Ingenious way to curb food waste

One of the cute sites for fun and interesting info I go to is wimp.com.
This was from today, titled "All Supermarkets Should Do This."
I'm not a fan of corporate food production but I am a fan of innovative ideas that lessen the wastefulness of our consumer society. Go make your money but do it in a way that benefits people and the planet and I'm happy for the effort.

What great info. So many people are conditioned to accept only 'perfect' looking fruits and veggies that frequently taste like styrofoam and are loaded with chemicals. This is another way to show that fruits and veggies do not have to appear perfect to be edible and tasty. If these fruits and veggies are selling for 40% less it will prompt those that would normally not consider anything but the perfect looking stuff to step outside of the rut. Who knows, maybe next time they will buy organic. And of course the fact that they are not being tossed is wonderful. Hats off to whoever came up with this resourceful idea. Its also a great lesson for kids.

Such a great idea should be in our country also. Maybe a "church pantry w/inglorious from around local farms and gardens. What a great way to feed all the hungry. I mean, it's just the packaging shape anyway, right?

That's great. as the european council has made up a departement wich regulates the size, the shape, the form, the smell, the taste and the optimal weight of each fruit or vegetable wich enters the european market, wasting billions of euros for this ridiculous regulations no one needs.
so this initiative is realy great.

As long as their only issue is that they're simply not perfect, as opposed to being mutated, I'm all for it. A really great idea!

I suppose we should be looking for "certified organic, inglorious fruits and vegetables."

This is supporting GMO and it's promoting Radiation.
Natural funky fruit, doesn't grow like half those. and it's still with the money system. That needs to go.


Compost is a great way to get rid of extra stuff from the garden. I know this is supermarket grown but most supermarket growers have to be gmo.

Not true, lots of food just grows into funky shapes, and like they said its normally thrown out because its thought people wanna buy fruit and vegetables that look good. Ive grown plenty of double carrots with organic seeds. Plus non of those things they were selling are commercially produced As GMOs.

Gmo has to be labeled in Europe and this is from France. I think if it says gmo no one wants to buy it, I have never seen it sold where I live (Germany).
