Hi,
I just wanted to know if anyone here is trained in Reiki healing? I am interested in partaking in Reiki 1, 2 and the master level certification, as I believe I would like to practice it professionally in the future; I consider myself an empath and a healer, so I want to pursue an alternative healing path.
However, before doing that, I would like to know people's personal experience with it.
Would really appreciate all the help!
Thank you.:o

I have taken reiki 1. and 2. + so called original Japanese technics courses. I was also planning master course but it turned out to be way too expensive for me to do.
At first I was reaaally excited about reiki and did it daily. Mainly for myself as people around were not intrested about to have it. It really works, especially for pains, but I am not sure if the similar energy healing effect would require reiki attunement. But it sure gives a big boost to the way of energy healer. And to me it also was a way to learn more about meditation. I personally think that reiki was a great way to get to know energies, but there is so much more to learn that I am not focusing purely to it anymore.
If you decide to become energy healer please advance with baby steps - that is my free advice for you. It is something you need to do few years to know if it is your path. And if someone promises shortcuts he/she is most likely just another cheater. There are way too many of those in the field of energy healing.

I took all three courses about 10 years ago, it was a very tranformative time of my life amd learned a lot from Taking the classes and practicing. The symbols you learn are very useful and I still use them occasionally, though I do not practice Reiki on anyone anymore. I would advise you to take the classes if you are drawn to it, just make sure you resonate with the teacher, and space your time between the levels with lots of practice inbetween, especially reiki 2 and 3(master).
My girlfriend is currently studying Theta Healing and Access Conciousness, she is really drawn more to access conciousness and has been taking heaps of classes.

This is very important indeed. Good advice.

:clap2: No experience with this modality but I do want to make a comment. Won't it be nice if high school educational requirements for biology, chemistry and physics were matched with introductory classes in Reiki, massage and reflexology.

My wife took 1 & 2 a few months ago. She would practice on my knee that has subsequently had surgery for meniscus tears. There is definitely a healing effect. I could feel the heat from her hands and for a little while my knee felt good but it is not capable of 'healing' meniscus tears.

I would not recommend it as all initiations open wormholes to other dimensions (read: we give our permission to inhabitants of those dimensions to enter and start using us for their agenda).
Yes, I am talking from experience, I've been through reiki phase. If you want to experiment and you feel a pull towards it, my only suggestion would be to follow your heart. Whatever we do is part of our learning, growing, experimenting.
Reiki installs in lines and out lines to the person practicing it and the person receiving it. On the other side of these lines is a handler who manipulates a human for the purposes that are not for the benefit of a human. We are not on the top of the food chain, I'm afraid.

I totally agree with TheVoyager. And I'm also talking from experience (I was a 3rd level reiki practitioner). You can find a lot or information about this subject here in PA. Just another thread:http://projectavalon.net/forum4/showthread.php?55358-Is-reiki-another-manipulation&highlight=reiki
And I would add: don't rely on external sources. Find and develop your own inner power. Don't give away your precious energy to unknown entities.

Yes, it is possible to open wormholes for negative parasites, but that has nothing to do with reiki. Reiki is just neutral energy straight from the Source and does "what is the best" for the person healed.
IF you start to alter energies with your ego then there could be troubles - and yes, there are special techniques which manipulate energy, but they are not recomended to use without really good reason. But as long as you remain as neutral as possible, IMO there is no risk at all. Or atleast not more than in any energy work. And It is good to remember that the more you shine light, the more you attract energy parasites. But that is whole another story. And that I know from experience.

Thank you guys, the response has been helpful! My mom took all three of levels of Reiki and she does practice it on family(sometimes), but does not teach anyone. I have always been interested in energy healing; I wish to choose a master who is not only passionate about Reiki, but also believes in the power of healing. I agree with The Voyager too, I am very skeptic about the so called energy healers that have multiplied in the last 10 years or so. Where I am come from (South Asia), alternative healing methods such as Reiki, meditation, yoga, chakra healing are still a revered but a dying profession. So, it is important to me that I find a Reiki master that resonates with my spiritual views and life path.
I really do wish to take the classes so it could personally benefit me too; I am at a crossroad at my life because I am not sure what exactly I wish to pursue professionally. With all the conventional career so far, I have not been very successful; I am a pisces and I have a very short-attention span, so working a 9-5 job is not the most ideal situation. And I am still searching for my niche; I am in my late 20s and yet I feel lost at times about my professional strengths;I think I have a lot of energy blocks ( I think most of my chakras are blocked:eek), and I wish to work on releasing them. Also, I feel like I am looping around the same circle and have not had a breakthrough in the last 10 years or so; I am not able to surpass the life-circles and evolve accordingly.
Both personally and professionally, I have reached an impasse, so I think Reiki healing would be a step towards self healing and self introspection. I recently moved back from my home country to States, but I still am trying to find the right footing. I am trying to find stability both professionally and personally. :)

Take the first course and try healing with those skills to see how it feels. :)
Btw, my teacher said that there should be 6-24 months between 1.& 2. just to get to know the basics first. Previous experience (and lives) could mean that the 6 months is proper time and if starting from total zero, then maybe 12-24 months. :)
