Please try (Do… or do not. There is no try. ~ Yoda) to limit them as best you can (I have a short attention span) -- just your favourites!

Please feel free to repeat those already mentioned if they are your favourites as well!

Here are some of mine:

Let this be your motto - Rely on yourself!
For, whether the prize be ribbon or throne,
The victor is he who can go it alone.
~ John Godfrey Saxe

The difference is droll:
The optimist sees the doughnut
But the pessimist sees the hole.
~ McLandburgh Wilson

All you need is love.
~ John Lennon

You are only given a little spark of madness.
You mustn’t lose it.
~ Robin Williams

I went nowhere and found nothing but imagination.
Imagination went nowhere and found nothing but me.
~ JoeEcho

Row, row, row your boat,
Gently down the stream.
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily,
Life is but a dream.
~ sung by Kirk, McCoy, and Spock (yeah, I know, doesn’t really count! :tongue1:)

I would rather have a mind opened by wonder than one closed by belief.
--- Gerry Spence

If you dare to take up the banner of enlightenment, you will be attacked from all sides. From the inside you will be attacked by your own mind and from the outside you will be attacked by everyone else's mind. Anyone who dares to succeed automatically presents a huge threat. If true freedom is going to survive within you, you have to be willing to fight for it. You have to have a sword in each hand at all times. One sword is for your own mind and the other sword is for everyone else's mind. You must be ready to use them. Anyone who wants to be truly free must be willing to stand alone in the truth.
--- Andrew Cohen

Nothing in this world, nothing, works the way you think it does. There's always more to the story.

And the Corollary from the world of theoretical physics:

"There are no facts, save one: There are no facts. Everything else - is theory."

ie, that paradox is the only position, in this reality, sliding from one state to the next.

Which is that thing about differential being the only living thing, but it is not the differential that exists, but the self of recognition that exists between the two points as 'differential'.

Ie, time, mass, energy, consciousness..potential.....as differential.

I am glad that Avalon keeps thread posts for years so we can refer back to them when we want. Some for inspiration (again) and some for laughs (again) among other things....

When I was young and I was complaining and saying: ''I can't do it '' My mom was always saying: ''Can't do it is dead ! his brother's name is ''TRY'' ''

In french it was: ''Je suis pas capable'' et ma mère disait: ''pas capable est mort ! Son frère s'appelle essaie !'' hhahaa...
Do you speak french Pris ?

So i'm aligne with your saying :D

Lol! So, 'I can't do it' and 'try' are both dead?... Don't know why... made me think of Uncle Soon Dead & Aunt Gonna-Bite-It (Thumb Wars)! Sorry, my mind is wondering. :biggrin1:

I don't speak French... Although, I used to be quite good at it... I only remember a wee bit from high school. :P

I'm better at comprehending German. :)

I really like this one and this is my signature:

"The birth of my daughter was my healing. I claimed my body back. I stopped being a victim. And I happened to marry a man who, because he's British, was not ingrained with that religious seed that America can scatter. He believes in a woman's right to her own sovereignty. It took the love of a good man. When I was reverting back into my, let's say, perversions, he would say: "Let's go get an ice cream. I am not going to enable you. If you can only come as a wanton woman for hire, because you feel dirty and shamed, then no. Women are goddesses." And I know that and I believe that. I chose a man who believed that too." ~ Tori Amos

That's a good one, Sentinel -- and if I may say, welcome to Avalon! :)

You got me thinking...

Apparently, the darkness is full of light. You just can't see the light until something blocks it.

Considering the source of light, what is it except that which emerges from darkness? If it emerges from darkness, then perhaps it is the end product of darkness, and what we consider to be 'darkness' is actually the Source of everything.

Unless, of course, everything is light. :) And, maybe that's the whole point. 'Light' and 'dark' are the same thing...

Just thinking out loud, lol! ;)

Hey Pris, and thank you for the welcome ;)

Maybe it's all illusory, like Plato's allegory of the cave; we're just shadows on the cave wall, which can't be reality as it is happening but merely an echo of it?

Odd thing is, if i close my eyes i can see light - go figure :)

Thanks
