Tony Blair on Islamic State: 'Don't rule out ground troops'

Short vid on link...http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-29305840

Former Prime Minister Tony Blair has said that sending in combat troops
to fight Islamic State militants on the ground should not be ruled out.

Mr Blair said in a BBC interview: "Unless you're prepared to fight these
people on the ground, you may contain them but you won't defeat them."

He said there was "no appetite for ground engagement in the West" and
that local forces could take on the role.

The jihadists claim to have established a caliphate in Syria and northern Iraq.

Previously known as ISIS, the group has been condemned by the West for
its brutal tactics, including on-camera beheadings.

Tony Blair: People should listen to my advice on Isis as I have been to war in Iraq
beforeThe former Prime Minister says that the lessons he learnt taking decisions
about the fall out from the 2003 war are worth 'appreciating'

‘Tony Blair has said that politicians should heed his advice that British boots on the
ground in Iraq should not be ruled out because he had experience of taking Britain t
o war in that country.

The former Prime Minister said people should “appreciate” that he has learnt
lessons through going to war in Iraq and listen to his thoughts on tackling Islamic
State because they are “precisely” the same terrorist forces he battled during the conflict.

His comments come as Lieutenant General Sir Graeme Lamb, a former director of
British special forces, said it is now time to “rule in” the idea of involving British
ground forces in the conflict.’

Tony Blair: 'Ground troops are necessary to fight Islamic State – diplomacy will not defeat them'

http://www.independent.co.uk/incoming/article9720547.ece/alternates/w620/tony-blair.jpg

‘Tony Blair has urged Britain not to rule out sending ground troops to combat the
Islamic State (Isis), arguing air strikes are not enough to defeat the terrorist group.

In a 6,500 word essay published on his website, the former Prime Minister said that
with the consent of Iraq and Syria and a broad international alliance including Arab
countries, David Cameron could avoid the “weaknesses” of Western strategy after
September 11th.

Mr Blair, whose political career was defined by his decision to follow America into
war in Iraq and Afghanistan, said he fully accepted there is “no appetite” for ground
engagement in the West but it may be necessary.’

Correction: OTHERS have been to war in Iraq before, sent by you, you war-mongering, little pedophile, and your fellow chicken-hawk counterparts in the U.S., including "The Fonz" Bush, seen above staining an appropriated military leather jacket with his hubris and cowardice.
