Communications with the STEREO Behind spacecraft were interrupted on October 1,2014 immediately after a planned reset of the spacecraft performed as part of atest of solar conjunction operations. The spacecraft telemetry indicated ananomaly in the guidance and control system, but this is still beingevaluated. No further communications have been successful since Oct. 1st.Follow this link (http://stereo-ssc.nascom.nasa.gov/behind_status.shtml)for more information.
The STEREO Ahead spacecraft has already successfully tested the transition intoand out of solar conjunction operations. Actual solar conjunction operationswill take place between March 22 and July 14, 2015. STEREO Ahead continues tooperate nominally, and is currently providing our only views of the far side ofthe sun.
Attempts to reestablish communications with the STEREO Behind spacecraft areongoing.
Launched in 2006, the STEREO mission achieved its prime science goals withinthe two-year prime mission, but continues to explore solar and heliosphericactivity through the current solar maxmimum and beyond.
