Have you seen this one yet?

2 hospitals treated my friend worse than this just after surgery because they thought he was homeless (wasn't) and a heroin addict because of all the needle marks (which btw came from them). As you can guess there's a major lawsuit now. I hope my friend makes 20 million over this. There's more that was done to him, but I'll spare you the details for now....

Uhhhhh.... I'm so sorry for your pals ordeal, I'm a nurse and feel like I could write a book about greedy administration policies, useless computer systems, and bare bones staffing..... All to keep the MBAs collecting a paycheck. The judgmental culture is often palpable. The system is broken and corrupt and as with most frustrating aspects of modern society, the problem is even worse than it appears. Like the video, it's not too far off the mark!

I'm assuming you're in the States?
I could fill pages with my thoughts on the matter because I have to deal with it. My main problem is with our doctor offices and clinics. When I'm sick I shouldn't have to 'shop around' like I'm buying a car. It's also difficult to make your best decisions when you're physically unfit.
Hospitals are kinda tricky. I'm not playing the blame game but the money trail doesn't end at the hospital. I think if it did, then we wouldn't have the stories we do. It's like working in a sub-par kitchen on a Friday night.
I have had to deal with the ER on 2 separate occasions. Each visit was pricey. The ambulance ride to the hospital (which was 2 miles away) cost $500. I wasn't bleeding from the chest or anything, I was laying there conscious the whole time. I understand how vital it is that ambulances are well maintained, but this is just gangster ****.
Seriously, this is what a gangster would do, "I got you in my truck with a needle in your arm and you're gonna pay up. If you don't I'm gonna tack on more charges. And if you still don't pay up, my boys (in blue) are gonna find you."
That being said, I still have more issue with the doctors offices and clinics.

Now lets talk about the sanitation (lack of) in most American hospitals... Rampant nosocomial infection rates!

Good for you, SirDip!! :clap2: I have enjoyed telling Doctors to stick it many times in my 67 years and I find it to be very satisfying and a lot of fun!

I am also a nurse. How many times have I seen patients discharged too early because the insurance company won't pay any more only to return with complications and/or infections that are far worse than when they left and frequently worse than what they were admitted for.
The fees charged in hospitals and for any medical treatment are ridiculous. I often wonder why there is not more uproar about this. There is no other business in the world (and yes, sadly, this is big business) that operates in such an incompetent fashion and charges the ridiculous fees that they do and gets away with it.
I am going to take this opportunity to warn everyone to stay out of hospitals, if at all possible. The possibility of contracting an infection, being misdiagnosed, falling victim to medication errors and many more things are very probable. It is really important to do your own home work if you are ill. Get second and third opinions if you need to. Check out any medications that are prescribed to you and if you decide to take them make sure you are getting the right medication. Question the treatment plan prescribed for you. If you present yourself as informed and aware it is likely that more attention will be given to your treatment, as they say, the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Medical people are scared to death of being involved in a lawsuit. And lastly, be an advocate for friends and family that are not able to advocate for themselves due to illness or mental decline.
I am saddened to paint such a negative picture here but it is the current reality. It is in the best business interest of the medical profession to get you on medications and treatments that are ongoing. Be very wary of initiating ongoing prescriptions. Ask yourself, is there another way to deal with this? Frequently changing diet, weight loss, or exercise can correct imbalances such as high blood pressure, and diabetes.
And one more thing, don't take antibiotics unless you really need them. Antibiotics are frequently given for viruses and they won't help.

I just want to remind everyone that the only thing doctors can do first when treating patients is that they can RECOMMEND a course of treatments and drugs, but the decisions will always be the patients to accept it or not. They DON'T have authority over our bodies. Some of them actually believe they have. They don't. Let's not ever forget that.

Just try and avoid traditional treatments for a sick minor child and be amazed at how quickly you are brought into line with their protocol.........if you want to keep your child.
