In light of the recent news I would like to request even more prayer/energy for the families out there with autistic kids, who get little/no help before running out of steam.

These families are pretty much ignored/neglected until the parents literally go nuts.
No one deserves to end like this.
Please help do your part as a global citizen to ensure that people, no matter what their social standing or income, get proper support from their communities through the challenges of ASD.

An Oregon mother who had a breakdown while caring for her autistic son and ailing husband allegedly threw the 6-year-old off a bridge and then called police to tell them, authorities and relatives said Tuesday.
Jillian Meredith McCabe, 34, of Seal Rock, Oregon, was arrested for the killing of her son London, police said. Authorities discovered the boy's body in the waters of Oregon's Yaquina Bay hours after McCabe called 911 late Monday.
On Tuesday afternoon, McCabe made a brief appearance in Lincoln County court — via video conference while wearing restrictive clothing to designed to keep her from hurting herself. A judge ordered her held on $1 million bail on charges of aggravated murder, murder and 1st and 2nd degree manslaughter. She did not enter a plea and the judge set a preliminary hearing in the case for Nov. 12.
In the past, McCabe had spoken and written of "pulling a Thelma and Louise" — a reference to the movie in which two women drive their car off a cliff — as a response to the stresses of her life.

Jordan, 53, displayed little emotion as the verdict was announced at the close of a sensational two-month trial in Manhattan, in which prosecutors described in chilling detail how the businesswoman, who made a fortune in pharmaceuticals, forced little Jude Mirra to swallow a cocktail of painkillers and anti-inflammatories in 2010. Prosecutors said Jordan, who testified that she killed the boy to prevent him from being sexually abused, forced many of the drugs down his throat with a syringe.
Murder trial begins for millionaire
Jordan's defense lawyers, citing legal errors during the long proceedings, said they will appeal and seek a new trial.
"This was not a murder case," defense attorney Norman Siegel said outside court. "And that's because there were extenuating and horrific circumstances. And, apparently the jurors got it."
Defense lawyer Allan Brenner said the verdict was a victory.
"She loved him so much that she couldn't bear the thought of him living without her, or him being subjected to the life she tried to rescue him from," he said. "Any time someone is convicted of a crime, particularly of the crime of having caused the death of a young child, there's nothing to revel in. There's no glory or triumph here. To the extent that the jury has said this was not a mother viciously, violently, coldly doing away with her child, that's a triumph."

As you can see these people's situations tend to be quite complicated,
and as a result of these complications the respective states tend to offer LESS help instead of more.
i.e. bad marriage? you get less help. job? oh you get less help.
so on and so forth.

But in a country where 90 year old men get arrested for feeding street people, I am not really sure at all that help is on the way :(
please pray for all the kids and parents out there.

My sister has an autistic son and I have witnessed and still do, the constant states of anxiety it causes her, her marriage suffered the consequences and ended in divorce. Luckily they live in CT and this state has a lot of programs for autistic children.
Her son is 21 yrs old and was able to graduate from high school, he now goes to a type of group home for the weekend were they teach him how to do basics like holding a bank account, signing checks, but he will always need to be monitored. She and her ex-husband have been doing a great job at taking turn with it.

Thank you for this. pointing these families to the right states (for benefits!) helps them a lot.
before getting tangled up in the court system it's worth checking out states with better services.

(CNN) -- She called him her little Ewok.
Six-year-old London had severe autism, according to an archived blog that his mother, Jillian McCabe, appears to have written in 2011 and 2012. She chronicled what it felt like to realize something was wrong when he was a baby. He wasn't reacting when he heard his name. He didn't show affection or interact. He was missing milestones. When the diagnosis came, she and her husband, Matt -- according to their own social media writings -- devoted their lives to their son.
Then came another enormous blow -- Matt developed multiple sclerosis.
"I'm trying to hold it together," Jillian said in a YouTube video that was posted on her Facebook page but has since been taken down. "It's really hard. I'm losing it a lot."
On Monday evening, the 34-year-old mother walked onto the Yaquina Bay Bridge in Oregon carrying her son, police say, and threw him into the frigid water.
CNN put a very important medical detail in there between the tearjerkers (believe me i cried too).

Child with Autism and Mom with Multiple Sclerosis
Multiple-sclerosis By Sarah Lapinski
Does your child have autism? Do you have MS? No one talks about it, but there seems to be a link, a link between parents of children with autism being diagnosed with MS. I can’t find anyone who is looking into this….why? Why can’t we find information about the link between the two anywhere?
Let me take a step back. For years now I have suffered from dizziness, headaches, vision issues, and other strange symptoms. I had my first MRI and yes there were small, possible spots of demyelination, but I was reassured this is common in most people walking around today. I was told many interesting things by doctors, but most settled on me having an anxiety disorder.
I was told, “You are dizzy because you have four kids”, “You can’t find your words because you have anxiety”, and better yet, “This is all between your ears, Sweetie”. So I talked myself into being very stressed out, and felt my dizziness was because I was anxious.
Years later, after not thinking about MS again, I received an official, unexpected diagnosis of optic neuritis. I knew right away what this meant, and headed back to the neurologist. I told him of my optic neuritis, commonly one of the first signs of MS, and I told him that I felt like I was occasionally slurring my words. He said, “Everyone slurs their words, I slur my words all the time. Look at you, you’re fine, your exam is fine, trust me, those old spots on your MRI could have been dust on the lens.” He agreed to do a second MRI, just to be safe.
and the above account is not the only link between multiple sclerosis and autism.

NY Times: Autism in kids linked to mom automimmune disorders
Postby Mother of 5 » Thu Aug 30, 2012 9:34 am
Hi Everyone!
This New York Times Artilcle links children with Autism to mothers who have autoimmune disorders. M.S. is considered by many to be an autoimmune disorder.
Here are snippets from the article, but it's worth reading the entire article -
"So here’s the short of it: At least a subset of autism — perhaps one-third, and very likely more — looks like a type of inflammatory disease. And it begins in the womb. .... In autistic individuals, the immune system fails at this balancing act. Inflammatory signals dominate. Anti-inflammatory ones are inadequate. A state of chronic activation prevails. And the more skewed toward inflammation, the more acute the autistic symptoms. Nowhere are the consequences of this dysregulation more evident than in the autistic brain. .... the mother’s attempt to repel invaders — her inflammatory response — seems at fault. .... The prevalence of inflammatory diseases in general has increased significantly in the past 60 years. .... One large Danish study, which included nearly 700,000 births over a decade, found that a mother’s rheumatoid arthritis, a degenerative disease of the joints, elevated a child’s risk of autism by 80 percent. Her celiac disease, an inflammatory disease prompted by proteins in wheat and other grains, increased it 350 percent. Genetic studies tell a similar tale. Gene variants associated with autoimmune disease — genes of the immune system — also increase the risk of autism, especially when they occur in the mother. In some cases, scientists even see a misguided immune response in action. Mothers of autistic children often have unique antibodies that bind to fetal brain proteins. .... Fix the maternal dysregulation, and you’ve most likely prevented autism."
The above article mentions the maternal MS vector but doesn't mention paternal viral transmission...
however those of us who have studied thing like SV-40 understand pretty well that although it's more common to see a physical mom-to-kid link w/ the ASD symptoms, it's also possible and perhaps even common (as these things go) to see a dad-to-child link in terms of ASD symptoms.
if there is an infectious element to certain severe forms of ASD, as has been implied by studies of Tuberous Sclerosis and other similar brain diseases, it's not beyond the scope of imagination that we'd start to see some dads 'n kids getting sick and not just Moms.
:(
i feel awful for this family but at least scientists and doctors have to face facts as a result of their medical records...
Short version, TLDR version:
the dad of the kid who got thrown off the bridge suffered an autoimmune disease that has been linked to the infectious model (theory) of autism :(
to this point it's been suggested that mainstream medicine accepted only a link between mom and kid in terms of immune abnormality etc.
but some scientists understood years ago that they were seeing a strong correlation also between infected dads and asd kids. the polyomaviruses are only one part of this and i think people are getting closer to figuring it all out.
it's still a goddamn heartbreak.

Abstract
Autism is a highly heritable behavioral disorder. Yet, two decades of genetic investigation have unveiled extremely few cases that can be solely explained on the basis of de novo mutations or cytogenetic abnormalities. Vertical viral transmission represents a nongenetic mechanism of disease compatible with high parent-to-offspring transmission and with low rates of disease-specific genetic abnormalities. Vertically transmitted viruses should be found more frequently in the affected tissues of autistic individuals compared to controls. Our initial step was thus to assess by nested polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and DNA sequence analysis the presence of cytomegalovirus (CMV), Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV1), herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV2), human herpes virus 6 (HHV6), BK virus (BKV), JC virus (JCV), and simian virus 40 (SV40) in genomic DNA extracted from postmortem temporocortical tissue (Brodmann areas 41/42) belonging to 15 autistic patients and 13 controls. BKV, JCV, and SV40 combined are significantly more frequent among autistic patients compared to controls (67% versus 23%, respectively; P < .05). The majority of positives yielded archetypal sequences, whereas six patients and two controls unveiled single-base pair changes in two or more sequenced clones. No association is present with the remaining viruses, which are found in relatively few individuals (N <or= 3). Also polyviral infections tend to occur more frequently in the brains of autistic patients compared to controls (40% versus 7.7%, respectively; P = .08). Follow-up studies exploring vertical viral transmission as a possible pathogenetic mechanism in autistic disorder should focus on, but not be limited to, the role of polyomaviruses.

Abstract
In the central nervous system, basement membrane (BM) constituents are predominantly associated with the vasculature. However, under inflammatory conditions, the expression of BM components may alter. Here, we investigated the distribution of several BM components, including laminin, collagen type IV and heparan sulfate proteoglycans in various multiple sclerosis (MS) lesions. We observed irregular and discontinuous BMs in active lesions. Throughout active MS lesions, we found dense networks of BM proteins, which were surprisingly not associated with the cerebrovasculature. These striking parenchymal networks were not observed in chronic inactive MS lesions and brains of non-neurological controls. In addition, we studied the distribution of transforming growth factor-beta1 (TGF-beta1), since it is known as a major modulator of ECM production. Leukocytes, in particular CD68-positive macrophages, expressed high levels of TGF-beta1 and were located in close proximity to parenchymal BM deposits in the MS lesions. We postulate that these BM networks may play a role in the further recruitment of inflammatory cells and form a barrier for axonal regeneration.

Thank you. Many of us have no contact with the autism issue. It needs to be more public.
Tesla why don't you write a book about it? Format like so many of your posts: left brain stats, photos and right brain, heart felt passages. You could do it; really!!!

I have pretty extreme forgetfulness for someone my age, which makes the idea of putting a book together kind of hard --
at best I hope that doctors will see that much of the work they've already done supports some of these newer theories,
and they are not far from helping the kids...
and also I apologize for drawing attention away from the boy who died.
it's important to give light to the underlying situation but also proper to give some space and distance to those who suffered.

Is it a kind of dream,
Floating out on the tide,
Following the river of death downstream?
Oh, is it a dream?
There's a fog along the horizon,
A strange glow in the sky,
And nobody seems to know where you go,
And what does it mean?
Oh, is it a dream?
Bright eyes,
Burning like fire.
Bright eyes,
How can you close and fail?
How can the light that burned so brightly
Suddenly burn so pale?
Bright eyes.
Is it a kind of shadow,
Reaching into the night,
Wandering over the hills unseen,
Or is it a dream?
There's a high wind in the trees,
A cold sound in the air,
And nobody ever knows when you go,
And where do you start,
Oh, into the dark.
Bright eyes,
burning like fire.
Bright eyes,
how can you close and fail?
How can the light that burned so brightly
Suddenly burn so pale?

**The Funeral of Boromir
Faramir sees the funeral boat of Boromir.
“‘I sat at night by the waters of Anduin, in the grey dark under the young pale moon, watching the ever-moving stream; and the sad reeds were rustling. So do we ever watch the shores nigh Osgiliath, which our enemies now partly hold, and issue from it to harry our lands. But that night all the world slept at the midnight hour. Then I saw, or it seemed that I saw, a boat floating on the water, glimmering grey, a small boat of a strange fashion with a high prow, and there was none to row or steer it.
‘An awe fell on me, for a pale light was round it. But I rose and went to the bank, and began to walk out into the stream, for I was drawn towards it. Then the boat turned towards me, and stayed its pace, and floated slowly by within my hand’s reach, yet I durst not handle it. It waded deep, as if it were heavily burdened, and it seemed to me as it passed under my gaze that it was almost filled with clear water, from which came the light; and lapped in the water a warrior lay asleep.
‘A broken sword was on his knee. I saw many wounds on him. It was Boromir, my brother, dead. I knew his gear, his sword, his beloved face.
One thing only I missed: his horn. One thing only I knew not: a fair belt, as it were of linked golden leaves, about his waist. Boromir! I cried. Where is thy horn? Whither goest thou? O Boromir! But he was gone.
The boat turned into the stream and passed glimmering on into the night. Dreamlike it was, and yet no dream, for there was no waking. And I do not doubt that he is dead and has passed down the River to the Sea.’”

Tesla, really, you could write a book that becomes a nonfiction best seller. At least try. If you are forgetful, you will get back to it later when the time is right. It's a right brain process not a left brain process. It will be a process of start and stop- always there when you are ready. Before you dismiss it, please dream about it and see what the dreams say.
The niece of my college roommate writes a blog about parenting and I follow it regularly even though I am childless. Read about Tracy: http://cobwebbyhours.com/about/ and a blog entry about peeing outdoors http://cobwebbyhours.com/2014/09/21/all-of-this-nature/. I adore her writing and it might inspire you. She comes from the heart and it has been many years since motherhood has been an important topic in our culture.
Your writing would be quite different but it is time for female issues to come forth. We don't need another government program telling us what to do. We need a menu of options that we can develop for our own situation with some government assistance for the higher costs of raising an autistic child.
Luv ya'

SEARCY, Ark. – Dozens of searchers are combing neighborhoods around the home in Searcy where a 2-year-old child has disappeared.
Police say the child, Malik Drummond, walked away from the home about 5:45 p.m. Sunday. The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports that an Amber Alert was issued a short time later and was upgraded early Monday after initial search efforts in the area were unsuccessful.
Police say Malik is black, stands about 3 feet tall, weighs about 40 pounds and has brown hair and brown eyes. He was wearing brown pants and a blue shirt. Authorities say the child is also autistic.
A spokesman for the Searcy Police Department, Cpl. Steve Hernandez, foul play is not suspected in the toddler's disappearance. Authorities say Malik was home with his father and stepmother when he disappeared.

Volunteers are now searching a creek on the other side of Beebe Capps Expressway for any signs of the child. The Searcy Police Department has moved their command post to the St. Mary Church at Park Avenue and Sowell Street; this is where volunteers need to go first before joining the search.
Corporal Steve Hernandez of the Searcy Police Department said Malik's autism is making the search more difficult as autistic children have the tendency to hide.
Malik was nowhere to be found inside the family home. Foul play is not suspected.
Malik's father says he has no reason to believe he was abducted. He said that Malik's mother was in the bathtub, but got out to check on dinner that was cooking. He said when she got out, however, she did not see the toddler. That's when she reportedly asked his twin sister where he was, and she pointed at a screen door. He added that Malik has never had the tendency to just open the door and walk out.

Hi Tesla --
Thank you for giving this terrible and growing tragedy for many families some attention.
I don't watch TV but it doesn't seem likely that they would be following these families and
reporting on the immense difficulties of dealing with a child with Autism -- though, of course,
there are varying degrees of the illness.
Where I have found interviews with families -- usually connected to the vaccine issue and
Thimerasol/Mercury which I feel has been responsible -- they are amazing in their ability to
speak for the pain and sorrow of the child and the family.
The number of children now suffering this illness is shocking -- and ever more shocking when you look at the higher numbers for male children.
The way things are going in the US today, we seem to be creating illness and new diseases faster than ever.
Meanwhile, there is less and less care for those suffering -- and still no Universal Health Care for citizens in US.
Over and again we hear the lie that the US can't afford it -- !!
Just want to add that here in the US Big Pharma/Vaccine companies have been protected against lawsuits which is also true in the UK.
Families are shut out of courts though here and there they set up some special
courts where some can be heard.
There has long been suspicion of vaccines which seem to have been dumbing down our populations over decades -- while internationally, the wealthiest families continue to work to push vaccines -- Bill Gates, for one.
I recently posted an article re Kenya where women have received vaccines which
have been causing miscarriages.
Long ago, there were suspicions of US in Africa with the polio vaccine which many
think was the cause of AIDS/HIV due to having produced it using monkey glands.
Hard to think these things aren't happening purposefully.
US seems to be practicing terrorism by "coincidence."
Or, more "plausible deniability"?

Thank you for the kind words.
Yes it is true that these unfortunate stories should result in help being given to families with disabled members.
I felt that the woman in the top article had a really judgmental family, and they mostly just said "she needed help" to the media -- well help from whom?
Do they really believe some Dr. has a Magic Pill that's gonna solve Mom's symptoms and also make it easier to watch Jr.?
No.
And on the same note the woman who tried to take a bath, and her kid wandered off -- it's not her fault, it's classic autism.
And yes, most schools and communities would miss and grieve a child in either situation.
But some, sadly, are not equipped to care for them, and they don't miss what they don't know, and they can't grieve for someone who doesn't have friends.
I guess my prayer request ought to encompass the need for public education about autism and the community resources these people will need.
Safety, space, patience, and diversity...

This morning , in the subway, there were 3 late teens with a big board asking for money for Autism Montreal. I bet anything each one had a sibling with autism. I gave, but most people were rushing to work and did not stop. The girl from the group asked why i gave. It was for you Tesla and all the moms with children with autism. And to thank God that my daughter was not too deep in autism and that i could afford the necessary help, even if overworking/overworrying almost killed me.
Yesterday night i tried to explain to my boyfriend what it was to help my kid- total abnegation for years. His comments were "anihilation" to which i answered NO! Abnegation, extremely hard work but little heaviness if any. He could not understand. And i tried to explain what it developed in me too, once over the burden. And he does have an autistic daughter, yet does not understand the mom' s side.
I am giving up trying to explain mom's and kids situations!!!
I have a wonderful daughter, still dysphasic, but it is now light, and no traces of autism. She is a member here, a singer, composer and author, preparing for college
Now, i am pretty sure there many causes creating autism: vaccines, environmental poisoning, EMF poisoning, sometimes genetics, and also mental/emotional/physical shock in early childhood (thinking here of MK Ultra victims for example or similar programs, when they miss their interventions or make mistakes).

Hi Tesla_WTC_Solution, last May, my wife and I went to a "Hypotonic Diet Workshop" where we were given information on the toxicity of Gluten, the toxicity of Lactose, and we were teached on what kind of diet we should be having.
The Workshop was given at the Eastman Spa (Estrie, Montréal, Quebec, Canada), a wonderful place where your health is well taking care of. The main conference was given by Dr. Jacqueline Lagacé (French), author of many books. In her research, Dr. Lagacé studied the Clinical Work of Dr. Signalet, a French (France) researcher.
Two weeks ago, we went back this time for a Yoga Workshop. We talked to the owner of the Eastman Spa, and she said that a young child with autism was healed using this "Hypotonic Diet". The parent of the child were thrill, happy, glad their child was recovering.
I thought that you might be interesting to learn more on Dr. Lagacé research.

(CNN) -- One mall Santa might be getting some coal in his stocking this year.
Last week, Santa Claus and a helper elf from The Shops at Mission Viejo in California turned away a 7-year-old girl with autism and her service dog, a pit bull named Pup-Cake.
According to the Orange County Register, Abcde Santos, who pronounces her first name "ab-suh-dee," and Pup-Cake stood in line for 30 minutes to meet with the unnamed mall Santa. But he declined to meet the girl because he feared the 5-year-old pit bull.
"After the Santos family offered to remove the dog from the area, the building, Santa still refused to see the child," Julie Miller, a family friend who runs a Facebook page dedicated to Pup-Cake and service animals, told the Register.
"Autism is accompanied by many sensory issues, included self-harm behaviors and feeling overwhelmed at times by lights, sounds, especially when waiting," according to the dog's Facebook page. "Pup-cake the service dog's job is to intervene in those moments."
Word of the diss led to a viral campaign, #savePupcakesChristmas, with sympathizers angered over the incident posting comments on the Facebook page for The Shops at Mission Viejo.
The mall posted a statement that said, "We share in your concerns regarding the situation today involving a Santa at The Shops at Mission Viejo. We do not condone the behavior displayed by Santa and have worked with our partners at Noerr, the company that hires our Santas, to replace this Santa with one that is more compassionate to our guests' needs."
