How does one contact his/hers spiritual guides? I would like to contact them through meditation, but I have not been successful yet.

I just talk to them at any time. I say something like "hey guys! what the hell are you doing not helping me out with this??? Get your butts in gear!" Sometimes I just say "thank you" and I laugh. I know that my "guides" are just another aspect of me....so they also have a rather strange sense of humor.

Maybe we should back up and start by discussing what your concept of a spiritual guide is first.

Are we talking guardian angels? Or an "aspect" of your higher self that you wish to interact with as a separate being? Or perhaps any other highly evolved and purely benevolent individual who whishes to answer your call?

I don't know about you, but I stink at meditation, so I've never had the pleasure of being able to interact with someone like that in a mystical encounter. However, there is something I've been doing to verify a relationship with my guardian angels. It's from some of the advice in Tom T. Moore's book called The Gentle Way. You start small by asking for help with things that might seem trivial at first, like requesting a Most Benevolent Outcome in my search for a good parking space, or in my search for a lost wallet or a lost pair of glasses, and thus far, all of my requests have been successful.

At first, this seems kind of childish; and you may convince yourself that divine intervention has nothing to do with someone leaving a great parking space just before you arrive. But keep doing it, and sooner or later the number of benevolent outcomes compared to the number of failures (zero for me still) will reach a number where it eventually becomes impossible to deny that they are listening and are responding. Once that knowledge of that relationship is confirmed, it only goes up from there. Great book, and some great advice that me and my family have all benefitted from.

Meeting Your Spirit Guides

Lesson 1 - Listening and Viewing

It's time to meet one of your spirit guides.

Today you will ask spirit questions that are not personal, and can be answered by Yes or No.

They may be accompanied by physical sensations on your body such as:

pressure on top of your head - opening of the crown chakra. a sensation on the left side of the body or face. The left side receives, the right side sends. The left side goes to the right side of the brain, the intuitive side.

Before you start, you may sense the presence of your spirit guide.

Find a quiet place, free of distractions. Relax and get comfortable. Clear your mind. Focus on your guide.

Send the thought ... Hello!

You may hear a greeting, but this is not necessary.

Send your Yes or No question telepathically or verbally i.e. Is today Monday?

Relax and allow the answer to come naturally as a thought.

Continue with other non-personal Yes or No questions until you are comfortable. Keep practicing. There is no hurry! Spirit has no 'time' table.

You may also practice this with another guide.

Lesson 2: Getting to Know your Spirit Guide

Prepare paper and pen.

Send the message What is your name?

If you have trouble understanding the name, focus, then come as close to what you hear as you can. Spirit will accept whatever name you give. Names can be long and make have to be shortened. There may be more than one name for a spirit i.e. Spirit Eagle.

Begin a dialogue. Trust what you hear.

Send the message (Name of guide) Are you ready to answer questions?

Wait for an affirmative answer.

Sample questions

Do I know you? Have you ever helped me? If so, how? How many spirit guides do I have? What is the purpose of our connection? Are you my twin flame? What is my mission? Are you my only spirit guide? How many guides do I have? Other

Lesson 3 - Other Lifetimes Together

Prepare questions. Get comfortable. Greet your spirit guide.

Sample questions

Did we know each other in another lifetime? How many lifetimes have we been connected? In what relationship? Have we ever reversed rules where I was your spirit guide while you lived on the Earth plane? Have you always been in my life in this incarnation? Other

Lesson 4 - The Universe, Creation, Reality

Prepare a set of questions pertaining to the Universe. Take your time over as many sessions as needed.

Sample questions:

Explain reality. How big is the universe? How and when was it created? Is there life on other planets? Do entities watch us from UFO's or other places? Did I know you in an alien form? Are there angels? Who is God? (Close your eyes and think Show me!) Are there many/any dimensions? (Close your eyes and think Show me!) Can a soul exist in more than one dimension? Does the future co-exist with the past and present? Do we have free will?

Lesson 5 - Getting Personal With Your Guide

By now you should feel comfortable with your guide and able to differentiate his/her thoughts from your own.

You may have met more than one guide by this time and learning about the many ways each one guides you.

In the follow lessons try asking personal questions, but remember now to censor the answers based on personal needs.

Spiritual Questions ::

Am I on the right spiritual path? Will you guide me to the next part of my spirit journey? Should I be working as a healer? Will you lead me to a book or home page to further learn what I have to? Is my current teacher good for me? Should I seek another? Do I need to move to a new location to find my destiny? Suggestions? Do I need to travel to fulfill my destiny? Where? Is this another aspect of my soul experiencing in this reality now?

Lesson 6 - Biological, Adopted, or Foster Family Relationships

Your greatest karma (learning lessons and responsibilities) are with your family or those close to you who are like family to you. Sometimes these people remain in your life forever and other times they stay for a while and move on.

Sample questions:

Are members of my biological family from my past lives? Ask for names and other information If adopted or had foster parents - use this for biological and adopted family members. Questions about the members of your family in relationship to you and to each other. Determine is a deceased family member is a guide to you. Generally they are not, but may linger around and be sensed as guiding in some way. Is my main karma in this lifetime to be the caretaker of (name person - usually the parent). If you believe you are a walk- in, ask about all family members - theirs and yours.

Lesson 7 - Your Career and Job

Most people change jobs or careers in a lifetime, many returning to school. Spirit guides have a tendency to guides these changes for the better.

Sample questions:

Do I have a chosen career or am I here as a searcher? Is the career I have chosen a lifetime career? Can I find a career that I am passionate about? I want to work in Metaphysics. Can I earn a living working in that field? Can I work part time in metaphysics? Will I have jobs or should I go to school and train for a career? Is my job a dead-end or will it improve? get promoted? more money? Does my boss appreciate my work? Am I being back stabbed at work? Should I begin an affair at work? Women: Would I truly be happier at home raising a family and changing diapers? Would I be happier working part time? Can I support myself with two part time jobs? Am I best suited to be ... create a list of desired job choices. Should I start my own business? alone? with a partner? Will my business merge? Evolve into something else? Fail? Will my race / ethnic background, etc. impede my chances for finding my suited career? - help my career? Am I settling for less than I could be because I have emotional problems, low self-esteem or learning disabilities? Am I smarter than I realize? Could I succeed in school after years of absence? Can I work from home? Choices ...

Lesson 8 - Your Love Life

You are ready to ask questions about your love life. Now this is where things get tricky as the ego always kicks in here and you want to connect with The One.

Sample questions if you have a partner now

Is my partner my soul mate? Are we together because we have karma to work out? In what way? Where does the karmic debt lie? Is my partner for the rest of my life? Will I have another? Is my partner growing spiritual as I am? Have we grown apart? Am I holding on to a relationship that is over? Does my partner still love me? Does my self esteem make me remain in this relationship? Why do I stay with my partner? Finances? Family? Afraid to live alone? Other?

Sample questions if gay

Is there a reason I came in gay? genetic? karmic? Was I prejudiced in a past life? Are there learning lesson here? Does my soul prefer a male - (or female) role? Is this the first time I came in gay? Am I a gay male to hold female frequency, which I would not be able to do if I was straight? Am I afraid to admit that I am gay?

Sample questions if single

Will I ever marry? Will I live wit someone? Will I find a soul mate? Does my soul mate exist on the Earth plane? Will I marry? - live with someone - ? Will I wind up alone? Do I need therapy to maintain a relationship? Do I sabotage relationships? Will I ever have a child? Is my destiny other than marriage and children? As my guide, can you bring me a partner? Does working with rituals help manifest partners? Would my soul's needs best be met by living alone? with a mate? I have searched for a partner all of my life. I am now 40 and have never met the perfect partner. Is this because I am too picky or I really don't have a partner out there?

Lesson 9 - Your Love Life

Only the first answer is the correct answer.

Guides don't just tell us what we want to know. In the beginning, I felt lost and I had a lot of questions. My guides answered some questions, but mostly they guided me through how to answer the questions myself. I don't have many questions now, because of what they have taught me, so now it's primarily about love. They continue to guide me, they tell stories, they do cool paranormal things, they protect me, they dance with me when I'm dancing alone at home and they have a great sense of humour.

I don't agree with NancyV that all my guidance is aspects of me -- at least, not until such time as I should fully realize the One. At that point all my guidance would indeed be fully me.

But there's an interesting related issue here. Whenever you or I happen to be listening to or following some guidance or other, if we see that guidance as being external to ourselves (at least in part) then it is 100% we ourselves who is guiding us to accept that guidance as valid, n'est pas?

Then there's the question of do we currently have such a thing in us yet as a reliable Inner Guidance of our own? If we don't, how can we really make good use of any guidance that we pereceive as external?

And this is not to even mention how our current limited knowledge and concepts may be valid within their limits, but probably don't apply with much validity at all, I suggest, to that which is wholly beyond time and space, or that which is quite indivisible, for instance, or that which is infinite. Those realms break all our supposedly binding rules about how reality supposedly works.

Hi everyone, thank you for the lovely insights. I really appreciate it! I will take a look at all the suggestions, and see how it goes. Just a quick update though, and I might be over thinking here, but I saw a dream yesterday that a dog transformed into a bird; the dog seemed to be friendly, but I was shooing it away, and it transformed into a bird and flew away. A couple of days ago, I saw a hound of angry dogs attack me and bite me, so that is why I wanted to know if I was being told something by my spirit guides. Interesting though, before yesterday's dream, I found a feather in my bed (not sure where it came from), and I saw the dream about the bird! Maybe I am over thinking??

Not sure if there is any meaning to all these dreams or they are just random series of dreams. That is why I wanted to contact the spirt guides, but the message remains elusive.

I know another way people have been able to establish contact. Whether or not it's feasible probably depends on one's life situation.

Dolores Cannon was able to train quite a lot of people in how to utilize what she labeled as a Quantum Healing Hypnosis Technique. (QHHT)

The hypnotist essentially regresses you backwards to some point before you were born, and "calls in the subconscious", which seems to me to be her term for your higher self, and then after making a connection, can ask some precompiled questions and get some insight into some things about a person's life that would greatly assist someone with understanding where they've been, and where they want to go, and what some of the purposes are that they've set for themselves in this lifetime.

Maybe look into whether or not there are any QHHT practitioners anyplace near where you live.

I came close to doing it last fall with someone who was in my city, but they could only do it on a Sunday morning and wanted 400 bucks to do it, and I decided I didn't really have any issues that were drastic enough that I needed to go through with it. It mainly would've been just for the satisfaction of my curiosity. I understand the need to charge people for the service. If you don't make money in the US right now, then you live in a box on the sidewalk.

This may or may not be relevant for you. If it is, cool. If not, then you have that pinch of salt.

I'm going to ask you to be very, very careful about asking for what you're asking for. To qualify: I think that spiritual guides are valuable and in some situations very important parts of our various practices. However, having said that, there is also the very real danger that in asking for something to come into your space, you may end up bringing something into your life that you will later have a very difficult time getting rid of. The indication I'm trying to give you here is this: beware of wolves in sheep's clothing. This is a very, very real danger. I'm not saying this to deter your search, but rather to help you be informed of all the factors involved with this.

I did a lot of things right. I spent time with very qualified elders who guided me through ceremony. I also did a lot of things without the elders knowing about it, or under the guidance of a teacher who may not have had his own stuff together. As a result, I ended up having a few "klingons". They are difficult to get rid of, painful to have to experience, and not something I'd wish on anyone.

If I had to give you any advice what so ever, it would be to seek out the aboriginal people in your area, where-ever you are. It's not a guarantee for success, but the chances are you will find individuals who have been initiated through various practices and culturally and spiritually significant ceremonies. There's a reason why you have to do so many things in certain ways before you're given the privilege of running a sweat lodge, or being a pipe carrier. If you skip some of the steps, or you do them half hearted, you're in for trouble.

Take advantage of what's in front of you, what you have, what your own ancestors did. It takes time, it takes sweat, and it takes effort. I wouldn't change any of it. Don't rush. If you feel the need to have it "now", walk away from it.

You already started the process :)

One must intend to take an action and then engage the will in carrying it out then keep at it. So essentially, once you have sufficient data at your disposal, make a choice and go for it. Don't be frightened of making mistakes! Fear is the biggest obstacle.

In my view, your dreams are showing you that you do not currently have the ability within you to differentiate between truth and untruth. Not consciously anyway. The dreams also tell you that you do have the potential to know.
First, you get attacked. A very real threat. But then, you shoo away a friendly dog. This shows me that you need to develop your trust in your own instincts before you even attempt to contact an outside spiritual force that may or may not be benign.

The beauty of developing your own ability is that one realises there is no need for outside forces for guidance. Your innate ability is your guide.
How does one develop oneself? First look at your experience. Notice when you instinctively make a decision that turns out well. Learn to recognise that feeling. Notice when you think your way into an answer that eventually turns out badly. Remember how the first instinct felt and recognise the thought process that over rode it.
If I'm particularly 'lost' or have a particular request I ask the universe. To me, the reliance on an individual from a different realm to do my bidding and smooth my path is more than a tad creepy. It reminds me of Solomon. Be aware, you will never be able to know for absolute sure that a spirit you contact is from truth. Never.
