I think we've all seen the video clip of the family that vanishes after an alien abduction.

As some of us thought, it was an amateur film, but the interesting thing is that years later this small venture
was picked up by none other than Dick Clark Productions and remade into a feature length 'authentic' alien abduction
tape to be aired on UPN. Against the writer's wishes, UPN ran no disclaimers as to the film's fanciful nature -- very dishonest.
Here's the remake with added 'expert' opinions, including Stanton Friedman
(hope he gots lots of cash, because this did nothing for his reputation, but to be fair, it looks like he was duped like so many others):

And to really put this thing to bed, here's a link to a blog entry by the director, writer and original producer of the
Lake County Incident tape. His story is fascinating. To writer/director Dean Alioto's credit, his work looks to be the
precursor to The Blair Witch Project:
