‘Active Shooter’ Was Just a Dad Shopping for an Airsoft Gun; Shot Dead In Toy Section

Several eyewitnesses to the event are claiming a completely different scenario from what Johnson said in her statement. One person who called 9/11 told police that Crawford had been pointing the gun at children and waving it around. Another caller stated that Crawford had a loaded gun and was about to start shooting people. Several Walmart employees locked themselves in the back closet, after one shopper yelled that they had been shot.
Since the incident, Crawford family members contacted civil rights organizations claiming that the shooting was not justified. The officers involved in the shooting are currently on paid leave.
