be violating the forum's terms of service by promoting. If you're curious, send me a PM and I'll give you the info.

did anyone else get a warning watching the link in the OP ?? I was so into the show I just ignored it but now I am a bit nervous!!
anyway the show was inspiring! I had watched Fat Sick and Nearly Dead about a year and a half ago which inspired me to get my juicer then......I did really well at first and although I have juiced most days since then I also stuck with the white poisons......so I actually have gained weight......now I am on day 5 and was really starting to feel like its Friday I deserve something to eat or a beer......but I watched this documentary instead and I am re-inspired!!

did anyone else get a warning watching the link in the OP ??
I saw a scary red "Reported Attack Page!" warning when using Firefox on the link in the first post.

When I then clicked on the "Why was this page blocked?" option on that warning page, it said:

I'm watching the superjuice movie now.
It's great and very inspiring, but people should also be aware that such centers for detoxing through juicing, superfoods, etc. is nothing new, and there are centers all over the world, though the one in Portugal featured in the documentary is especially beautiful.
Not to detract from the benefits of juicing, but just having a 28 day vacation in such a scenic, natural setting would make a difference in most people's health.
