Looking for a new prescription for serious illness? Take eight intrepid patients, add a team of indigenous medicine men and shamans, and mix for 30 days in the Peruvian Amazon. Suffering from conditions ranging from Parkinson's to prostate cancer to diabetes, these patients are motivated by a commitment to heal naturally and sheer desperation to end their suffering. Immersed in nature, silence and solitude, shamanic medicine ceremonies open them to the emotional and psychological issues underlying their dis-ease. The experienced shamans mindfully harvest and prepare specific remedies for their patients, with treatments that include healing songs and spiritual counsel. Entering the heart of healing in the heart of the Amazon, we find that saving the rainforest really does mean saving ourselves.

Went ahead and purchased the cook book and the DVD in order to show my support for this vital endeavor. Much applause! Thanks for the tip on this seemingly wonderful film.

I have a similar video on DVD. The crew travelled to India and documented many cases of "lost patients" being treated with Ayurvedic medicine (basically plants and herbs, along with spirit). The outcomes were amazing and tear inducing.

I watched the film and thought that it was very well done. The medicine retreats would definitely be worth the cost. It seems expensive but, how much are people with illness paying for health insurance and big pharma drugs?

Given that I belong to a Native American group that does not charge for ceremonies or healing, I feel that the other nature retreat is too expensive. However, many people also feel that they're not getting enough if they don't pay for it.

The work study program is a deal and will teach in other ways too; chop wood, carry water....

I look at this and think how tragic that the medicine people's way of life is changing and becoming westernized but, this may be the only way for the Peruvian people to save their rain forest and the medicine.

I know one curandero here in the U.S. who told me that the Peruvian shamans are begging for people to teach because their own young people aren't interested and they don't want the medicine to be forgotten.

Interesting that you posted a page with honey. For some reason spirit has been pushing me to buy lots of honey. I have maybe 15 big jars of a variety of honeys, all raw and unfiltered. Some with the royal jelly and propolis added. They are quite tasty! I figure they are a great addition to a long term food storage plan.

These were the only "free preview" for the book. I like honey, unfortunately I don't have bees and I can't afford some royal jelly which is said to be a very powerful regenerative, can you confirm this ?

Full of B vitamins, which most are deficient in. Lack of B vitamins is a major cause of heart ailments and could be labeled a form of Beri-beri. Royal Jelly has a list of benefits that is quite long. Small amounts go a long way, so try and buy some when you can. It is said that some kings and queens lived exclusively on raw honey and royal jelly, and lived long healthy lives.

The other day I bought organic Honeydew honey, which I had never heard about but the lady said it was was fantastic for one's health and immune system. I could find very little on the net about it - does anyone know anything more about it?
