Be warned... this is long and could be complex - read when fresh and perhaps have some coffee!
I am convinced of this solution...
OK, so you find yourself waking up each morning in a world and oh... in a body and the thought pops into your head... ahhh this again.
Yet, after death of the body, you might once again wake up in the morning, open your eyes and see the same world again and be in a body again... sometimes you might have a faint sense you have done this before.
Some nights, when you go to sleep, you find yourself again in a world but not always are you aware of any body – sometimes yes, sometimes no. Sometimes you see you in this other world and even though your mind says. Yes... that is me” you are looking at you as if you are not you... as if you are someone or something else.
Sometimes you might be lying in your bed and though you do not sense any sleep has come upon you, you suddenly sense you are exiting your physical body. You may move around the room or you may move beyond. You may find yourself above your town... floating. You may discover yourself in another paradigm and even find beings you know or find scary beings or beings of love and light.
But then again you wake up and once again, this world and oh yes... this body and then all the memories of this lifetime seems to become available if we wish to pull one or more into our conscious mind once again.
And as we live through a day – we experience people doing things we may like and may dislike. And if we are at all honest with ourselves, we may sometimes see ourselves thinking or saying or doing something we also do not like. Sometimes we do something our mind tells us is “good” and when we do enough of things we see as “good” we are more easily able to convince ourselves that “overall... I am good.”
But I ask myself this. If I am overall good and if I am often doing good things, why do I not always do good things? Why do I sometimes raise my voice where later I see I overreacted? Why do I sometimes make odds high that some terrible outcome will come forth from a specific scenario and then surprise, surprise... it turned out incredibly good even though I could never see the possibility of how!
What is this talk about our minds... that we have a portion of our mind we know as our conscious mind and then supposedly a vast portion of our mind we call the sub conscious and with which most of us are all but totally disconnected from our conscious mind?
What goes on in this vast sub conscious? What part of ourselves exists there and awakens from there?
My opinion is that this sub conscious realm is the region of psyche where deep within reside what C. J. Jung called the archetypes. It is also my opinion that the infamous “Archons” from Gnostic lore may very well be a group of these very archetypes which emanate what most of us experience as “negativity.” Having stated this opinion, I also perceive there be positive archetypes and perhaps archetypes that share a bit both positive and negative where they may flip flop between the two.
It is also my opinion that whatever I may experience that I might label at the time of the experience as good or bad (positive or negative) is only my subjective view. I may make a good case to others that something is truly good or something is truly bad, but if anyone agreed or not, that still is all and only their subjective opinion.
It is my opinion (though I clearly am not the first human being to hold this opinion) that these archetypes are a part of the grander Me. I cannot extract these archetypes if I wanted to as long as I exist in this world and perhaps as long as I exist in any dynamic of form where there is a veil dividing aspects of my complete consciousness.
This last statement now causes me to state another opinion. The opinion relates to the question “Who am I.” At this time my answer is as follows. I am three. I am Big Me (the All that Is with the knowing that all other manifestations of Life are also This), I am Sam, this human being who is living this one lifetime and I am what I currently have unnamed but which is this – The individuated spark of Life that proceeded my current material realm lifetime and which I hope continues after this current lifetime.
It could be looked at like this
I am Sam
I am the unnamed spirit from which Sam sprang
I am the All that Is from which the unnamed spirit sprang
From this view (which was inspired by my studies of ancient traditions known under an umbrella label called “Gnostic”) I envision the realm of the archetypes as follows:
I am [put a name of an archetype here]
And here we distinguish between three origins – I will call them Root X, Root Y and Root Z and each create their own Branch X, Y or Z.
Root X creates Branch X.
Root X/Branch X -
I am the [unnamed] that generated this Branch X [put a name of an archetype here]
I am the Aeonic Parent (Parent of Root X and creator of Branch Y) that generated the [unnamed] that generated these Branch X archetypes and I am also an archetype. Thus I am responsible for the creation of both Root X and Branch X and the creator of Branch Y.
I am one of the many levels of Aeons where my last level generated the Aeonic Parent of [unnamed]. Note: each level of Aeonic creation was performed by co-creative Aeonic “emanations” which metaphorically could be seen as female and male.
I am the All that Is from which the Aeons sprang and which also is represented by an archetype. This is Root Z and Branch Z.
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
I am now going to copy and paste the above and replace the various actors with “names” and “functions.” The names serve as personifications of a principle or an archetype.
I am [The Villain] (a Branch X archetype)
I am [the Demiurge] that generated the villain archetype.
I am Sophia, the Aeonic Parent that generated the Demiurge that generated these Branch X archetypes and I am also an archetype, Sophia - Passion (when “falling”) and Wisdom (when “arising”). Thus I am responsible for the creation of both Root X and Branch X and the creator of Branch Y.
I am one of the many levels of Aeons where my last level generated the Aeon Sophia which generated the Demiurge. Note: each level of Aeonic creation was performed by co-creative Aeonic “emanations” which metaphorically could be seen as female and male.
I am the Pleroma [the All that Is] from which the Aeons sprang and which also is represented by the archetype, Christos. This is Root Z and Branch Z.
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Now for some further exploration -
Sophia as an archetype has phases of being. Initially She created and through her passion metaphorically “fell” (Her consciousness entered) into the material realm creation. She also created the being, the Demiurge which created what are known as “The Archons.” Since she is “inside” creation she is seen as “trapped.” Some who call themselves Gnostics believe that Her liberation depends on her Unification with the archetype Christos and that when She does this, she is liberated to be Her true “Self” which is Wisdom.
The archetype of the Demiurge is best described as “the one and only God.”
It is the view of some Gnostics that for this task to be accomplished a “son” of the Demiurge must come forth via this very Demiurge – This being is the archetype of the Principle of Light. This is the archetype Christos... the “son” (Sun as in Light) of the Demiurge (darkness) but which is all and only of the Light thus all and only of the Pleroma (All and only Good, Love and Highest Knowledge).
My view is that the archetypes are not bound by time and thus the only way they can “experience” is... through us as material realm beings!
None of the above “story” do I take literally. What this story points to (to me) is the importance in each one of us experiencing (and then making permanent) what is known as the Hieros gamos (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hieros_gamos). It does not have to be performed physically... it does have to occur within one’s heart to achieve gnosis (alchemical transformation).
Hieros gamos or Hierogamy (Greek ἱερὸς γάμος, ἱερογαμία "holy marriage") refers to a sexual ritual that plays out a marriage between a god and a goddess, especially when enacted in a symbolic ritual where human participants represent the deities.
The notion of hieros gamos does not presuppose actual performance in ritual, but is also used in purely symbolic or mythological context, notably in alchemy and hence in Jungian psychology.
So my solution to the suffering in my world is this.
I seek to experience (and join in Sacred Marriage within me) the archetypes of Sophia and Christos (Hieros gamos) and their archetypal children. My opinion as to an important practice that assists my achievement of this goal is by “feeding back through” the “energetic food” which these archetypes “eat.” As the metaphor of eating goes... those who eat grow stronger and those who don’t grow weak and perhaps perish. So my solution says – “Feed the food that is desired by the archetypes I wish to strengthen so that I am also strengthened in the areas of being I wish to strengthen and the darker archetypal “beings” can either adapt to this form of energetic food or perish.
I am also of the opinion that this “saying” applies to the archetypes – “You are what you eat.” If this proves true and we feed back to these archetypes the “energetic foods” which most of us might call “positive” and “loving” and “full of enthusiasm for wisdomatic living... appreciative of others same right to the same vital form of living, then the darker archetypes would transform. We would essentially change the entire dynamic of the realm of the archetypes which are intrinsically linked through our own psyche and thus would transform our experience and unite Sophia with Her Highest Self (Pure Wisdom).
Even the Demiurge could choose to adapt to the new food supply and if so, even Jehovah transforms and through this transformation... all his children – the darker archetypes.
From this solution comes the view that it is each of us who are daughters/sons of the Pleroma through Sophia and the Demiurge and so my imagination, my desire... indeed my will says... “Then perhaps each of us hold the solution in our own hands and now is the time we apply it.”
I am convinced of this solution...
