Noticed this article in the UK press from May 2014, not sure if it's been covered before.

The medical experts who refuse to use low-energy lightbulbs in their homes: Professors have stocked up on old-style bulbs to protect against skin cancer and blindness. So should YOU be worried?

well,
while the title says:'low energy light bulbs' this article only covers 'CFL' bulbs which are on their way out anyway....
LED is the way forward..

Mercury poisoning, and flickering lights - get rid! My thoughtful Mum bought loads of the olde-fashioned light bulbs years ago. I wish she'd ordered 40 watt and 60 watt - we are inundated with 100watt - totally useless for bedside lights, normal 'lightweight' stuff. Swaps if anyone interested in the UK! We have LED lighting in our house, but it's not great. Fades and discolours in the kitchen. Takes ages to light in the utility room, as I need instant light! We are testing imported lighting at the moment as OH is a test centre owner. Some of the imports are totally hazardous! Don't buy anything made in China, or the Far East!!!

BTW - old folk were inundated with FREE 'low-energy' light bulbs a few years ago in the UK, Dad had a vast drawer-full - he hated them! Gradually replacing these wherever possible, but at all costs - DO NOT USE these 'low-energy' bulbs. They are totally toxic to the environment, and flicker so much they can damage your mind. They are so ugly also ;)

I'm sure we have all LED bulbs being tested in our house at the moment - can't keep up with the pace of change here! "Why are you changing that bulb?" "Because of *%+&^..." blah-blah scientific stuff and analysis. Fun at the face of diversity here

I use the full spectrum daylight bulb which give more natural lighting. They are more expensive but Not sure if these are also toxic

We were lambasted by 'others' “So 19 percent of Americans believe the U.S. government was behind the 9/11 attacks; 25 percent believe the recent financial crisis was caused by the small cabal of Wall Street bankers; 11 percent of people believe the government is mandating a switch to compact florescent light bulbs because the light bulbs make people obedient and easy to control,” he told NPR."
http://rt.com/usa/163984-conspiracy-theories-fifty-percent/ Apart from spelling mistakes, and scientific giant boo-boos - we really KNOW something isn't right, and the MSM still try to pull the fast-one on us! Will keep trying alternatives, or go back to candlepower! LOL!!!
