I would guess that is a combination of the concepts of "Fake it 'till you make it" combined with "The time is not right (in 'certain' eyes) to pull the plug on the world economy", sprinkled with a dash of "if they close production there won't be anymore bailouts for the corporations (read CEO bonuses) in question". I might be forgetting something, but if I were in Vegas, that's where my money would be.

I may hope those are electric cars (prepared for the future) otherwise we'll still be driving on gasoline
for a loooooooooong time ... :(
Or those cars are for the new incoming martian race when they arrive and start inhabiting the Chinese ghost towns. :p

I like the moat around this car lot. Make sure somebody can't get in there and drive off with one.
It seems like production for production's sake. You know, how the talking heads of the fake reality control matrix like to say the sky's falling if there's not a continual expansion of the economy? Gotta keep up that production and maintain the illusion.

Imagine the shockwaves through various markets if:
(insert actual number and names of applicable corporations) suddenly announced that (insert actual number of employees of said companies) were laid off for (insert actual amount of time in days/weeks/months{years?}) to allow the market to 'catch up' and consume the incredible surplus of vehicles that had been overproduced contrary to projections and speculations of purchase that were dissimilar than the actual consumption of new vehicles by a margin of (insert actual degree of divergence between speculations/projections and acutal purchase rates, factoring for the market impact resulting from the announcement of {insert previous number of worker layoffs} of {insert previous number of applicable corporations} in and around a consumer level as pertains to consumer prices and economic viability).
And that's just a cursory analysis! The epic magnitude would be virtually (if not actually) catastrophic! We're talking about cuts to the employees, the power companies, the food industries, insurance/healthcare, transportation,... it spirals onward!
Also of note is the impact that the open disclosure/advertizing of such sites would have on justifying the existing new car prices. I mean, supply (vast surplus) coupled with demand (drastic deficit) should mean a change (decrease) in price right?

I had an idea about new cars, why not have every one pay 50 bucks every month, they drive a new car, after one year trade it in for the newer year, still only 50 bucks a month, for life every month just 50 bucks, .. They could not build them fast enough, the older ones can be used for 25 bucks a month , every has transportation, those that want new got it, those that don't , won't go broke just getting to work... 7 billion people you do the math... Isn't that 350 billion every month ...

Wow! Truly, a picture is worth a thousand words. An illustration around the world why the thinking that got us here is not the thinking that will get us out of any mess that same thinking created.
It is also a visual picture that collapse is inevitable.
I hope all on this site just look at these pictures.

Here's a direct link to the Google Maps satellite view of this rather large parking lot for new cars: http://goo.gl/maps/uuw4a

An interesting idea, but not without, if not flaws than considerations. With a drastic increase in cars there would be increases to traffic congestion, roadway collisions, roadway wear and damage, and additionally not all of the 7 billion+ are suitable drivers (re: driving tests) so it wouldn't be a guaranteed 350 billion to start with. Moreover, would they be conventional gas-powered cars, because the increasing load to the gas market would cause significant hikes to the price per gallon. Registration rates would be affected, likely to a comparable monthly rate,....
Again, its not a bad idea (not at all!), and warrants elaboration and development IMO. Combine that with a sophisticated centralized mag-rail system (connecting larger cities and populations), and you could have a very viable scenario to apply to an increasingly technological society.

bear in mind that these are cars in the UK ie. they got the wheel on the wrong side.... only the UK and Ireland have right hand drive in Europe , so they cant be sold anywhere else on the continent.....

These pictures made me literally gasp out loud (especially the direct link Paul posted from google maps!)
If this isn't a sign of our impending economic collapse, I don't know what is...
The worst part of it all is that this is going to be dated technology by the time they could sell them all. This is crazy! And look just how many stinking resources were WASTED to overproduce these cars. It makes me kind of sick.

does the 'house of cards about to crash' come to mind here....what better way to place blame elsewhere )(other than gov ) than to have all the car mfg...and every industry associated to them crash

Maybe all the cars will be replacing those that will be washed away when the floods, seas toss and destruction comes. People will still need transportation.
