The Avalon forum used to be a dark place. It was all about going into the mountains and making communities to prepare for doonsday, cos of what the latest doomer testimonial said.

Now it looks like a few of us with common sense have started useful threads.

Bill has done a good job keeping out the riff raff with those ridiculous essays he makes you write when you sign up. Very few trolls here.

I never saw it as a dark place, i always saw it as balanced, in most cases ppl are drawn to drama , and shear curiosity with drama and they down even realize it. hence making it seem dark once they leave. but to me it has always been pretty much balanced. But that's just me.

It has been a wonderful evolution to observe and be a small part of IMHO. The core membership and strong ethic's of Bill and the MOD's has been what has kept this site from devolving into a pit or just burn out and disappeared like others have.

There was a time of growth and social adjustment as a group and as individuals in the threads. I remember some members getting upset and screaming "fearporn" at everyone that was into prepping or were following the beginning's of the Cabal demise as well as the wave of disinfo that people made money pushing or freaking out that the forums weren't breaking the way they wanted... But they usually either mellowed or people discovered the block user function (I remember doing that a few times when I first joined, I found my self caught in forum bear traps several times in the beginning) :) There are still a few snipers among us.

There have been some incidents and Troll infiltrations and just plane troubled souls but they were handled quickly and tactfully (Not all agreed at the time('s) and some MOD's caught some guff) but time ended up bearing fruit for the community.

Avalon has survived quite a bit and has grown even more, I have been proud to be a very small part of it.

Oh my. Hmmm...since I live in the mountains in a community and we are prepared to be completely self sufficient should the need arise (and had a very good, successful practice run when isolated for two weeks after the flood) does that mean I'm dark?

No. That sounds like common sense, self sufficiency, natural living and a lot of fun. Any human worth his salt will have some food and water stored. I take a few precautions, and am doing my best to get EVERYONE back to common sense minimum self reliance.

Im talking about mega threads on every comet that comes near Earth, believing every time frame from fake whistleblowers, saying that every middle east skirmish is the start of WWIII, and a thousand other pointless chicken little speculation-fests. Its people's right to start these discussions, and its my right to call them out.

I've posted questionable info from the OPPT and Cobra, and ppl told me it was no good. So we all post our share of misinfo.

Look at that stupid 100 page Elenin thread. I can't stand that nonsense. Luckily, a lot of that has calmed down, and we have a great balance of posters.

Hopefully, this is just the start.

In the short time that I have been a member here, I have seen the resolve of the forum and it's members grow and evolve so much!
What a great journey Avalon has made ;)

Yes there is much in the world that is frightening and wrong! but now members have grown over it all, and have a So-Much-Wisdom and Great-positive-Energy to spend on the world now! and it's because of the collective that is Avalon! I'm so honored to be part of you all!
