Comet Churyumov-Gerasimenko’s got a big week in store. On Wednesday November 12 at 10:02 a.m. (CST), it welcomes its first visitor in over 4.5 billion years – a jukebox-sized emissary from Earth named Philae (FYE-lee or FEE-lay).
Philae will land at Site J on the comet since renamed Agilka, an island in the Nile River. Philae temple was moved there after the building of the Aswan dam flooded Philae island, the location of an inscribed obelisk that helped break the code of the Rosetta Stone and later chosen for the lander’s name.
