Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAP) in the UK Air Defence Region

During a policy review in 1996 into the handling of Unidentified Aerial Phenomena sighting reports received by the Ministry of Defence, a study was undertaken to determine the potential value, if any, of such reports to Defence Intelligence. Consistent with Ministry of Defence policy, the available data was studied principally to ascertain whether there is any evidence of a threat to the UK, and secondly, should the opportunity arise, to identify any potential military technologies of interest.

The Ministry of Defence has released this report in response to a Freedom of Information request and we are pleased to now make it available to a wider audience via the MOD Freedom of Information Publication Scheme. Where indicated information is withheld in accordance with Section 26 (Defence), Section 27 (International Relations) and Section 40 (Personal Information) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

Love it.

From the Executive Summary ...

9. Based on all the available evidence remaining the Department (reported over the last 30 years), the information studied, either separately or corporately contained in UAP (Unidentified Ariel Phenomena) reports, leads to the conclusion that it does not have any significant Defense Intelligence value. However, the Study has uncovered a number of technological issues that may be of interest.

Then just in case anyone thought they saw a UAP/UFO ...

13. (key supporting findings are)
* The close proximity of plasma related fields can adversely affect a vehicle or person. For this to occur the UAP must be encountered at very close ranges. A probable modulated magnetic, electric, or electromagnetic (or even unknown field), appears to emanate from some of the buoyant charged masses. Local fields of this type (probably either an electromagnic near-field, or a direct magnetic field) have been medically proven to cause responses in the temporal lobes of the human brain. These result in the observer sustaining (and later describing and retaining) his or her own vivid, but mainly incorrect description of what is experienced ...

So even if you saw a UFO, the MOD have medically proven that what you saw was not real and you imagined it, due to some yet to be determined electromagnetic effect ....
