poetic justice! I cant tell you how much I enjoyed this article from WakeUpFromYourSlumber

A man from Lovech Oblast in Bulgaria returned his mortgaged house to the bank in the most novel manner. He spent his money to demolish his family home. The house was mortgaged and the family was unable to pay the mortgage. The mortgage was on the house but didn’t include the land on which the house was built, so the family decided to demolish the house and return it to the bank, loading the rubble onto a truck which was then brought to the head office of the bank.

Once there, the family pleaded with the bank and asked them not to take their home, but were told by the bank manager that the bank does not make exceptions. On hearing this, the man grinned and instructed his brother-in-law, the truck driver, to spread the rubble in front of the bank, which he did while also honking the truck’s horn at the bemused staff inside.

no, the original article is in Bulgarian I will take the time later translate with bing to see if I can find out and share when I get a chance. This is the link to the original story http://www.dnesplus.bg/News.aspx?n=633307 and this was where I found it http://wakeupfromyourslumber.com/bulgarian-man-returns-mortgaged-house-to-the-bank-in-style/

Also found in the comments section of the article this reply "Kind of reminds me of this guy in Florida who went and bought a new car for 15,000 bananas because the Newspaper ad said that., He won in court for bringing a truck full of bananas to the car dealer"

All laws are written to protect wealthy 'property' owners. He'll likely be sued for damage to bank property. It's difficult to escape or challenge the grip of the art of black money magic. Great jester though

The crucial feature is that the land was not a part of the mortgage, this presents a legal conundrum because a building stands on land - so if the man owned the land outright he is perfectly within his rights to remove a structure standing on his land, if the bank cannot remove the house whole - he has the right to remove it as best he can. This is a common law kind of deal, I'm sure there are precedents in every country. If the bank had owned the land also, not so easy. Interesting.
