"This site was created by The Black Vault to house 129,491 pages, comprising of more than 10,000 cases of the Project Blue Book, Project Sign and Project Grudge files declassified. Project Blue Book (along with Sign and Grudge) was the name that was given to the official investigation by the United States military to determine what the Unidentified Flying Object (UFO) phenomena was. It lasted from 1947 - 1969. Below you will find the case files compiled for research, and available free to download. "

Project Blue Book had to deal with some fascinating cases and some ones were hard to explain. Ranging from simple sightings to entity reports.

Firstly, Thank You for bringing this to our attention.

BUT please bear in mind (especially the Newbies),

PROJECT BLUE BOOK WAS A SHAM

It may make interesting reading, and there are probably many cases covered which we were not aware of.

However, this project (Meaning this version which we are now allowed to see) was carried out to let the public BELIEVE that the government was seriously investigating the Flying Saucer (UFO) phenomena at that time.
An analogy might be the rich people's accounts - ONE SET FOR THE TAXMAN - THEN THE REAL ONES.

Unfortunately, we will NEVER be allowed to see the REAL ONES (Those which are really interesting).

Remember, only recently the official Whitehouse DENIAL that there is anything to this UFO / ET stuff.

This appears to be the USA response to the UK recent publication of SOME of their UFO records (although they claim that, that is all they have).
Remember, the UK still maintain that Rendlesham was "of no defence significance".......

Just remember in the beginning the USG didn't have all the answers so later on perhaps it was a PR exercise but the reaction of the public what of paramount important since they knew it would be manipulated by other countries for their own benefit. Do the public want to know the truth or just what they have been conditioned to excepting?

Thank you bogeyman! The site has a good search engine. I entered my old hometown of Duluth (which was the site of an Air Force base, a National Guard Airbase, and a major radar installation called the "SAGE" building-a huge nuclear bomb proof concrete building in which the whole interior is supported on massive steel springs-part of NORAD). The search turned up 55 hits. I wanted to see if there was any report on Major General Wayne Gatlin's chasing of a UFO in 1949. In a book on 'weird happenings on the North Shore' General Gatlin is quoted as saying that in 1949 he was scrambled from the base in Duluth in a P-51 and chased an orange ball of light across Lake Superior past the Apostle Islands at the northern tip of Wisconsin. Gatlin was a WWII pilot who ended up commanding the Nat Gd airbase in Duluth and later was the CO of the Minnesota Air Guard so I would say he is a pretty credible witness.

I didn't find any mention of General Gatlin's mission in these files so I have to agree with Boja that surely not everything is included in these disclosures. However, there is a lot of interesting stuff here! I just read on the site about an event first reported by a woman in Tofte, Mn. on the shore of Lake Superior. She called in a report of a UFO headed west. The UFO was captured on radar and on the ground visually at an Air Force radar installation about 20 miles west at Finland, Mn. The UFO was also picked up on radar at the SAGE building in Duluth (about 70 miles south) and was also confirmed visually by troops on top of the SAGE building (both with unaided eyes and through binoculars. Two F-86 jets were scrambled from Duluth to intercept.

When the jets got to the area, the radar showed the jets signature merging with the UFO signature. To the Airmen on top of the SAGE building the UFO appeared to jump vertically over the jets and head west. The F-86 pilots reported circling the area and seeing maybe a reflection but nothing solid. The report from the Air Force 'intelligence' officer was interesting. Due to the discrepancy between the visual and radar information, his conclusion was the incident was invalid. Nothing to see here. (I'm surprised he didn't conclude 'swamp gas'.)

General Gatlin flew his last military mission in a F-4 Phantom in 1986, 42 years after his first mission in WWII. He turned 90 last year. It would sure be interesting to talk to him and/or the Airmen who served back then and get their side of the story. Thanks again bogeyman!

You know there is a good deal of Project Blue records which have never seen the light of day. Capt Ruppelt mentioned in his book Report of UFOS concerning a so called "crackpot" file which mention questionable entity reports and also UFOs and military jet involvements. Some encounters he mentioned have been official confirmed through releases of documents

PLEASE remember folks,
That the U.S. government/military/CIA already had in their possession the downed craft and bodies from Roswell in 1947 (as well as Kingman, Arizona in 1946, and Aztec, New Mexico in 1948).
THEY ALREADY KNEW EXACTLY WHAT "FLYING SAUCERS" WERE.
