I don't know how to say this without sounding alarmist and setting off the question
where's your proof ? But doing a bit of dot connecting of recent events , things are
looking scary. From the Bob & Ion material, which I do not expect anyone to rely
on , unless you are a regular listener and you will know what I mean. They have
been saying that a mass die off event is coming in the near future. Also the aids
virus has been more or less controlled. So the killing of the researchers on
MH17 is possible in your face NWO code....

The other factor is the world seems closer to major conflict than it did during the
cold war with the west NATO and Russia /China again sparring up to each other
over various issues. I know these flashpoints and disease outbreaks happen every
few years, and it seems many are manipulated to happen for profit for corporate or
individual gain. Or experimental bio warfare and inter 'elite squabbling'.

Most border crossings in Liberia are being closed to try to halt the spread of Ebola.
Testing centres are to be set up at the few major entry points to the country which
will remain open, such as the international airport. The new restrictions followed
the first meeting of a task force established by the Liberian government to tackle
the highly infectious virus. Emily Thomas reports.

Ebola Virus Could Spread Worldwide, Experts Warn

‘The deadly virus of Ebola could spread worldwide, experts have warned.

The revelation came as infected Liberian passenger Patrick Sawyer brought the
virus into Nigeria on a flight to Lagos on 20 July, spreading to the fourth African
country. Sawyer died in a Nigerian hospital five days later.

The virus, which first spread in Liberia in January, has also hit Sierra Leone, Guinea
and now Nigeria.

Experts fear that the other passengers who flew with Sawyer and might have
contracted Ebola, could now spread it around the world.’

US Court Ends Private Property Rights: All Water To Be Controlled By Government

‘Democrat Senator Fran Pavley has a bill that would give the State the
responsibility of “managing” all groundwater. That means the water projects and
the groundwater will be controlled by government—which will pick the winners and
loser. Government will decide if you can use your private property—water—to grow
your crops or be forced at the barrel of a gun give your water to your neighbor that
paid nothing for the well you dug and now he will use. Want to collapse agriculture
in this State literally overnight, give control of water to government.’

Study: ‘Shocking’ water loss in western US

Monday 28th July 2014 at 05:18 By david-icke

http://previous.presstv.ir/photo/20140727/372927_drought.jpg

‘The drought-stricken Colorado River Basin has experienced rapid and significant
groundwater depletion since late 2004, posing a greater threat to the water supply
of the western United States than previously thought, according to a new study by
NASA and University of California, Irvine.

The research team used data from NASA’s Gravity Recovery and Climate
Experiment (GRACE) satellite mission to track changes in the mass of the Colorado
River Basin, which is the water source for more than 30 million people and 4 million
acres of farmland.

The satellites showed the basin lost nearly 53 million acre feet (about 17 trillion
gallons) of freshwater between 2004-2013 — almost double the volume of the
nation’s largest reservoir, Nevada’s Lake Mead, which itself recently fell to its
lowest level since the 1930s. More than three-quarters of the total water loss in the
Colorado River Basin was from groundwater. The basin has been experiencing the
driest 14-year period in the last 100 years.’

I heard about ebola many years ago. There have been outbreaks before, but there are different strains of the virus. One broke out in the US some years back but proved relatively harmless. There is a book called the "hot Zone" which is well worth a read which tells about ebola. In the past when it broke out, the tribe that had the outbreak would voluntarily cut themselves off from the rest of the world and thus contain the virus.
The virus is horrific, victims final symptoms are a " bleed out" blood comes from every orrifice, eyes, ears nostrils etc. The victim has a type of fit, and their blood goes everywhere as they thrash around.
The thing that is really scary is how this might spread due to population density
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EPyl1LgNtoQ

for the record though, if you read the book you will see that this is the area you would expect for an outbreak to occur. If it was Paris or downtown Los Angelis then you could say that it wa an attack, but here an outbreak is much more likley .

Here is a link to the Wiki entry for the book mentioned, " the hot Zone"

Scientific fraud? DuPont study deliberately hid toxic effects of GMOs fed to rats

‘A pair of studies recently published in the journal Food and Chemical Toxicology (FCT) reveals the double
standard used in evaluating the safety of genetically modified (GM) foods, says Claire Robinson, in a July
11 editorial on the website GM Watch.

In November 2013, FCT editor A. Wallace Hayes forcibly retracted a study led by researcher Gilles-Eric
Seralini. The long-term study had found organ damage, hormone disruption and increased tumor and
mortality rates in rats fed NK603 “Roundup Ready” (glyphosate-resistant) GM corn contaminated with
glyphosate levels ruled safe by regulators. In retracting the paper, Hayes called the findings “inconclusive,”
because not enough rats were studied and because the variety of rat used (Sprague-Dawley) was
particularly prone to tumors.’

How Monsanto and biotech companies violate the Nuremberg Code with inhumane experiments on humans

‘The basic human rights protections established by the Nuremberg Code, which was adopted
immediately after the end of World War II, continue to serve as a global template for how human
beings are to be treated by the scientific community. But the modern equivalent of the Holocaust
is now taking form under the guise of feeding the world and saving the planet, with Monsanto and
others in the biotech industry routinely testing their chemicals and faux foods on the public
without informed consent, just like amoral scientists did in the death camps.’

Ebola doesn't scare me whatsoever. There is enough information, easily found on this site alone, to be perfectly protected from any and all nasty viruses. I feel perfectly confident I could walk through a room of ebola infected people, shake all their hands and keep right on going without incident. That's not saying everyone on the planet will be so protected but they make their choices and I make mine. I can't control why they're here or decide to leave.

The scariest about the above is the government's potential to legislate water use. Government can't manage anything, especially the criminals in control now. But I see such laws as idiots legislating idiots. Almost all laws of man are completely irrelevant, unless you're too stupid to know any better or a psychopath. With the moral code I live by, I need no law to tell me how to behave and what to do and what not to do to other people or the environment. I will simply ignore this and any other ridiculous law that is passed and good luck catching me.

The most profitable pathogens are the ones that feed onthier hosts for the longest. Thus ebola is not that successful however our reaction of fear could feed the greater pathogens, one being the pharmaceutical companies.

As Matt highlights,
Ebola doesn't scare me

Through intelligent and sensible methods of infection control principles will prevent the mode of transmission of ebola.

"The Ebola virus enters the host primarily through mucosal surfaces or skin abrasions, with most human infections occurring after direct contact with patients or cadavers. Most Ebola outbreaks are centered in hospitals in Africa where practices of basic hygiene and sanitation are considered luxuries. However, in modern hospitals with disposable needles and knowledge of basic hygiene and barrier nursing techniques, the virus rarely spreads on a large scale. Airborne transmission between monkeys was demonstrated during the outbreak of Reston Ebola virus in Virginia, but there is limited evidence of airborne transmission in any human epidemics"

One can look at all of these events as leading to a negative outcome. OR, they could look at them as the beginning of the end of the forces that control this world. They'll throw everything that they've got at the wall, hoping that it will stick.

I have faith that NONE of it will stick. After all, we are still alive and continue to thrive despite these attempts at destabilization.

Again, I hate feeling powerless to do anything about what's going on in the world. Should I simply stop voting? I don't know anymore. Not an excuse. Just overwhelming when you are already fighting off other issues.

My buddy is a surgeon with over 20,000 surgeries under his belt, we discussed viruses long ago and he just said as calmly and cool as can be, "every 100 years or so something comes around and wipes out a bunch of people , it's just nature taking it's course". For those of us breathing right here , right now it sounds like an abrupt violating statement but on the abstract it is what it is. With the age of the internet and the information highway this does allow us to take many proactive measures well before an incident. Just stay educated , live your life, and pray for an end to this current strain and for those effected. That's the most powerful weapon we have .

The deadly Ebola outbreak, which started in Guinea, has now spread to Sierra
Leone, Liberia and Nigeria claiming 670 lives so far.

Two American medical workers have been infected after treating patients with the
disease in Liberia.

Whilst countries affected have closed their land borders, international flights
continue to fly in and out of countries and so far the World Health Organisation has
not recommended any travel restrictions.

Said to be one of the most virulent viral diseases known to humankind, the virus
causes death in 50 to 90 per cent of all clinically ill cases.

Ebola victim widow: I fear an outbreak in the US

OujvnIs5YBM

Published on 30 Jul 2014

The Telegraph

The American widow of Patrick Sawyer, the Liberian government official who died
after contracting Ebola says she fears that there could be an outbreak of the virus
in the US

Patrick Sawyer, a 40-year-old consultant for Liberia's Finance Ministry collapsed
July 20 in Lagos, Nigeria after flying there from Liberia. He had been working in
Liberia since 2008.

Sawyer had been put in isolation in a hospital in Nigeria and died on Friday. His was
the first recorded case in Nigeria of the disease.

His wife Decontee Sawyer, speaking from her home in Coon Rapids, in the US state
of Minnesota, said her husband had planned to come home for two of his three
daughters' birthdays next month.

She had learned that her husband caught the disease from his sister, who fell ill
and died of Ebola. He did not know at the time that she had Ebola, Sawyer said, as
the virus shares symptoms with other diseases including malaria.

More than 670 people have died during the recent outbreak in West Africa.

Ms Sawyer said: "We ought to be concerned about that. If we're not, we're kidding
ourselves. If we think that it can't come to the US and that's another fear of mine.
Because we've already lost Patrick and we're losing tons of people there. And we
don't need that killer to come here as well."

No cases of Ebola have been confirmed in the US, and the Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention said on Monday it posed little risk to the general US
population, but it is causing some to cancel travel plans and stirring fear in
Minnesota, which has the largest Liberian immigrant population in America.

This Is What Is Going To Happen If Ebola Comes To America

Thursday 31st July 2014 at 09:36 By david-icke

http://www.davidicke.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/Prison-Camp-300x300.jpg

‘If the worst Ebola outbreak in recorded history reaches the United States, federal
law permits “the apprehension and examination of any individual reasonably
believed to be infected with a communicable disease”. These individuals can
be “detained for such time and in such manner as may be reasonably necessary”.

In other words, the federal government already has the authority to round people
up against their will, take them to detention facilities and hold them there for as
long as they feel it is “reasonably necessary”. In addition, as you will read about
below, the federal government has the authority “to separate and restrict the
movement of well persons who may have been exposed to a communicable disease
to see if they become ill”.

If you want to look at these laws in the broadest sense, they pretty much give the
federal government the power to do almost anything that they want with us in the
event of a major pandemic. Of course such a scenario probably would not be
called “marital law”, but it would probably feel a lot like it.’

through a major transport hub in Nigeria. The World Health Organization has called
the outbreak the worst on record, while Doctors Without Borders says the situation

'Fast-track the Ebola drug': U.S. under pressure to give potentially life-saving
medication the green light as experts warn of global pandemic

A petition has been launched urging the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to fast-
track a new Ebola drug

There is currently no cure or vaccine for the deadly disease
But a clinical trial for potentially the first drug was put on hold this month

672 people have died as the disease sweeps through Western Africa
Head of global charity calls for experimental drugs to be offered to victims
Expert says virus is 'as infectious as flu' and poses global pandemic threat
But specialist said if the disease reaches UK shores the NHS is prepared

‘Health campaigners are today calling for U.S. authorities to speed up their
approval of a new drug hoped to be the first cure for the deadly Ebola virus.

There is currently no cure or vaccine for the disease, which has claimed the lives of
672 people in West Africa, since February.

The head of global charity The Wellcome Trust earlier this month called for
experimental drugs to be offered to those diagnosed with the virulent illness in
West Africa.

Despite the drugs not being fully tested Jeremy Farrar, professor of tropical
medicine and director of the trust, said Ebola’s spread in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra
Leone is ‘out of control’.’

‘A patient infected with Ebola is being flown into the United States to be held for
medical examination and treatment at Emory University in Atlanta, reports The
Guardian. (1) “Emory University Hospital in Atlanta is set to receive a patient
infected with the deadly Ebola disease currently sweeping through swaths of west
Africa,” the paper reports. The patient is reportedly one of the American doctors
who was recently infected with the disease.

This event will make the first time in history that a level-4 biohazard infectious
agent is being transported by air into a large U.S. city while still multiplying inside a
living patient. This startling revelation brings up all sorts of questions that range
from the gullibly hopeful to the impossibly sinister. Here are some of the thoughts

going through people’s minds on this right now:’

Ebola crisis: Virus spreading too fast, says WHO

http://news.bbcimg.co.uk/media/images/76683000/jpg/_76683039_76683038.jpg

The WHO says that when well managed, an Ebola outbreak can be stopped

The Ebola outbreak in West Africa is spreading faster than efforts to control it,
World Health Organization (WHO) head Margaret Chan has said.

She told a summit of regional leaders that failure to contain Ebola could
be "catastrophic" in terms of lives lost.

It spreads by contact with infected blood, bodily fluids, organs - or contaminated
environments. Patients have a better chance of survival if they receive early treatment.

Initial flu-like symptoms can lead to external haemorrhaging from areas like eyes
and gums, and internal bleeding which can lead to organ failure.

Dr Chan was meeting the leaders of the worst-affected countries - Guinea, Liberia
and Sierra Leone - to launch a new $100m (£59m; 75m euro) Ebola response plan.

The plan includes funding the deployment of hundreds more health care workers to
affected countries.

But she said the virus, which has claimed 729 lives in four West African countries
since February, could be stopped if well managed.

Ebola kills up to 90% of those infected.

Offices are being sprayed with disinfectant in the Liberian capital Monrovia to
prevent the spread of the Ebola virus Analysis: David Shukman, BBC science editor

Friday's summit should provide the kind of international cooperation needed to fight
Ebola but the battle against the virus will be won or lost at the local level. An over-
attentive family member, a careless moment while burying a victim, a slip-up by
medical staff coping with stress and heat - a single small mistake in basic hygiene
can allow the virus to slip from one human host to another.

The basic techniques for stopping Ebola are well known. The problem is applying
them. Since the virus was first identified in 1976, there have been dozens of
outbreaks and all of them have been contained. Experts point to these successes as
evidence that this latest threat can be overcome too.

But working against them are suspicions among local people and the unavoidable
fact that this is an extremely poor part of the world, much of it still reeling from
conflict. Deploying the right equipment in properly trained hands is always going to
be a struggle, one that is now extremely urgent.

"This meeting must mark a turning point in the outbreak response," Dr Chan said
at the summit in Guinea's capital, Conakry.

"Cases are occurring in rural areas which are difficult to access, but also in densely
populated capital cities," she said, explaining that the outbreak was the world's
deadliest and largest in terms of geographical areas.

The spread of the virus is dominating the headlines in the Liberian capital Monrovia
as this news discussion board in the centre of the city shows

http://news.bbcimg.co.uk/media/images/76683000/jpg/_76683763_023370593-1.jpg
Military vehicles in Liberia are displaying warnings and advice about Ebola to
prevent panic over the spread of the virus "It is taking place in areas with fluid
population movements over porous borders, and it has demonstrated its ability to
spread via air travel, contrary to what has been seen in past outbreaks," she said.

In her comments - also published on the WHO website - Dr Chan said the virus was
affecting a large number of doctors, nurses and other health care workers who
have an essential role in curtailing the outbreak.

"To date, more than 60 health care workers have lost their lives in helping others.
Some international staff are infected. These tragic infections and deaths
significantly erode response capacity," she said.

Dr Chan said that while the situation in West Africa "must receive urgent priority for
decisive action at national and international levels, experiences in Africa over nearly
four decades tell us clearly that, when well managed, an Ebola outbreak can be
stopped".

She pointed out that medics are not fighting an airborne virus - transmission
requires close contact with the bodily fluids of an infected person.

"Apart from this specific situation, the general public is not at high risk of infection
by the Ebola virus," she said.

"At the same time, it would be extremely unwise for national authorities and the
international community to allow an Ebola virus to circulate widely and over a long
period of time in human populations."

She also said that:

Constant mutation and adaptation are the survival mechanisms of viruses and it
was important not to allow opportunities for them to deliver more surprises
Medics are not just up against a public health problem but also a social problem
made worse by "deep-seated beliefs and cultural practices"
Chains of transmission have moved underground, are invisible and are not being
reported

Because of the high fatality rate, many people prefer to care for loved ones in their
homes which hampers rapid containment of the virusPublic attitudes can create a
security threat to response teams when fear and misunderstanding turn to anger,
hostility or violence

Separately, the Liberian government declared Friday a non-working holiday, during
which public and private places of work "will be shut down" to allow a huge
sanitization and chlorination exercise in government ministries and places of public
gathering.

Information Minister Lewis Brown told the BBC that "everywhere is shut down".

He said earlier on state radio that "the intent is to let us come to the realisation
that something is wrong and what is wrong is serious".

Up to 30 Commonwealth Games athletes from Sierra Leone, meanwhile, are

considering extending their stay in Glasgow amid fears over the Ebola virus.

What are US biowar researchers doing in the Ebola zone?

new Saturday 2nd August 2014 at 10:00 By david-icke

http://www.davidicke.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/bioterrorist-biohazard2.jpg

‘This is a call for an immediate, thorough, and independent investigation of Tulane
University researchers and their Fort Detrick associates in the US biowarfare research
community, who have been operating in West Africa during the past several years.

What exactly have they been doing?

Exactly what diagnostic tests have they been performing on citizens of Sierra Leone?’

Why do we have reports that the government of Sierra Leone has recently told Tulane
researchers to stop this testing?

Have Tulane researchers and their associates attempted any experimental treatments
(e.g., injecting monoclonal antibodies) using citizens of the region? If so, what adverse
events have occurred?

The research program, occurring in Sierra Leone, the Republic of Guinea, and Liberia—
said to be the epicenter of the 2014 Ebola outbreak—has the announced purpose,
among others, of detecting the future use of fever-viruses as bioweapons.

Is this purely defensive research? Or as we have seen in the past, is this research being
covertly used to develop offensive bioweapons?

For the last several years, researchers from Tulane University have been active in the
African areas where Ebola is said to have broken out in 2014.

These researchers are working with other institutions, one of which is USAMRIID, the
US Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases, a well-known center for
biowar research, located at Fort Detrick, Maryland.

In Sierra Leone, the Tulane group has been researching new diagnostic tests for
hemorrhagic fevers.

Note: Lassa Fever, Ebola, and other labels are applied to a spectrum of illness that
result in hemorrhaging.

Tulane researchers have also been investigating the use of monoclonal antibodies as
a treatment for these fevers—but not on-site in Africa, according to Tulane press releases.

Here are excerpts from supporting documents.

Tulane University, Oct. 12, 2012, “Dean’s Update: Update on Lassa Fever Research” (.pdf here):

“In 2009, researchers received a five-year $7,073,538 grant from the National Institute
of Health to fund the continued development of detection kits for Lassa viral hemorrhagic fever.

“Since that time, much has been done to study the disease. Dr. Robert Garry, Professor
of Microbiology and Immunology, and Dr. James Robinson, Professor of Pediatrics, have
been involved in the research of Lassa fever. Together the two have recently been able
to create what are called human monoclonal antibodies. After isolating the B-cells from
patients that have survived the disease, they have utilized molecular cloning methods
to isolate the antibodies and reproduce them in the laboratory. These antibodies have
been tested on guinea pigs at The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston and
shown to help prevent them from dying of Lassa fever…

“Most recently, a new Lassa fever ward is being constructed in Sierra Leone at the
Kenema Government Hospital. When finished, it will be better equipped to assist
patients affected by the disease and will hopefully help to end the spread of it.”
[The Kenema Hospital is one of the centers of the Ebola outbreak.]

Here is another release from Tulane University, this one dated Oct. 18, 2007.
“New Test Moves Forward to Detect Bioterrorism Threats.”

“The initial round of clinical testing has been completed for the first diagnostic
test kits that will aid in bioterrorism defense against a deadly viral disease.
Tulane University researchers are collaborating in the project.

“Robert Garry, professor of microbiology and immunology at Tulane University,
is principal investigator in a federally funded study to develop new tests for viral
hemorrhagic fevers.

“Corgenix Medical Corp., a worldwide developer and marketer of diagnostic test
kits, announced that the first test kits for detection of hemorrhagic fever have
competed initial clinical testing in West Africa.

“The kits, developed under a $3.8 million grant awarded by the National Institutes
of Health, involve work by Corgenix in collaboration with Tulane University, the U.S.
Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases, BioFactura Inc. and
Autoimmune Technologies.

“Clinical reports from the studies in Sierra Leone continue to show amazing results,”
says Robert Garry, professor of microbiology and immunology at the Tulane University
School of Medicine and principal investigator of the grant.

“We believe this remarkable collaboration will result in detection products that will truly
have a meaningful impact on the healthcare in West Africa, but will also fill a badly
needed gap in the bioterrorism defense.

“…The clinical studies are being conducted at the Mano River Union Lassa Fever Network
in Sierra Leone. Tulane, under contract with the World Health Organization, implements
the program in the Mano River Union countries (Sierra Leone, Liberia and Guinea) to
develop national and regional prevention and control strategies for Lassa fever and
other important regional diseases.

“Clinical testing on the new recombinant technology demonstrates that our collaboration
is working,” says Douglass Simpson, president of Corgenix. “We have combined the skills
of different parties, resulting in development of some remarkable test kits in a surprisingly
short period of time. As a group we intend to expand this program to address other
important infectious agents with both clinical health issues and threat of bioterrorism such as ebola.”

Coming to Your Country Soon: Forced quarantines and door-to-door searches now underway in Sierra Leone

new Saturday 2nd August 2014 at 09:49 By david-icke

‘The country’s President, Ernest Bai Koroma, has declared a state of emergency amidst
the worst Ebola outbreak in history, calling in Army troops to quarantine neighborhoods
and conduct door-to-door sweeps searching for the infected.’

Ohio.com reported:

There is no licensed drug or vaccine for Ebola, and patients can only be given supportive
care to keep them hydrated. There are a handful of experimental drug and vaccine
candidates for Ebola and while some have had promising results in animals including
monkeys, none has been rigorously tested in humans.

The disease has continued to spread through bodily fluids as sick people remain out in
the community and cared for by relatives without protective gear. People have become
ill from touching sick family members and in some cases from soiled linens.

In Sierra Leone, which borders Liberia to the northwest, authorities are vowing to
quarantine all those at home who have refused to go to isolation centers. Many families
have kept relatives at home to pray for their survival instead of bringing them to clinics
that have had a 60 percent fatality rate. Those in the throngs of death can bleed from
their eyes, mouth and ears.

Rosa Crestani, Ebola emergency coordinator for Doctors Without Borders, said it is
“crucial” at this point to gain the trust of communities that have been afraid to let
health workers in and to deploy more medical staff.

This all follows lockstep with World Health Organization (WHO) and international
protocols pertaining to viral outbreaks and pandemics and will likely set the pace
for coming UK and U.S. quarantines.

So far the WHO has pledged $100 million in Ebola aid for West Africa which was
recently inundated with the virus which has already claimed over 70 lives. However,
it has been reported that the outbreaks in the region are now so bad that humanitarian
teams are even evacuating the area.

All inbound air traffic from West Africa has been diverted to run through three major
U.S. hubs, Austin, Atlanta and New York. At least 19 airports in the U.S. are on high
alert as officials search for noticeably sickened travelers to be forcefully quarantined by law.

http://www.intellihub.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/jurisdictions-925px.jpg
(Image: CDC.gov)

At least 20 quarantine stations throughout the U.S. have been designated for
Ebola by the CDC.

Officials in the UK have announced that they are scouting for doctors capable of
treating infectious diseases.

Ebola stays alive on the surface for up to 48 hours and has a 90% kill rate in
most cases.

They tested the delivery of emergency medications in the event of a biological
attack, such as anthrax, or other large-scale public health emergency in the city.
The majority of the deliveries will take place to public school buildings.

It’s the largest surprise drill in the city’s history. The drill was scheduled to
take place from approximately 6:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. The majority of
participants were given no notice to better test and simulate a real
emergency and response.’

We should not be alarmed but just wary ,its reassuring New York has had
this drill, lets hope its not needed , or they have not set something in motion ?
We know drills can be used to hide events.

Also in Kerrys latest interview with Capt Mark Richards , she talks about
Africa being seeded to a ET race from Alderbaron, the ones involved with
the NAZI's. She did not insinuate the outbreak of Ebola was to do with
them, but there is coincidences and the NAZI's would not worry about
clearing the area of locals as we have seen in the past. This is pure
conjecture but it is coincidental and hopefully huey.......

But they believe.

The massive campaign to make people believe the Ebola virus can attack

People are falling all over themselves to raise the level of hysteria.

This is what is preventing a hard look at Liberia, Sierra Leone, and the

of Liberia are broadcast around the globe, there has been a growing outcry for the
scientific community to “do something” about this deadly virus. And as luck would
have it, there is an “experimental Ebola vaccine” that is ready to be tested on humans

If Ebola starts to spread outside of Africa, and especially if it starts spreading inside
the United States, people will be absolutely clamoring to get this vaccine. But will it
be safe? And there will certainly be millions of people that do not want to take this
vaccine under any circumstances. If the outbreak gets bad enough, will it be made
mandatory at some point? If they do make it mandatory for all Americans to take

CDC Removed the Phrase ‘Contaminated Air’ from Its New Ebola Fact Sheet

In fact, panic sells vaccines. The CDC, a well-established revolving door

‘In the wake of the latest terror scam, Ebola, President Barack Obama has just signed an executive order to enable the
enforced detention of people with severe respiratory disease. Yes, you heard that right. Not Ebola. Just people with
breathing problems.

However, the only known strain of Ebola to be transmitted by airborne droplets – Mayinga – hasn’t been seen since 1978.

It reminds me of a similar sleight of hand, when our warmongering leaders started banging the war drums against Iraq
over 9/11, while insisting that the perpetrators of the twin towers attack were from a cave in Afghanistan.

But if you are worried about Ebola, please don’t be. It’s beginning to seem as if it’s just more psychological warfare from
the usual suspects … just like Bird Flu and Swine Flu.’

Liberian horrors: Ebola victims bodies dumped in the street, wells poisoned to kill off population

‘Relatives of Ebola victims in Liberia defied government orders and dumped infected bodies
in the streets as West African governments struggled to enforce tough measures to curb an
outbreak of the virus that has killed 887 people.

In Nigeria, which recorded its first death from Ebola in late July, authorities in Lagos said
eight people who came in contact with the deceased U.S. citizen Patrick Sawyer were
showing signs of the deadly disease. The outbreak was detected in March in the remote
forest regions of Guinea, where the death toll is rising. In neighboring Sierra Leone and
Liberia, where the outbreak is now spreading fastest, authorities deployed troops to
quarantine the border areas where 70 percent of cases have been detected.’

Liberian soldiers have set up a blockade stopping people from western
regions affected by the Ebola outbreak from entering the capital, Monrovia.

It follows the president's declaration of a state of emergency to tackle
the outbreak that has killed more than 930 people in West Africa this year.

In Sierra Leone the security forces have now imposed a complete
blockade of eastern areas hit by Ebola.

Health experts in Switzerland are discussing a response to the outbreak.

It is the world's deadliest outbreak and the two-day World Health
Organization (WHO) meeting will decide whether to declare a global
health emergency.

Ebola, a viral haemorrhagic fever, is one of the deadliest diseases known
to humans, with a fatality rate in this outbreak of between 50% and 60%.
It is spread through contact with the bodily fluids of Ebola patients showing symptoms.

Analysis: Jonathan Paye-Layleh, BBC News, Monrovia

2014. Most of the latest Ebola fatalities have come from Liberia

The military blockade is stopping people from western regions of Grand
Cape Mount and Bomi, where Ebola is prevalent, from entering the capital.

These counties largely rely on Monrovia for their goods - and the blockade
means that the cities of Robertsport and Tubmanburg are now cut off. One
Tubmanburg resident phoned into a radio show to complain that rice, the
national staple, was already in short supply in the market.

The head of the National Health Workers Association said while the state of
emergency was necessary, people should have been given time to prepare.
Fear has prompted hospital workers to abandon clinics - meaning many are
now shut.

President Sirleaf said this meant many diseases prevalent during the rainy
season, such as malaria and typhoid, were going untreated and there could
be unnecessary and preventable deaths as a result.

line
Announcing a state of emergency for 90 days, President Sirleaf said the
government and people of Liberia required "extraordinary measures for the
very survival of our state and for the protection of the lives of our people".

Speaking from a crossroads 37km (23 miles) west of Monrovia, the BBC's
Jonathan Paye-Layleh said soldiers had been deployed to stop the movement
of people - many of whom are traders.

In neighbouring Sierra Leone, the head of the police in the east of the country
said police and soldiers had imposed a "complete blockade" of the Kenema
and Kailahun districts.

"No vehicles or persons will be allowed in or out of the districts" except those
with essential food and medicines, he said.

line
Dr Tabeh Freeman at Liberia's Bong Mines Hospital told the BBC:

There has been carelessness on the president's part: she declared a state of
emergency very late. It is very scary; some of my colleagues have died.

We have not had a confirmed case at my facility, but about 24km away, a
patient tested positive. Twelve nurses have been coming down with symptoms
and have been quarantined.

When there is a suspected case, protocol demands that the Ebola surveillance
team should be contacted so blood samples can be collected. That is not happening.

Because of the high number of cases and very limited resources, the hospital's
own laboratory technicians are asked to draw samples, which is very risky. As a
result, some of them have been infected. When the specimen finally reaches the
testing centre, it takes two to three days before the results come back.

That is too long, especially when the patient is still in the community. The longer
the results take to come back, the faster the patient spreads the virus.

The UK announced it would provide £3m ($5m) to strengthen health systems in

If a public health emergency is declared by the WHO, it could involve detailed plans
to identify, isolate and treat cases, as well as impose travel restrictions on affected areas.

There is no cure or vaccine for Ebola - but patients have a better chance of survival
if they receive early treatment.

Ebola has initial flu-like symptoms that can lead to external haemorrhaging from areas
like eyes and gums, and internal bleeding which can lead to organ failure.

Big Pharma pushers want to conduct Ebola medical experiments on entire population of West Africa

Friday 8th August 2014 at 09:03 By david-icke

http://www.davidicke.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/Ebola-Virus-Close-Up.jpg

‘As the death toll from this latest Ebola outbreak edges closer to 1,000, a group of “experts”
has come forward with calls to start administering experimental medicines to West Africans.
The Los Angeles Times reports that Peter Piot, who is credited with co-discovering the Ebola
virus back in the 1970s, along with several others is urging the World Health Organization
(WHO) to allow mass medical experimentation with drugs and vaccines that have never
been safety tested.

Along with David L. Heymann from the Chatham House Center on Global Health Security and
Professor Jeremy Farrar from the Wellcome Trust, Piot is playing the crisis card in an attempt
to bypass the normal assessment and approval process for experimental drugs. If he and the
others get their way, every West African will eventually have access to drugs and vaccines that
have never undergone any testing for safety or efficacy.’

WHO declares Ebola outbreak an international public health emergency

‘The World Health Organisation has declared the Ebola outbreak an international
public health emergency, but it is not recommending general bans on travel or trade.

The global body said the Ebola outbreak – the largest and longest in history – was
happening in countries without the resources to manage the infections, some with
devastated healthcare systems still recovering from war, and called on the
international community to help.

“Countries affected to date simply do not have the capacity to manage an outbreak
of this size and complexity on their own,” said Margaret Chan, the WHO’s director
general. “I urge the international community to provide this support on the most
urgent basis possible.”‘

An Ebola Outbreak Could Quarantine Entire US Cities

new Saturday 9th August 2014 at 08:53 By david-icke

http://www.davidicke.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/quarantine.jpg

‘According to a senior health fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations, the world has no
strategic plan to contain the worst Ebola outbreak in history while scientists are saying an
outbreak on U.S. soil would require sweeping measures.

Total quarantine of cities or sections of infected cities and restrictions on air travel could
be expected.

“We’re now in a perfect storm,” Laurie Garrett said in a CFR conference call Thursday in
which she described the United Nations World Health Organization as “bankrupt” and
drowning in debt. “There is no strategic plan for how this epidemic will be brought under control.”’

The same term, “perfect storm,” was also used to describe the Ebola outbreak Thursday by the
director of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control, Dr. Tom Frieden, in testimony before Congress.

If the statements are true, each nation must come up with its own plan to protect its people.

In the United States, that job falls to the CDC in Atlanta. As Frieden testified Thursday, the
CDC raised its emergency operations center to Level 1, the highest possible alert in an effort
to better coordinate a CDC-organized surge of health professionals and equipment being
rushed to West Africa in an effort to contain the Ebola outbreak.

Nearly 900 people have died of Ebola in four west African countries since February.

Frieden also told Congress that it’s “inevitable” that someone with Ebola will get on a plane
and fly to the United States, risking an outbreak here.

If, or when, Ebola does show up in the United States, the only way to combat the virus is
through strict quarantines, said Dr. Arthur Robinson, a biochemist with Oregon-based
Doctors for Disaster Preparedness.

“I don’t want to contribute to scaring everybody but at the same time, you’re dealing with
total quarantine,” Robinson said. “You might have to quarantine entire small cities. Hopefully
that doesn’t happen but it could.”

Robinson, who stresses that he has no inside knowledge of the government’s plans other
than what he’s already seen play out, says he doubts the United States would be adequately
prepared for a major outbreak of Ebola on its soil.

“I’ve spoken to people who are experts on African diseases and they are not very sanguine
about CDC’s ability to deal with things like this,” Robinson said. “Their experience in dealing
with bacterial warfare is almost zero, but that’s almost what you have here.

“We know almost nothing, this is a world we’ve barely scratched the surface in,” he continued.
“We are probably not prepared. We have nothing that stops a virus other than quarantine and
hoping it dies out. It has its own DNA, a code that is also able to penetrate a living cell. The
virus takes over the living cell. The cell pops and then those viruses infect other cells. But by
itself it is inert. It has the DNA but it does not have the machinery to reproduce itself without
a living cell (as its host).”

Ebola is spread through contact with bodily fluids such as blood, sweat, vomit or feces. The
symptoms include nausea, vomiting, high fever and diarrhea and there is no known cure. The
death rate of the strain now infecting people is about 70 percent. The disease

has up to a 21-day incubation period and the virus can live outside of an infected CDC-Quarantinable
diseasesperson’s body for hours, possibly days. As a viral hemorrhagic fever, it is one of nine diseases
which the federal government has the authority to forcibly quarantine.

A living victim of Ebola “is alive with viruses and their cells are making more virus-infected cells at
a tremendous rate,” Robinson said. “If you have contact with the bodily fluids of that person you’re
getting a big dose. You get little tiny assaults with viruses all the time and your body is able to
overcome them but once it’s in the body it’s a huge dose. People rubbing their eyes or putting their
hands in their mouth, it breaks out. And a person infected is just a huge reservoir of the virus and
cells that are supporting that virus.”

The very nature of a virus makes it hard to combat without a vaccine and Robinson pointed to the
polio virus as an example.

“The thing that worries me is this is a virus and viruses are notoriously hard to combat, very difficult
to beat because they are not alive most of the time,” said Robinson. “It does not live by itself, but
it uses the living thing in which it is embedded to wake up and do its damage. There are viruses all
over the place, we live in a sea of viruses, but when one wakes up you’re in a lot of trouble.”

According to a CDC statement released Wednesday, U.S. hospitals can safely manage patients with
Ebola. “The key factors are isolation of patients, diligent environmental cleaning and disinfection,
and protection of healthcare providers,” the statement said. “Providers in U.S. hospitals should wear
gloves, fluid resistant/impermeable gown, and eye protection. In certain situations involving copious
body fluids, additional equipment may be needed (for example, double gloving, disposable shoe
coverings, and leg coverings).”

The CDC has 20 known quarantine stations throughout the U.S. but it is not known if those would be
adequate to contain a full outbreak. A CDC press officer told WND she would have someone
“get back with you” Thursday on this issue but no one from the agency followed up.

http://mobile.wnd.com/files/2014/08/CDC-map-2.jpg

And other questions abound: Would there be enough testing sites, testing labs and hospitals capable
of handling an outbreak? Screening stations would likely be set up at all international airports. For
more details on how an Ebola outbreak might affect the United States, see this White House document
drafted by the Clinton administration during a less severe Ebola scare in Africa.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services announced in July it was issuing $840 million to
upgrade the emergency preparedness of state and local medical facilities.

But Dr. Jane Orient, M.D., a practicing physician in Tuscon, Arizona, and member of Doctors for Disaster
Preparedness, wonders if it will be too little, too late.

“The fear is they would put people suspected of being infected, but who are actually healthy, in with
people who do have the virus, so the threat is you would get it once you’re in quarantine
(even if healthy to begin with),” Orient said.

She said the more sensible strategy would be to quarantine people in their homes.

“That is what was done with my grandfather’s generation, and then the family members can take their
precautions and watch their symptoms,” Orient said.

She said recent articles about Obama’s executive order giving him authority to quarantine sick people
and those suspected of being sick “is really nothing new.”

The U.S. has used governmental quarantine powers dating back to 1878.

“We always have to be worried about government overreacting and quarantining healthy people with
sick people and people quarantining themselves and not going to work,” Orient said. “The situation is
always going to be exacerbated

http://mobile.wnd.com/files/2014/08/CDC-history-of-quarantine.jpg

if the population thinks their government is not telling them the truth, or is covering up.”

She said the vast majority of citizens living under the old Soviet Union believed in UFOs “and the reason
they did was because the government said UFOs didn’t exist and the government must be lying like it
always does. So the risk is that even if the government is telling the truth, for a change, the people
just won’t believe it.”

Orient said there is no evidence the Ebola virus can be spread by airborne germs such as a sneeze,
but nor is there any proof that it can’t, “so maybe we’ll find out late in the game.”

She said body fluids such as sweat or saliva could be found on any city surface.

“I don’t know (about Ebola) but some viruses can live for a couple weeks, and then the question arises,
is it possible Ebola could develop air-born mutation,” Orient said. “So I would say, don’t panic, but
people need to be aware this is a possibility. Unfortunately it starts off like a bad case of the flu.”

She said the CDC has put out communications that the disease can only be spread by direct contact
with an infected person’s bodily fluids, “but that looks so contradictory to the way they transported
these two patients to Atlanta, with extreme caution. When people in space suits are telling you ‘oh
don’t worry, there’s no danger of this spreading,’ they have no credibility.”

Frieden, meanwhile, continues to try to tamp down any concerns. He exuded confidence that everything
is under control in his latest press release, issued on Wednesday.

“The bottom line with Ebola is we know how to stop it: traditional public health. Find patients, isolate
and care for them; find their contacts; educate people; and strictly follow infection control in hospitals.
Do those things with meticulous care and Ebola goes away,” Frieden said in the release. “To keep
America safe, health care workers should isolate and evaluate people who have returned from Guinea,
Liberia, and Sierra Leone in the past 21 days and have fever or other symptoms suggestive of Ebola.
We will save lives in West Africa and protect ourselves at home by stopping Ebola at the source.”

Robinson is less cheery about the CDC’s capabilities. He said there is no denying the fact that there are
some cultural practices in west Africa that help the disease spread that are not present in American
culture. That’s the good news.

“A person dies in Africa and the culture of poverty helps a disease like this spread because they don’t
bury their dead right away, they don’t take certain precautions,” he said. “But if it appears in the U.S.,
if we get a couple of cases I think people would be looking for places to hide. These things are not trivial.
We’ve just scratched the surface there’s so much we don’t know about these diseases.”

Can US 'secret serum' stop Ebola outbreak?9 August 2014 Last updated at 01:55 BST

On Friday, the World Health Organisation (WHO) declared the West African outbreak
of Ebola an "international emergency".

In the US, two Americans who contracted the virus are being treated with a secret
serum, and are understood to be recovering in Atlanta.

The serum is controversial because it has not been tested on humans before - and
because it is not being given to others in Africa who are suffering from the virus.

Alastair Leithead visited San Diego where the serum was developed and spoke with
researchers working on finding a cure.

Its sad to think this way but could this Ebola Outbreak , like Swine Flu and
other infectious diseases be a pharmaceutical false flags. I Hope not, but
its a great problem reaction solution scenario. Create/spread a virus to
a limited hopefully contained area, cause public panic and concern.
Then offer the solution in the form of a vaccine that you can sell to
grate full countries to give to the healthy population.

This is certainly open to abuse and may have been happening for decades /
Of course it could be genuine , and speed and reaction from the rest of
the world is vital, but everything seems to be getting so sordid
and messy with this constant possible false flags in all sorts of events.

‘While the world of conventional medicine lines up to profit from the Ebola panic,
there is no mention anywhere in the mainstream media of the criminal corporation
behind the Ebola vaccine.

GlaxoSmithKline, now being celebrated by the pro-pharma press, is the same
company that also has a proven criminal record of bribing physicians and knowingly
distributing misleading information about the safety of their drug products.

Just two years ago, GSK plead guilty to felony crimes in the United States and was
forced to pay an historical $3 billion fine for committing those crimes. After paying
the fine, GSK was then exempted from normal rules regarding criminal enterprise,
allowing it to continue conducting business with the federal government.’

Ebola outbreak spurs use of untested vaccine

VF8dRNoSbzM

Published on 12 Aug 2014

Over 1,000 people have died from the ongoing Ebola outbreak that
began in West Africa in late 2013, prompting authorities to experiment
with new, untested drugs. No proven vaccine exists to combat the deadly
virus, but an untested drug made in San Diego may be able to save lives.
Called ZMapp, the pharmaceutical had only been tested on animals when
administered to two Americans infected with Ebola, and the patients have
shown drastic improvements since receiving the treatment. RT’s Manila
Chan takes a look at the drug and why the world’s leading medical
authorities are willing to use the untested chemical cocktail.

W.H.O. says it’s okay for drug companies to conduct medical experiments on Ebola patients

W.H.O. says it's okay for drug companies to conduct medical experiments on Ebola patients

http://www.davidicke.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/Science-Experiments-Vaccine-Ebola-Victims.jpg

‘A panel of World Health Organization “ethicists” has declared it is ethically acceptable for
drug companies to run medical experiments on Ebola victims. “The WHO panel unanimously
concluded that it is ethical to offer medications to fight the Ebola virus, even if their
effectiveness or adverse effects are unknown,” reports CNN.

This is a fascinating decision because it immediately reveals the huge contradiction found in
western medicine. According to proponents of vaccines and medications, such treatments are
“evidence-based medicine” because they’ve all been clinically proven to be safe and effective,
we’re told. But now, when people are dying of Ebola, suddenly all that gets thrown out the
window. Who needs proven safety and effectiveness when there’s “faith” in an experimental
serum or vaccine?’

Faith alone, it seems, is now the standard for evidence-based medicine according to the
World Health Organization.

Shouldn't we use these treatments if they can save lives?
As CNN reports, Dr. Marie-Paule Kieny, WHO's assistant director-general, asked "If these
treatments can save lives ... should we not use them to save lives?"

And there's the faith, as glaring as a bald head on a sunny day at the beach. Dr. Kieny has
already assumed the treatments "save lives" even when there is zero scientific evidence to
support that conclusion. Will the scientific community now publicly condemn Dr. Kieny for
making a "statement of faith with no scientific basis" in regards to experimental Ebola
treatments? Or is this faith acceptable because it happens to align with the financial interests
of the pharmaceutical sector and the unproven faith-based beliefs of its proponents?

Why are parents in the United States thrown in jail for praying for their sick children while the
World Health Organization is invoking essentially the same thing -- faith -- as an ethical
justification for using Ebola victims as human guinea pigs? It's a valid ethical question.

Saving lives is not exclusive to pharmaceutical medicine
Dr. Kieny's question, by the way, is very important to remember. She asks, "should we not
use them to save lives?" It's a valid question, and if we are to be intellectually consistent with
the world, the answer must encompass much more than just Big Pharma's experimental
drugs and vaccines.

Because aren't there cancer patients dying from cancer while not being allowed to take
experimental drugs? The western medical system strongly condemns alternative cancer
clinics, too, stating their treatments aren't "scientifically proven." Why are Ebola victims
now suddenly granted the ethical clearance to accept unproven, untested treatments when
cancer patients, AIDS patients and a long list of other patients are denied the treatments of
their choice?

If an Ebola victim can voluntarily decide to put their life at risk with an experimental,
unproven drug, why shouldn't a cancer patient be allowed the same freedom of choice
regarding treatment with wheat grass juicing or intravenous vitamin C treatments at a
complementary medicine cancer clinic in the USA? Doctors who promote such treatments
for cancer are repeatedly arrested and thrown in jail in the United States. How can those
doctors be condemned for offering well-documented cancer recovery therapies in the USA
while Big Pharma's doctors are celebrated in West Africa for treating patients with
experimental chemicals that have unknown side effects which may include death?

Cancer kills far more people than Ebola: so why are alternative cancer therapies not "ethical?"
The World Health Organization says Ebola is a special case because they're "trying to save lives."
Oh really? And alternative cancer doctors aren't?

The W.H.O. says "The large number of people affected by the 2014 west Africa outbreak,
and the high case-fatality rate, have prompted calls to use investigational medical
interventions to try to save the lives of patients and to curb the epidemic."

But the Ebola outbreak has only killed a little over 1,000 people, while cancer takes
hundreds of thousands of lives annually in the USA alone. Furthermore, the W.H.O. language
choice of "investigational medical interventions" is just doublespeak for "medical experiments."

All patients should be free to choose the treatments they wish
So if the new ethical standard for medicine is going to be that victims of fatal diseases should
now have the ethical right to choose an unproven, untested treatment, then clearly that
freedom of choice should extend far beyond western (pharmaceutical) medicine. Because an
unproven experimental pharmaceutical serum has no more scientific basis for treatment than,
say, a voodoo doll and a bag of magic wands.

I actually agree with the ethics of allowing victims of serious diseases to consciously consent
to experimental treatments, by the way. But unlike people steeped in the pharma brainwashing
of the western medical system, my philosophy is consistent across the board: If experimental
western medicine is allowed, then experimental medicines of all kinds should also be allowed.
After all, 80% of the world's population uses systems of medicine other than western medicine.
Are all those people to be called "unethical" because their "investigatory medical interventions"
happen to use herbs instead of patented pharmaceuticals?

Today I want to thank the World Health Organization for proving Natural News right yet again:
Western medicine isn't "evidence-based medicine" after all. And the idea that all medicines
should be proven safe and effective is now being openly abandoned by the largest health
authority on the planet.

This sets a precedent that should be aggressively cited by proponents of alternative and
complementary medicine to support the ethical justification of treatments offered by
complementary and alternative medicine. After all, as Dr. Kieny says herself: "If these
treatments can save lives ... should we not use them to save lives?"

Of course we should. ALL of them.

Ebola drug given to US aid workers

With hundreds of cases of Ebola in Africa, a panel of World Health Organization (WHO)
experts has declared it is ethical to use experimental drugs in this current outbreak.

What is the current treatment for Ebola?

There is no licensed treatment or vaccine for the Ebola virus. Hospital treatment is based
on giving patients intravenous fluids to stop dehydration and antibiotics to fight infections.
Strict medical infection control and rapid burial are regarded as the best means of prevention.

What about experimental treatments?

Several experimental treatments for Ebola are being developed, which have shown promising
results in monkeys when given up to five days after infection. However, they have not been
tested in more than a handful of people and none has been licensed.

Two US aid workers had been given an experimental treatment, known as Zmapp, with
"apparently encouraging" signs in one of them, said Prof Tom Solomon, director of the
NIHR Health Protection Research Unit in Emerging and Zoonotic infections. The treatment
is a mixture of three monoclonal antibodies that attack proteins on the surface of the virus.
Another experimental drug, developed by Tekmira Pharmaceuticals in Canada, has been
tested on monkeys and in a handful of healthy human volunteers. The drug, TKM-Ebola,
is designed to target strands of genetic material of the virus (RNA). The drug interrupts
the genetic code of the virus and prevents it from making disease-causing proteins. A
small early safety trial on a small number of human volunteers was put on hold last
month when regulators requested further safety data. The Fcompany is hopeful that it
may get the go-ahead to continue the trial and is willing to make the drug available.
The US-based pharmaceutical company, Sarepta Therapeutics, has developed a similar
RNA treatment. It has been tested in healthy human volunteers in early safety trials,
but has never been tried in a human patient.
What is serum?

Serum - the part of the blood that contains antibodies that can target and neutralise
the disease - has been used in past Ebola outbreaks. Survivors have high levels of
antibodies against the virus in their blood. In one outbreak in 1995 in the Democratic
Republic of Congo, seven out of eight patients survived after being treated with serum
from survivors, according to Prof Solomon. The WHO says serum could be used as a
potential treatment in this current outbreak if methods are developed to collect and
administer it safely.

What other approaches are being tried?

Scientists have been working on a number of prototype vaccines against Ebola. The
WHO says further trials would start soon and potential vaccines may be available in 2016.

The Food and Drug Administration in the US says it is fast-tracking a vaccine that
has shown encouraging signs in monkeys for phase 1 trials in September.

This type of trial is the earliest study in humans and aims to make sure that drugs
are safe and show some chance of working.

What are the chances of success?

Experts say pharmaceutical companies are unlikely to invest the huge resources
needed to develop new drugs when these would probably be used only occasionally
in relatively small numbers of people. They say investment is needed from international
agencies to have any realistic chance of success in the future.

WHO: 'Unanimous agreement' on untested Ebola drugs12 August 2014 Last updated at 14:58 BST

Untested drugs can be used to treat patients infected with the Ebola virus, the
World Health Organization has said.

At a meeting in Switzerland, it was decided that such a move was ethical in light
of the scale of the outbreak and high number of deaths in west Africa in recent weeks.

Dr Marie-Paule Kieny from the WHO said that there has been "unanimous agreement"
among experts to allow the use of the drugs, as long as certain caveats were met.

The ethics dilemma
Fear factor
On the front line

Canada says it will donate up to 1,000 doses of an experimental Ebola vaccine to
help battle the disease's outbreak in West Africa. It comes after the World Health
Organization said it was ethical to use untested drugs on Ebola patients.

However, experts say supplies of both the vaccine and the experimental drug
Zmapp are limited and it could take months to develop more supplies.

More than 1,000 people have been killed by the current outbreak.

Canada says between 800 and 1,000 doses of the vaccine, which has only been
tested on animals, will be donated to the World Health Organization (WHO) for use
in West Africa.

However, it will keep a small portion of the vaccine for research, and in case it is
needed in Canada.

'Global resource'

The current outbreak has infected people in Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia and
Nigeria.Dr Gregory Taylor, deputy head of Canada's Public Health Agency, said he
saw the vaccines as a "global resource".

He said he had been advised that it would make sense for health care workers to be
given the vaccine, given their increased risk of contracting the disease.

http://news.bbcimg.co.uk/media/images/76908000/jpg/_76908558_ee26e697-be8d-4a87-9eb4-2e5acfedacb6.jpg

Health workers load the body of a man found on the street, suspected of dying
from the Ebola virus, in the capital city of Monrovia, Liberia, 12 August, 2014 The
current outbreak kills about 55% of those infected

Even if Canada releases most of its existing doses, experts warn it could take four
to six months to make a quantity large enough to have any real impact at
preventing the illness, the BBC's Lee Carter reports from Toronto.

On Tuesday, the WHO said that in light of scale of the outbreak and high number of
deaths, it was "ethical to offer unproven interventions with as yet unknown efficacy
and adverse effects, as potential treatment or prevention."

Last week the WHO declared the Ebola outbreak was a global health emergency.

Map: Ebola in West Africa
'Drug supply exhausted'

Liberia says it is getting an experimental drug, Zmapp, after requests to the US
government.

However, the WHO said there were only 12 doses.

Zmapp maker Mapp Biopharmaceutical said on Tuesday: "The available supply of
ZMapp has been exhausted. We have complied with every request for ZMapp that
had the necessary legal/regulatory authorisation.

"Drug has been provided at no cost in all cases."

Zmapp has been used on two US aid workers who have shown signs of
improvement, although it is not certain what role the medication played in this.

A Roman Catholic priest, infected with Ebola in Liberia, who died after returning
home to Spain is also thought to have been given the drug.

Ebola's initial flu-like symptoms can lead to external haemorrhaging from areas
such as eyes and gums, and internal bleeding which can lead to organ failure.
Patients have a better chance of survival if they receive early treatment.

line
What drugs exist currently ?

There are a handful of drugs that have been shown to work well in animals.

One is Zmapp - the drug requested by the Liberian government. This contains a
cocktail of antibodies that attack proteins on the surface of the virus.

Only one drug has moved on to early safety testing in humans. Known as TKM-
Ebola, this interrupts the genetic code of the virus and prevents it from making
disease-causing proteins.

The drug was trialled in healthy volunteers at the beginning of 2014 but the
American medicines regulator asked for further safety information. The
manufacturer says human studies may soon resume.

Another option would be to use serum from individuals who have survived the virus
- this is a part of the blood that may contain particles able to neutralise the virus.

Vaccines to protect against acquiring the disease have also been shown to work in
primates. American authorities are considering fast-tracking their development and
say they could be in use in 2016. Trials are likely to start soon, according to the WHO.

But experts warn that ultimately the only way to be sure a drug or vaccine is
effective is to see if it works in countries affected by Ebola.

Ebola Virus: Hospitals Take Extraordinary Precautions

Health Authorities Take Measures Beyond Those Recommended by Experts

By Betsy McKay

‘The Ebola outbreak in West Africa has prompted hospitals and health authorities in
other countries to take precautions that often go beyond experts’ recommendations,
showing the impact of public concern about the deadly disease.

Health officials in Charlotte, N.C., are taking no chances with three missionaries who
returned to the U.S. earlier this week from Liberia. All had contact with patients sick
with Ebola. So even though they are healthy, the three have been quarantined on the
campus of the religious organization for which they work.’

Quarantining people who were exposed to Ebola but don't have symptoms is unusual.
But their employer and the public health department say they want to go the extra
mile. "We want to be overly cautious," said Stephen Keener, medical director of the
Mecklenburg County Health Department, which issued a quarantine order for the missionaries.

(Ebola virus update: Nigerian patients to be given experimental drug).

The measure was taken "so the public can be reassured of how we're handling this,"
said Bruce Johnson, president of SIM USA, the organization for which the missionaries
work. The three—two doctors and the husband of one of the infected Americans
evacuated earlier to the U.S.—have been quarantined for 21 days from their most
recent exposure, the maximum incubation period for the virus.

(Ebola virus update: Experimental drugs approved for use in fighting outbreak in West Africa).

The three are staying in recreational vehicles on a 90-acre campus with other missionaries
and children who also were in Liberia but not exposed to Ebola, he said.

Only a few Ebola victims will have access to an experimental treatment that was effective
in treating monkeys with the virus. What other options are there for halting Ebola from
spreading, and for treating those already infected? WSJ's Jason Bellini has #TheShortAnswer.

Health authorities and doctors elsewhere are going to lengths to prevent the world's largest
outbreak of Ebola from spreading. Some are exceeding measures recommended by agencies
such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Others are taking precautions used
for diseases that are highly contagious because they spread through the air, while Ebola
spreads only through contact with bodily fluids of an infected person.

But they say the deadly nature of Ebola, which has killed 54% of those infected in the current
outbreak and up to 90% in other outbreaks, and concerns from the public justify the precautions.
Reports of possible cases from New York City to Hong Kong have alarmed some in the public,
though fears subsided somewhat after all tested negative.

"Ebola has a higher mortality rate among those infected and it's very important that all
exposures are prevented," said David Kuhar, a medical officer leading the health-care
infection control team for the Ebola response at the CDC.

Some airlines have suspended flights to Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia, three of the affected
nations. Sales of face masks have exploded in West Africa, and immigration officers in Nigeria,
Ghana and Liberia are wearing them. Zambia banned entry to citizens from the four affected
West African nations, including Nigeria.

(Ebola virus update: Tekmira evaluating options for using experimental drug).

Current CDC guidelines call for people who are at high risk of exposure to Ebola, but who don't
have symptoms, to take their temperatures twice daily for 21 days, avoid long-distance travel,
consult with health authorities on local travel and symptoms, and stay close to a hospital that
can treat Ebola in case they develop symptoms.

The special isolation unit at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta where two infected Americans
are being treated was designed for patients with diseases more contagious than Ebola, such as
SARS. While technically they could be treated in any hospital capable of isolating a patient in a
single room, the Emory facility has staff specially trained in infection control and an ambulance
equipped to transport infectious patients.

Given the high-profile nature of the cases and the high death rate of Ebola, "it's reassuring and
instills some confidence," said Alex Isakov, an emergency medicine physician at Emory.

In New York City, Mount Sinai Hospital health staff wore respirators and hood-like devices on
their heads, in addition to standard gear recommended by the CDC, when they treated a man
last week who was suspected of having Ebola but released after testing negative for the disease.

Standard CDC guidelines call for hospital staff to wear gowns, gloves, face masks and eye
protection. That is all that is routinely needed for treating single patients in an isolation unit in a
U.S. hospital, as compared to an Ebola treatment center in Africa full of very ill patients, infection-
control experts say. But CDC guidelines also say that additional protective clothing or respirators
can be used in certain situations, such if a patient needs to be intubated, to prevent infection.

The measures are "not strictly necessary, but we allowed them for the comfort of the staff," said
David Reich, Mount Sinai's president. Staff had seen pictures of health workers in Africa and at
Emory wearing full gear, including the hoods, he said.

(Ebola virus: Spanish priest dies of virus in Madrid hospital).

"It doesn't hurt to be cautious," he said. The hospital, like others in the U.S., is taking careful
travel histories from patients to quickly identify and isolate potential Ebola patients.
