Hi Mu2143, I do believe this is an actually photograph, as I have seen the moose up north here in Ontario., and believe me, you stand very still when you hear them crashing through the woods. The one I saw fairly close by a few years ago was tall enough for me to almost walk right under his belly, and I am 5' 8" tall!
in love & light

Mu2143,
I know a guy who works in Toronto but has a cabin a lot farther north. He gets a license to hunt ONE each year and that feeds his family meant for the subsequent year. They are so big that the initial butchery in the field is done with a modified chainsaw!

Wow, that guy is huge! It looks the size of an elephant! A few years ago, we had a really severe winter here (northern BC) and about 18 moose came into the town looking for food. They were wandering the streets and people's yards (munching on their trees and shrubs!) for a few weeks. Two slept on our front lawn one night, under some trees, 15 feet from the house. That was the first time I saw them up close and personal. Even ones of average size are pretty darn large. They look so gangly and mellow when you see them strolling along, but I was warned that if you tick them off, or if they are with their young and feel confronted, they can move like lightning and their kicks are lethal.
If those pictures are real, that would have been *quite* an extraordinary sight!!

It seems to me that if you compare the 2 pictures, the rump of the moose in the second photo is at an unreasonably higher level to the tree than it is in the first photo, where as it should be lower or at least the same.
And you can see that the photo is from the same persepctive because the rock across the road is in the same position.
And it has no shadow.
And seriously, if you saw a giant moose wouldn't you take a sh*tload of photos? Maybe even film it?
I'd love to think that there are giant moose out there - but in this case my feeling is photoshopped.

Not a real Moose. Photoshopped. My actual expert opinion. Yes. The Moose, not adobe.

I was born in Kapuskasing, Ontario....trust me...I've seen cars totalled by hitting a moose, and the moose is still fine.
I have a picture of my daughter standing under a "danger moose" sign that are found along the the northern highways....
yep....from a northern Ontario gal...it's a moose lol

that is the largest moose ever recorded and it is nowhere near as big as the photoshopped beastie. The beastie in the photos (in this thread) is about 2 tonnes, and 12 feet at the shoulder.. and literally cannot exist, it's too big for it's body design.
It is also bigger in the second photo when it is further away.
