Eastern Limb / Flare Activity (November 3)

There is indeed a chance for C-Class flares and perhaps stronger. A pair of C-Class flares (C3.8 and C4.9) have taken place early on Wednesday around the region hiding on the eastern limb. Stay Tuned for further activity.

on the 3rd there is a big flare up, was that an M Class burst from 1121?

it seems when it reached the soho Sat it blanked out part of the image about 6-7 hours from when it started...

How long would it take the burst to reach earth?

not sure how quick it made it but this was the northern lights from that burst...

The next chance for a shot like this could come on Nov. 9th or 10th when a solar wind stream is expected to hit Earth's magnetic field. It's only a minor stream, but often that's enough for a vivid display around the Arctic Circle. High latitude sky watchers should be alert for auroras.

check out the object drifting towards the sun starting on the 5th and passed behind the sun right before the energy release...

is someone setting off these flares as the sun is turning towards us to prevent them from erupting into a direct impact on earth's magnetic field?
