This is often a statement made by politicians. Yet do not assume what is in the interests of the people, is the same as the country because it is not.
There are many things that can be done which would be in the people’s interest but not the country in itself. Who is the country? Is it those that maintain the system such as the civil servants who hold permanent positions and whom are hardly ever seen and never voted in?

Sometimes situations develop which are solved in such a way as to be beneficial to the country and its systems but not to the peoples whom are affected by the systems that control them. Protect the establishment is a term that has been used, and whom are they?

Politicians who are meant to represent the public’s interest are themselves controlled by the system since they have to abide by the laws and systematic demands required to operate within such framework.

In the public’s interest, who decides what is in their interest? Those are not public but those that are a part of the system itself? Should it not be a representative who is vote or decide to have such a position by the public themselves as a whole, not just a politician who covers a small area of a particular country and only representatives those that voted for him or her in the first place?

There is absolutely no reason, whatsoever, why all important decisions cannot be put to popular vote with current technology. Of course, this would require that the population quit worrying about Kim Kartrashian's arse and start focusing on critical issues. Will that be allowed to happen? Only if the people demand it and with the current level of "trance state" I wouldn't hold much hope.

On Erra they say , a problem is presented with both sides of the argument , the people have 30 minutes to decide , then they ALL go to stations and vote , the outcome is determined by the majority ... simple ... ET gives us many blueprints , it's up to us to decide how our world should be ...
