I plan to leave facebook before the end of the year due to their new privacy policy. On 1st Jan 2015 facebook's new terms and conditions come into force allowing them and the CIA, FBI, NSA, GCHQ etc to access any and all information to collect info from not only your facebook page but from your computer, phone and any other device that you access facebook from. I will be going here under a different name probably.

Many alternative sites are stating to migrate to this.

Synchronicity! I just posted on facebook today saying it's rather difficult to get out of facebook and that this is one reason i would want to try. Can you inform me how to proceed?

Hi :) You can't close down your account. Your option is to leave it inactive. Was just thinking of the alternative site mentioned but doubt there is a protected zone anywhere online. I've shut down facebook, spotify etc etc.. but if you use anything google , and probably everything else, it is just ever out of sight so to speak.. I leave it out of mind and make my choices but we signed the dotted line and they push the agenda with rhetoric's that leaves you gobsmacked!

I will be joining seen.is in the next week. I will be sending out invites to friends or anyone who asks as well as to alternative news sites such as activist post and we are change and so on.
In addition to seen.is there is also unseen.is which has private chat, groups and forums and so on. https://unseen.is/
Also, I recommend keeping an eye on Blocknet.
http://theblocknet.com/
Its a sort of crypto currency but it will allow a platform for websites, chats and so on to be built inside the blocknet where it will be 100% safe from snooping.
Its also worth getting a mailbox from http://www.autistici.org/en/services/mail.html

I will be downloading all of my facebook profile and then deleting it.

If they wanted to know if you clipped your toe nails this week .. they can, regardless of having a facebook account or a you-tube account or twitter or any other organization thats criminally ensuring a dependency that will throw mankind off balance if switched off for a week.

These new rules will simply help the fat cats know everything they need to know for uses of selling and controlling our desires and basically running us into each other like we are all living inside an 'etch a sketch' and they have the control buttons.

You think they cannot already do this? Unless you are a computer wiz with awesome firewalls, the alphabet agencies can access anything theyd like on your computer or device.
I personally have signed up for seen.is and ello and diaspora, but unfortunately none have the popularity of facebook, and there for not many friends. Out of all of them though Seen.is is my favorite look and usability.
I honestly use facebook mostly for posting important news or conspiracy type stuff for all my friends and family who would otherwise not be exposed to that sort of thing, and who probably won't sign up for some other social media site.
So well yes my posts probably raise red flags, or put me on some sort of list, I am willing to do that to keep spreading the turth.

Is anyone else on seen.is? I am thinking of starting an Avalon group. There are already loads of "alternative" groups on there. It seems like the place to be for types like us with regards to social networking sites.

There is one Avalon group already: https://seen.is/group/1799. Maybe Bill wants to have an official page there [i don't think so]?

I've been watching their growth in members for two days, and it's been 10,000 more, daily. Let's see if this goes on.

Am considering the "unseen" side of it. If you do, complete their member's survey - lifetime is only half the price then!
