Thanks for posting this. I read Dr. Mary's Monkey last year - was a real eye opener. At the time my brother-in-law was receiving chemo and radiation at the New Orleans' lab's sister institute in the Northeast U.S.

The people of the city where it is located are very proud of the place, to the extent that many, many kids, churches, sports teams (kids and pro), schools, etc. have special events to raise money to donate "for research", The institute even asked my brother-in-law to speak at a fundraiser nine months into treatment, as if he was cured. He died three months later.

I'm not bitter about the place because my brother-in-law died. I'm bitter because they used my brother-in-law (and continue to use other families when they are so vulnerable) to help them raise money for their cancer research, cancer being something they had a hand in creating.
