I'm taking a class on January 15th on how to build a log home with primitive methods for $10-$20K in materials. Anyone interested in attending? Has anyone else done or attempted something like this?

One of my horn making teachers (Honourable Company of Horners), Master Roland Cadle, builds log cabins. Of course he cheats and uses modern power tools, but he builds them the way the pioneers did two hundred years ago. Link (http://www.villagerestorations.com/)

Have fun, watch your fingers and your toes.

My dad and family built 5 frame houses (stick) but he always wanted to build a log home. We did build a log barn at one of our properties. It was stack wall though. (stacked up like firewood)
Different, but still nice to look at. lol

Now my hubby and I want to build a log home. But working on freeing up finances, paying off current house, and buying more property. (looking to purchase farm land of about 150 acres or more, so we can live off the land eventually.)

Very cool. Where are you looking to buy land?

Not sure yet. Were of torn desires there. I want to stay near this area, (or move south where it's warmer) but hubby wants to move to Colorado. We may have to build two, and just become snow birds! lol

What's the point in buying more land? There's no telling that a piece of paper saying the land is yours will be honoured any more than the little bits of paper you used to buy it

Agreed, but you gotta live somewhere and under the current system it's best to hold title free and clear.
