"...and realized that the things of the occult were not leading to any form of positive personal or spiritual gain as the New Age Movement promotes."

The "New Age Movement" is not written down on some pamphlet and passed out at protests or concerts. It is a lot larger and harder to define than simple statements like this tend to imply. IMHO

The New Age is as much about all the people out there who bring something new to the table for us to consider, as it is about the information itself. And we on Avalon can all fire off dozens and dozens of names of our favorite authors and internet personalities who we would probably place in the category of contributors to New Age thought. Just because you latch onto one of them, and get fed some disinformation is not suitable grounds to dismiss the whole concept of new age thought. Just ask fans of David Icke from the nineties. :-)

Some people are naturally drawn to the path of the adept. I have a few friends who are self-proclaimed "witches," that go to "witch stores" (!) and buy potions and try their luck casting spells, etc. These are people who are drawn to the novelty of there being more to reality than meets the eye, but do not even begin to understand the kinds of things they are getting into. It's all fun and games to them. And when they start to get results, it's even more hilarious and whacky.

No amount of warning them does any good, either, as they're screwing around with energies they don't understand while also at the same time thinking that it's not real and can't hurt them. They're very much still "asleep," but have managed to discover occult abilities. IMO this is a very dangerous combination.

The path of the adept, IMO, requires a lot of inner-work beforehand and is NOT necessarily a "dark, evil" thing. But without knowing yourself and your intentions, it sure as heck can be! Specifically, again IMO, one needs to understand and seriously explore one's polarity: are you service to self or service to others?

I won't mess around with magic rituals. There are positive and negative energies in this world, and at this layer of the illusion, we have a hard time seeing what's what. I also don't believe they're necessary or required for us to progress spiritually in this realm.

Too bad that this woman now feels the need to trash a broad approach to thinking as being evil or false or something in the name of her preferred religion because her moral compass wasn't properly aligned before she started meddling. But that's her path, and she seems to have found her polarity now, so I wish her the best.

Wanted to share something.

I was once told by a practicing medium not to engage with any spirits whatsoever during astral projection.
Her only caveat was animals spirits are generally safe to talk to.

For years I wondered what she meant until I had my own "experience".

Let me tell you, even if it happens only once or twice over the entire course of a person's life, "hearing voices" from ANY entity, good or evil, is not a fun experience in the modern world.

Even if the Good Lord Jesus decided to dial me up and "talk directly" there is a part of me that would be horribly resentful of the loss of control over my senses.

And we do need to remember the passages in the Bible about knowing our master's voice, that His voice isn't in the "earthquake, thunder, or storm", but is that still small whisper,
quieter than the smallest breath of wind, not a human voice or even the monologue in your head, but rather the gentle and freeing promptings of the human conscience.

It's that conscience, that co-knowing, the internal observer, that is the image of God.

imo.

not some voice or other telling us how to think.

Be careful in the Wider World my friends.

I have had readings from psychics...nothing even slightly life changing ever came from that... I believe some want to be 'special' so much, they get into the business. The 'psychiest' thing I ever got told was by two different psychics, from different countries, in different languages, almost in the same words.. 'You do not belong here. Your body has taken a soul from another place. One day, your people will come for you.'
Still waiting.
