Archaeologists have discovered that Stonehenge had a huge stone sibling just two miles to the north-east.
Using powerful ground-penetrating radar, which can ‘X-ray’ archaeological sites to a depth of up to four metres, investigators from Birmingham and Bradford universities and from the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute in Vienna have discovered a 330-metre long line of more than 50 massive stones, buried under part of the bank of Britain’s largest pre-historic henge.
“Up till now, we had absolutely no idea that the stones were there,” said the co-director of the investigation Professor Vince Gaffney of Birmingham University.
http://www.independent.co.uk/incoming/article9722405.ece/alternates/w460/pg-10-stonehenge-2.jpg
Investigators discovered evidence of dozens of new monuments close to Stonehenge
The geophysical evidence suggests that each buried stone is roughly three metres long and 1.5 metres wide and is positioned horizontally, not vertically, in its earthen matrix.
However, it’s conceivable that they originally stood vertically in the ground like other standing stones in Britain. It is thought that they were probably brought to the site shortly before 2500BC.
They seem to have formed the southern arm of a c-shaped ritual ‘enclosure’, the rest of which was made up of an artificially scarped natural elevation in the ground.
The c-shaped enclosure – more than 330 metres wide and over 400 metres long – faced directly towards the River Avon. The monument was later converted from a c-shaped to a roughly circular enclosure, now known as Durrington Walls – Britain’s largest pre-historic henge, roughly 12 times the size of Stonehenge itself.
http://www.independent.co.uk/incoming/article9722406.ece/alternates/w460/pg-10-stonehenge-3.jpg
The ground-penetrating radar can detect archaeological sites to a depth of four metres
As a religious complex, it would almost certainly have had a deeply spiritual and ritual connection with the river. But precisely why is a complete mystery, although it is possible that that particular stretch of water was regarded as a deity.
The discovery of the buried stones is part of a much wider archaeological investigation into Stonehenge’s sacred landscape.
A two-part special BBC Two documentary (Operation Stonehenge: What Lies Beneath), being shown this Thursday evening and next Thursday, is set to reveal the details of many of the investigation’s new discoveries.
As well as revealing the previously unknown stones of Durrington Walls, the Anglo-Austrian-led investigation has succeeded in locating more than 60 other previously unknown pre-historic monuments.
“It shows that, in terms of temples and shrines, Stonehenge was far from being alone,” said Professor Gaffney.
Using ground-penetrating radar, magnetometry and other geophysical techniques to peer beneath the landscape’s surface, archaeologists have found around 17 other henge-like Neolithic and Bronze Age religious monuments, each between 10 and 30 metres in diameter. Some may well have consisted of circles of large timber posts – wooden equivalents of conventional prehistoric stone circles.
But the archaeologists have also discovered around 20 large and enigmatic ritual pits – each up to five metres in diameter.

They have also discovered more than half a dozen previously unknown Bronze Age burial mounds – and four Iron Age shrines or tombs, as well as half a dozen Bronze Age and Iron Age domestic or livestock enclosures.
In total, some 4.5 square miles of buried landscape has been surveyed by the joint Birmingham/Vienna team in an exercise that has taken four years to complete.
Now the archaeologists plan to analyse the new data – in order to work out how all the newly discovered prehistoric monuments related to each other.
Using avatar-based computer models, they are hoping to tease out exactly how Neolithic and Bronze Age people used Stonehenge’s landscape.
Initial results suggest that some of the newly discovered shrines and other monuments grew up along processional ways or pilgrimage routes in Stonehenge’s sacred landscape.
The 4.5 square mile survey is the largest of its kind ever carried out anywhere in the world.
The large variety of ‘x-ray’ style techniques used have included more than half a dozen different systems.
Magnetometry and electro-magnetic induction have been used to map underground features by firing electro magnetic energy into the ground and then measuring the inter-action of that energy with subterranean features such as buried pits, ditches and stones.
Earth resistance and electrical resistivity imaging have gathered data on underground features by firing electrical energy into the ground and measuring differences in sub-surface resistance to it.
A fifth technique, magnetic susceptibility analysis, helps archaeologists detect buried layers of burnt material, which often indicate ancient human activity. The system works because naturally occurring iron oxides in the ground can become magnetized through the process of being burnt. A final technique, microgravimetry, can also help detect subterranean features, especially cavities – by measuring tiny differences in local gravitational fields.
The four year investigation into what lies beneath Stonehenge’s landscape has been carried out jointly by four UK universities (Birmingham, Bradford, St. Andrews and Nottingham) and two continental European institutions – the University of Ghent in Belgium and the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute in Austria.

Stonehenge secrets revealed by underground mapBy Maria Dasi Espuig
Science reporter, Birmingham
Archaeologists have unveiled the most detailed map ever produced of the earth beneath
Stonehenge and its surrounds.
They combined different instruments to scan the area to a depth of three metres, with
unprecedented resolution.
Early results suggest that the iconic monument did not stand alone, but was accompanied
by 17 neighbouring shrines.
Future, detailed analysis of this vast collection of data will produce a brand new account of
how Stonehenge's landscape evolved over time.
Among the surprises yielded by the research are traces of up to 60 huge stones or pillars
which formed part of the 1.5km-wide "super henge" previously identified at nearby Durrington Walls.
"For the past four years we have been looking at this amazing monument to try and see
what was around it," Prof Vincent Gaffney, from the University of Birmingham, said at
the British Science Festival.
The research is also described in BBC Two documentary to be screened on Thursday.
"What was within its landscape?"
Most of the land surrounding Stonehenge had not been surveyed in this manner before and
Prof Gaffney, the project's lead researcher, said one key question always remained: "Was
it really an excluded place, where only special people would come?"
The team's new three-dimensional map, which covers an area of 12 sq km or 1,250
football fields, shows that this was not the case.
http://news.bbcimg.co.uk/media/images/77488000/jpg/_77488109_77488108.jpg
Stonehenge scanning The team combined different instruments to scan the area with unprecedented resolution
Researchers used six different techniques to scan the whole site at different depths below the surface.
Amongst their instruments was a magnetometer, a ground-penetrating radar (GPR) and a 3D laser scanner.
Nishad Karim, a researcher at the University of Leicester, has used similar instrumentation
to reconstruct 16th century Tudor tombs.
She told the BBC: "Using GPR and other techniques, these researchers have been able to virtually
see through the ground and explore what civilization looked like thousands of years ago."
Under one of the numerous mounds, they identified a 33m-long timber building about 6,000 years old,
probably used for ritual burials and related practices, possibly including excarnation (stripping flesh from bones).
"[The building] has three rows of roof-bearing posts. It is around 300 square metres and slightly
trapezoidal, which is interesting because in the same period on the continent, about 100 to 200
years earlier, we also find this type of trapezoidal building related to megaliths [giant stones],"
said Prof Wolfgang Neubauer, director of the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute, which was also involved
in the research.
Another 17 mounds revealed previously unseen ritual monuments about the same age as Stonehenge itself.
http://news.bbcimg.co.uk/media/images/77488000/jpg/_77488111_77488110.jpg
Timber building A number of other nearby sites were associated with the henge, such as this longbarrow
New monuments
http://news.bbcimg.co.uk/media/images/77488000/jpg/_77488249_77488248.jpg
The dating was done based on their shape. "We know what some of these things look like, so we
can classify them," Prof Gaffney explained.
A first inspection of the Cursus and the Durrington Walls, located north and north-east of Stonehenge,
also revealed new insights.
The work unveiled two additional pits inside the prehistoric Cursus, an enormous, elongated circular
trench originally named because it reminded its discoverers of a Roman racing track.
The Cursus is aligned in the East-West direction, and the pits were found one in each end, pointing
to Dusk and Dawn.
This particular alignment is closely related to the position and orientation of Stonehenge, which was
built as we know it some 300 to 500 years later.
The large separation in time indicates that both monuments were not conceived or planned as a whole.
"The structures guide the builders. Once you have some things in place, other things happen because
those already exist," explained Prof Gaffney.
He and his team also found evidence of huge stones or timber posts lying three metres below the
mounds that form the Durrington Walls.
"[These solid blocks] completely redefine the development of the Durrington Walls," he told the BBC.
Stonehenge monuments Techniques used by the team allowed them to "see" through the ground to
uncover new ancient monuments
All of these preliminary findings reflect the complexity of the landscape's history and evolution, which
will be slowly uncovered once the researchers start the in-depth analysis of the data.
http://news.bbcimg.co.uk/media/images/77488000/jpg/_77488115_77488114.jpg
That analysis will reveal more precisely how the site evolved through the ages.
"We are starting to see the growth of fields encroaching on it. That's important because it tells us
about changing relationships to Stonehenge," Prof Gaffney said.
"Eventually, we start to see the living returning, bringing agriculture. It becomes more the archaeology
of the mundane, rather than the arcane."
Dr Nick Snashall, National Trust Archaeologist for the Avebury and Stonehenge World Heritage Site,
said: "Using 21st-century techniques, the Stonehenge Hidden Landscapes team has transformed our
knowledge of this ancient, precious and very special landscape.
"Their work has revealed a clutch of previously unsuspected sites and monuments showing how much
of the story of this world-famous archaeological treasure house remains to be told."
Operation Stonehenge: What Lies Beneath is shown on BBC Two at 2000 on Thursday 11 September.

New Evidence Lost Civilizations Really Existed

New Evidence Lost Civilizations Really Existed
http://www.davidicke.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/ganung-padang-300x225.jpg
‘What if everything you’ve been taught about the origins of civilization is wrong?
Be it that certain pieces of our history have been intentionally hidden, or that we
have yet to discover and realize the true story of our past, new archaeological and
geological discoveries are revealing that sophisticated civilizations have likely
existed in prehistoric times.’
Until recently, the archaeological community has spread the view that the
beginnings of human civilization started after the last Ice Age, which ended around
9,600 BC. All human ancestors prior to this time were recognized as primitive,
uncivilized hunter-gatherers who were incapable of communal organization and
architectural design. It was only after the Ice Age, when huge 2-mile deep ice caps
that covered much of Europe and North America melted, that our human ancestors
started to develop and perfect agriculture, forming more-complex economic and
social structures around 4000 BC. Archaeologists believed that first cities started
around 3500 BC in Mesopotamia and, shortly after, in Egypt. On the European
continent, the oldest megalithic sites are dated around 3,000 BC, and the popular
Stonehenge is dated between 2,400 BC and 1,800 BC.
This is the established chronology being taught in schools and believed by modern
society. Prehistoric societies such as Atlantis have been declared myth.

This is not precisely to the topic but reflecting on the situation of this crumbling world, I think I've got an idea .
Would it help to reset the current calendar year to some more realistic cipher ,
showing how old is human civilisation ?
It would surpass all of those fights and differences between various tribal traditions on Earth and make it clear that they all have been here for millions of years and history , ethnicity, countries, territories , borders ..are all temporary arrangements .
No matter who 'ancients' do all these people refer to ..there was always much longer history predating them ,
common to all mankind .
In current state of geo-political chaos it's something that should be done to elevate human consciousness - and awareness closer to its real status .
I suggest adopting year number .. 84 000 002 for 2014 . 2014 is nothing, it says nothing, it's not real .

I went to Stonehenge last week, it's very different to the last time I went there a few years ago.
THEY have closed two roads that gave access to the site, THEY have erected a large "visitors centre"
And THEY are charging £15 a pop to view the stones. it's outrageous.
It turns out that a certain US president was visiting the day we went. We turned around and went home.
We had already been to see some interesting stone circles in Cornwall such as the merry maidens circle, fascinating.

Title: ANCIENT CIVILISATIONS AND FREE ENERGY
Run time: 01:15:41 min
Speaker: Michael Tellinger
Produced by: Globalbem
Language: English
Presentation :
Scholars have told us that the first civilization on earth emerged in a land called Sumer some 6000 years ago. Recent archeological findings suggest that the Sumerians may have inherited much of their knowledge from an earlier civilization that emerged many thousands of years earlier in Southern Africa -- the cradle of humankind. Extensive scientific evaluation over a 2-year period has shown hat the circular structures are in fact energy generating devices, using the natural sound harmonic frequencies that emanate from the surface of the Earth.
Adam's calendar is the flagship among these ruins because we can date this monolithic calendar with relative certainty to a time before the "flood event" some 13,000 years ago, and at least 160,000 years of age based on a number of scientific evaluations. The shape of the circular ruins are all very specific and unique because each circle represents the cymatic shapes of the sound energy as it appears on the surface of planet earth at that point. This energy was amplified by simple understanding of harmonics and utilized in the same way that we generate and use LASER and SASER beam technology today. We have measured these energies and electromagnetic waves in spectacular fashion and therefore do not hesitate to make these claims. Some of the sound frequencies go into the extremely Giga hertz levels (over 380 Giga hertz) which are unheard of on Earth today in any normal applications. The fact that these circles are all connected by the tone channels makes it very clear to any scientist who works with electricity of energy that this vanished civilization had a keen understanding of energy that still escapes us today. Southern Africa was a giant energy grid that was all connected for the purposed of mining gold and all other activity necessary for supporting the vast population that lasted for over 270,000 years until it was wiped out by the flood some 12,000 years ago.
Michael also shows how the manipulation of the human race has continued for over 250,000 years by exposing the origins of the royal bloodlines and how they continue to manipulate human activity today, mainly by controlling the supply of energy and the control of money. Based on his discoveries, Michael Tellinger proposes a new social structure to liberate humanity from its eternal enslavement. A philosophy for the survival and prosperity of the human race that he calls CONTRIBUTIONISM.

Incredible archaeological find suggests a thriving and advanced civilisation lived on the moor some 5,000 years ago

Bronze Age Britain: Dartmoor was home to an astonishing ancient community
Archaeologists have discovered a massive ancient stone circle (http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/stonehenge-underground-map-reveals-vast-4192006) on Dartmoor which could be older than Stonehenge (http://www.mirror.co.uk/all-about/stonehenge).
The mysterious ruined structure is the first circle to be found on the moor for more than a century and is evidence the area was home to an advanced ancient civilisation (http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/dartmoor-bronze-age-artefacts-find-1715700).
Although the 30 stones fell down an estimated 4,000 years ago, they would once formed a forbidding circle standing 34 metres wide.
The newly-discovered henge is thought to have formed part of a "sacred arc" of stone circles around Dartmoor's north-eastern edge and is the highest rock ring in southern England.
There is evidence fires were lit inside these stones, suggesting our ancient ancestors used them for religious rites or feasting.

VIEW GALLERY (http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/technology-science/science/mysterious-stone-circle-discovered-dartmoor-5682816)
Mike Nendick, an archeology expert and spokesperson for Dartmoor National Parks, painted an evocative picture of what this arc may have looked like.
"It's speculation, but it might be that you had ceremonies on dark, clear nights, with flames visible from one circle to the other," he told Mirror Online.
"These stone enclosures stood on remote moorland and looked across the hills.
"It's incredible to imagine this civilisation, who would have spoken an alien language and behaved totally differently to modern-day British people."
Archaeologists used carbon testing to reveal the age of the stones. By testing the peat underneath the fallen rocks, they found the huge slabs fell over roughly 4,000 years ago and may have first been erected as far back into history as 3,000 BC.
Stonehenge is thought to have been built between 3,000 and 2,000 BC.

Human Rites: Tourism has replaced religion as the main reason to visit Stonehenge (Getty)
It is known that a large and thriving civilisation lived on Dartmoor. Previous discoveries show they buried kings with great pomp and ceremony - and at massive expense.
Our ancestors are also thought to have mined tin to make bronze, traded with partners as far away as the Baltic and created weapons or trinkets of astonishing beauty.
In a nod to modern life, Nendick added, they also wore jewelry which will be familiar to anyone who's lived in the trendier parts of modern Britain: ear stretchers.
The grave of a girl aged between 14 and 24 showed she wore devices to make huge holes in her ears and lips (http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-news/amazing-picture-woman-mouth-bigger-4408211).
"There's nothing new in the world," Nendick joked.

"How Stonehenge Was Built?" |
Wally Wallington Can Move Anything!
Key Notes: Monuments like Stonehenge are found all over the globe, and can be dated back to a period beyond 4000 years.
Many books and mainstream archaeologists suggest otherwise, that these monuments were built no longer than 4000 years ago. However, growing new evidence has come to light over the years that proves these structures are far older than we once thought.
Even 'til this day modern science and engineering do not know "How Stonehenge Was Built?" the complexity and the ingenuity required to construct the wonders that are The Great Pyramids of Egypt.
Ancient structures like Stonehenge, The Egyptian pyramids, Mesoamerican pyramids of South America etc. date back 10,000 - 12,000 years or more! What does this mean?
Well I leave that up to you to go and research, find out for yourself and piece together the history of our ancient ancestors.
Wally Wallington who is from Michigan is trying to replicate Stonehenge in his back yard, he has shown he can lift stones weighing over a tonne and move a barn with simple mechanisms but with a great understanding of the mechanics and physics.
By himself he has been able to demonstrate it is possible to move stones the size of Stonehenge with his methods.
