Bolivian President Evo Morales has urged the world community to bring an end to the UN Security Council as it is not meeting its goal of securing peace between states, the Bolivian ABI agency reports.

Saturday evening, Morales opened a meeting of the Group of 77 (G77) plus China in the Bolivian city of Santa Cruz. According to the organizers' plans, the final document produced by the summit should become the basis for the development of a new "agenda" of the UN.

"International organizations are required, which will contribute to the development of the world, the destruction of world hierarchies, and the equality of states. Therefore, the Security Council must disappear," said Morales. Instead of ensuring peace between peoples, he believes that the UN has supported military action and aggression by "imperial powers" to acquire the resources of countries harmed by intervention.

"Today, instead of the Security Council there is the Insecurity Council, the Council of imperial intervention," the agency quotes the Bolivian leader. Earlier, Morales said that mankind should take immediate and urgent measures to save "Mother Earth" and develop a new world order within the framework of the UN. He criticized the "imperial speculative model" of world development, which, according to him, had generated an institutional crisis, caused inequality and created an unfair power structure in international organizations, including the UN, IMF, WTO and others.

"We have reached the limit, it is necessary to take urgent decisions at the global level for the sake of saving the society, humanity and Mother Earth," the Bolivian leader said.

Evo Morales also invited Russia to join G77 saying that "to fulfill our tasks that benefit the world we urge Russia and other countries that are our brothers to join G77." He noted that if Russia decides to accept the invitation, the name of the bloc could be changed to G77 plus China and Russia.

The Group of 77 was established on June 15, 1964, by developing countries in order to promote their own economic interests. Originally it consisted of 77 members, now it consists of 133 states. Currently, G77 is the largest intergovernmental organization of developing countries operating under a UN framework.

Just noticed that in May 2013 The Bolivian government, President Evo Morales of Bolivia stated that the United States had funded antigovernment protests in the Latin American nation. The more you look the worse it gets

Good move. There is nothing wrong, per se, with an organization of nations/communities, united in order to address worldwide issues. The problem is the U.N., which most of the time does not in any way act as it should, but is rather (from my point of view) nothing more than a hypocritical mouthpiece for the USA (Americans will no doubt disagree), and for the corporate globalist agenda.

As for the security council, he's absolutely right, they provide more insecurity, condone more wars, provoke more aggression than they provide security.

Only suggestion folks is that "The Group of 77", comprising 133 states is maybe not the most intelligent name, and therefore not the most confidence inspiring name. "The Group of 77, plus Russia and China" is frankly pathetic ! They must be able to think up something better than that.

At least it shows there are people in positions of power who are dissatisfied with the current state of play and are prepared to do something about it. Good.

And, Mother Earth needs more leaders like Evo Morales. Bravo Evo Morales! Was it Bolivia that declared person-hood status and rights for Mother Earth?

If more leaders thought like this, we could start cleaning up our living space and get rid of the foolishness.

In theory, just like socialism, communism and unencumbered redistribution of wealth the United Nation makes sense. In reality it becomes a breeding ground for global elitist that do little to help humanity. Yes, the United Nations makes a show of helping people around the world but it is only a show. They have not been able to prevent, control or eliminate conflict, war, hunger, disease or poverty.

In reality it is the UN Security Council that wields all the power, the permanent members are China, France, Russian, the United Kingdom, and the United States. You could make an argument that each of these countries have a disregard for human life but it is China and Russia's blatant disregard for human life has been on display in the modern world for decades.

IMO the UN should be disbanded or at the very least the security council should be disbanded. The UN should be moved out of the United States and put in a third world country that has stable and peaceful history. The distribution or expenses that fund the UN should be changed to reflect a more realistic approach to world peace. The United States currently pays about 23% of the entire budget and about 26% of the peacekeeping budget. The 125 countries that are members but at the bottom end of the economic scale pay only 1% collectively. These lower income countries are expected to vote for the resolutions of the big five countries based on their economic alliance or foreign aid received from those lager countries.

These smaller countries should pay proportionally equal to the amounts paid by the larger countries. Each country should have an equal vote on all matters especially world security matters.

Five members should no longer have a stranglehold on an organization that is in favor of one world bank, one world currency and one world government.

the UN were never for equal right ... at least not the real organization plans.

Its all about centralizing power ... the big powers through UN can enforce their will ... officially and with noone to oppose them ...

I'm all for getting the UN out of our country. The main thing it needs is big time restructuring. They're beyond corrupt and that needs to be rectified soon. There needs to be checks and balances with them, too. Too much money and too much power is dangerous. Just ask any country that was bombed back to the stone age like Libya...
