People and history live as long as they are remembered ... for what you call 'your consciousness' wakes up every morning from snaps and snippets of your memories .
Your consciousness may consider people or events 'significant' or 'insignificant' while your brain may be of entirely different opinion.
Brain is the true saviour engineer of quantum mechanics, it decides how many copies of certain events , articles , names or people to keep before it can make sense of them ,
it also decides how many cups of coffee are needed to survive the day
and whether it's Jane or Mary who contribute to its survival ,
regardless their own opinion .
Brain decides , among else, whether to call yourself 'male' , 'female' or an 'object' however , the only reason it allows or calls for being called anything at all is because it poses evolutionary advantage .
By having memory of each other, we own each other in small and big ways . In most cases , we can't make use of what we 'own' neither do we know by whom we're being owned ,
sometimes we do .
Consciousness is needed to record new memories and make sense of them . Consciousness is the activity rising and falling like a software process on the disc of your stored memories .
Consciousness is engaged in day dreaming 24/7 while the 'brain circuit' has hard times to run its basic program and remind it of life necessities .
The most potent memories you form do not come from outside but from deep inside , and what is called your 'genetic past ' .
Levels of awakening are elusive and illusory , when we consider ourselves 'awake' , it's a type of particular slumber that connects us to others on similar wavelength of consciousness .
Consciousness engages in many types of activities but it's efficiency is ultimately judged by how many connections it makes .
People like things like Facebook because having few thousand 'friends' makes them feel potentially, 'well connected' .
Memories themselves are not 'true' or 'false' . They're basically , plainly always true until or unless your consciousness makes them look 'better' .
People who 'believe in consciousness' have some of the greatest tendencies to create stories .
Memories sleep on your 'drive' on several levels and can be activated using certain keys .
Keys have lots to do with biochemistry . A smell or a sound can awake piece of long forgotten memory , joy or sadness do the same .
It's hardly possible to make use of all your memories during one life . Consciousness is formed by using selective memories and in return , memories are formed with respect to the level of conscious activity you entertain.
If you're a gardener for the day , your memory of the world is a garden . If you are computer gamer , you remember the world as a game . If you are a parent .. it shapes your consciousness and makes you record memories that make sense to your 'parenthood' .
In reality, most of us have many roles at the same time and many overlapping patterns of consciousness that form specific , selected memories corresponding to them and allowing them to 'continue' and evolve .
Complex memories ( of people or events ) form concepts , concepts are more subtle deeper layer of memories . Concepts can be evolved, created .. shared , or even dissolved, however , even if dissolved they're seldom completely forgotten .
Basic 'concepts' of discernment between right and wrong , and emotions associated with them are taught and recalled usually very early in our life though ...
they are not the 'first born memories' . First memories have to do either with love and joy and fear and pain.
'Memories' of certain type of awareness , discernment , emotion , identity and so forth are automatically ( or not ) also shared within each type of society and species .
You're 'given' a memory of yourself ( the way you're given a name ) that either fits or not , nevertheless you have to do with it until you can evolve memory of your own choice .
What is called 'personality' is but a very complex memory 'imprint' , evolved pattern , many people have more 'personalities' than socks in their life time ( yet, they don't qualify for multiple personality disorder ) . ;)
Your memories are still the most substantial part of you ... they tend to 'sink'.
Consciousness , on the other hand ...tends to fly ... it creates what it calls 'impressions' , impressions are short wave memories of little character that rise and fall rapidly in fractions of seconds, many if not most of them are false ,
and only one or two per minute are 'correct' and selected for possible 'memory formation'.
Impressions are also called 'speculations' and can make you feel high and floating in the mid-air .
Memories , on the other hand can make you feel heavy .
That's why many people prefer impressions and are obsessed with getting 'impressed' because it makes you feel lighter .
In reality maybe ... memories are like deep pit of peat on dark night with swarms of fireflies of consciousness above them , holding a lantern .
The fleeting state of Joy may be caused by moments of these fireflies detaching themselves from the peats and ascending to the sky of your skull where they form new luminary ,
reflect the moonlight and engage in new progenitive cycle fast enough to keep them in the game for the summer ..
Despite all the inaccuracies , I meant well.. .
;)
