View Full Version : Expert Claims China Plans To Replace U.S. As Superpower By 2049?

Article from the New York Post on new book by long time U.S. Govt China Expert Michael Pillsbury, who now believes the U.S. has been duped by China. For decades, the U.S. has been sharing technology that Pillsbury claims the Chinese have evolved beyond anything in the U.S.'s current arsenal.

Thoughts, anyone?

China‘s secret plan to topple the US as the world’s superpower
by Larry Getlen 2/8/2015

In 1995, Michael Pillsbury, an expert on China who has worked with every US president since Nixon and has, he writes, “arguably had more access to China’s military and intelligence establishment than any other Westerner,” was reading an article written by “three of China’s preeminent military experts” about “new technologies that would contribute to the defeat of the United States.”

It was in this article that Pillsbury first saw the term “Assassin’s Mace,” which refers to a weapon from Chinese folklore that guarantees a small combatant victory over a larger, more powerful opponent.

The article described goals including “electromagnetic combat superiority” that would allow for “naval victory,” and “tactical laser weapons” that would “be used first in anti-missile defense systems.” They also discussed jamming and destroying radar and various communications systems, and the use of computer viruses.

In time, Pillsbury began seeing the term “Assassin’s Mace” with regularity in Chinesedocuments.

“In the military context,” he writes, “Assassin’s Mace refers to a set of asymmetric weapons that allow an inferior power to defeat a seemingly superior adversary by striking at an enemy’s weakest point.”

An antique Chinese “assasin’s mace”

At first, Pillsbury writes, he considered these statements aspirational. But as US intelligence analysts translated documents over time, he came to see otherwise. The Assassin’s Mace, he came to believe, was part of a cunning and much broader strategy, a 100-year-long effort to overtake the US as the world’s superpower.

The point of Assassin’s Mace — which, Pillsbury learned, the Chinese were already spending billions of dollars to develop — was to “make a generational leap in military capabilities that can trump the conventional forces of Western powers,” but to do so incrementally, so that by the time they achieved their goal, it would be too late for the US to respond to, much less reverse.

China duped us

In a sense, the new book “The Hundred-Year Marathon” is Pillsbury’s mea culpa. He readily admits that, as a key influencer of US government policy toward China for the past four decades, he had long been one of many in the federal government pushing the US toward full cooperation with China, including heavy financial and technological support, under the belief that the country was headed in a more democratic, free-market direction.

“The Hundred-Year Marathon: China’s Secret Strategy to Replace America as the Global Superpower” by Michael Pillsbury (Henry Holt)

“Looking back, it was painful that I was so gullible,” he writes.

Pillsbury notes that he and many other China experts were taught early on to view China as “a helpless victim of Western imperialists” and that as such, assistance should be provided almost unquestioningly.

Now, he says, he has come to consider this view — which he now believes came about as a result of intentional deception and misdirection on the part of the Chinese — as “the most systemic, significant and dangerous intelligence failure in American history.”

“We believed that American aid to a fragile China whose leaders thought like us would help China become a democratic and peaceful power without ambitions of . . . global dominance,” he writes.

“We underestimated the influence of China’s hawks. Every one of the assumptions behind that belief was wrong — dangerously so.”

“For decades,” Pillsbury adds, “the US government has freely handed over sensitive information, technology, military know-how, intelligence and expert advice to the Chinese. Indeed, so much has been provided for so long that . . . there is no full accounting. And what we haven’t given the Chinese, they’ve stolen.”

China just recently announced a change in education and reference, beginning with something along the lines of outlawing (removal and ban) US textbooks. *

If the Chinese government systems ease the pressure on the citizenry slowly and carefully enough, in the right ways, then they can probably make it there.

Making it there will kill a notable amount of the country's excess population, via chemical and toxic exposure, and so on. Environmental concerns from coming up into the industrial age. The right tactics in the appearance of democratic reforms, very slowly applied, can help them navigate the tricky passage.

At the same time, cold fusion and more is coming on line, so they have the reach in an opening range/field, it is suspected, to get there.

(* Found the reference, a recent article from "Epoch Times". It stated that the idea of doing exactly that is now on the table. So not quite a reality yet, but being talked about, by the given people in charge of that sort of thing, in the Chinese power structure.)

Does he really think it will take another 35 years?

Note that the USA has recently revealed a 100 mile ranged Kinetic Kill weapon, the electromagnetic rail gun.

At 100 miles, it is essentially, 'over the horizon', as 100 miles is effectively 66 ft, or 20 meters below the horizon (8 inches per mile of ocean, regarding earth curvature).

Helps when dealing with ground based laser systems.

from wiki, so it appears it is even worse for a laser vs railgun:

Examples, assuming no refraction:

For an observer on the ground with eye level at h = 5 ft 7 in (1.70 m), the horizon is at a distance of 2.9 miles (4.7 km).

For an observer standing on a hill or tower 100 feet (30 m) in height, the horizon is at a distance of 12.2 miles (19.6 km).

For an observer on the summit of Aconcagua (22,841 feet (6,962 m) in height), the sea-level horizon to the west is at a distance of 184 miles (296 km).

For a U-2 pilot, whilst flying at its service ceiling 70,000 feet (21,000 m), the horizon is at a distance of 324 miles (521 km)

I _very_ strongly suspect this is just bullsh*t.

It's like someone wrote a book in 2002
"Iraq has weapons of Mass Destruction: And is preparing to use them"
It was just lies, lies, lies aimed at creating a climate of fear in which
_yet_more_military_intervention_ could be justified.

There will be a pattern. Next we'll hear CNN/NBC/FOX talking about
the "Chinese Mace" as if it's objective fact.
There will be some Cheney-esque arse-hole talking earnestly about
the dangers to the nation.
And you'll hear this theme over and over and over again .. ad nausea um.
This 'repetition hypnosis' is so successful there are still Americans walking
around today who think Iraq has weapons of mass destruction.

The same bullsh*t is going on right now over 'Russian aggression in Ukraine'
It's all bullsh*t. What Americans are _not_ told is that the regime in Kiev
are actual neo-nazis, funded by the USA to violently bring down the previous
(democratically elected) government. Americans are not told
that the Neo-Nazi's are psychopaths who have been bombing civilian areas,
killing thousands of 'non-combatants' ... err.. women, children, grannies, granddads.
They've found mass burials of executed prisoners in Eastern Ukraine in areas
vacated by the Nazis. ... err... hundreds of people shot in the back of the head
and dumped in a big ditch.
Remember flight MH17 that was shot down over Ukraine?
The Western media immediately blamed Russia. The media has been
silent over this issue since satellite photographs proved that the Nazis
shot down flight MH17. I'm not making this up.
All this is available on the alternative news media.

These stories are not told to the American people, instead they're told of
stories of Russian Tanks and Russian Army Units roaming around Ukraine.
It's all bullsh*t. There's no evidence of Russian Troops in Ukraine, no armoured
tanks... if there were, they'd be pictures all over the CNN/NBC/Fox.

And now... China is a danger ????
The USA has easily the biggest military spending in the world.
The USA's military spending is jaw dropingly huge.
It's spending is greater than the next 10 countries _combined_.
The only country that would dare attack America .... is America.

This 'Assassins Mace' concept is like the central theme to a crime thriller.
It's a plot device, a central theme for the rest of the novel.
It has all the hallmarks of cheap fiction.

I strongly recommend to anyone that hasn't yet discovered and explored
the alternative news media that you do so...

Do not believe the Pentagon's propaganda with regards to China. Remember, the Pentagon likes to over estimate any potential enemies abilities and under estimate their own. Most of the these types of stories are for the consumption of the public so that the military can gain continued support for their programs. China has many internal problems. One the of the biggest that is now starting to come to fruition is the result of the single child policy. As it is beneficial to have a male over a female, millions of females have been aborted. The result is now that China has around 20 million men who will never have wife as there is a female shortage (http://www.forbes.com/sites/china/2011/05/13/chinas-growing-problem-of-too-many-single-men/). What do you do with 20 million men full of testosterone? Do you have civil unrest, put them in the military and point them to the west or south? Another issue is that the recent economic benefits that China has enjoyed, only benefited the 300 million coastal city populations. The other 800 million rural population still suffer from infrastructure issues, low standard of living, and government corruption. (https://chovanec.wordpress.com/2011/01/13/closing-the-gap-between-chinas-coast-and-interior/). Additionally, China has two main languages and around 50 sub-dialects with their own cultural nuances. In the western provinces there are about 100 million Muslims that continue to cause problems for Beijing. China has aligned themselves with Pakistan to not only be a proxy against India but to help them with the Uighur's. (http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/worldviews/wp/2014/05/22/why-chinas-terrorism-problem-is-getting-worse/). The Chinese economy also has many issues. China has no real internal middle class to support its economy as America and Europe. China must rely on exports. China has no natural resources. China's sea shipping lanes are easily stopped, which they are aware of and working to protect. From China's perspective, much like the Russian's they are surround with potential enemies. China has nuclear India with a navy and aircraft carrier to the southwest and Japan to the east. Japan can go nuclear in a matter of months. Japan also has as the world's second largest navy with all U.S. hardware. Finally, there is the Americans. The 21st century will be another American century. Now of course, this is being manipulated by the PTB so that we can have the next big war for. Anyway that's my 2 cents.

We're on the same page...the whole thing reeks.

As far as alternative news, one still needs to be discerning. Look at the mess VT fell for, then RT abetted (http://projectavalon.net/forum4/showthread.php?79788-Putin-Threatens-to-Release-Satellite-Evidence-of-9-11&p=931707&viewfull=1#post931707)both via some brilliant manipulation by Putin. In this case, the propaganda now appears to have been used to good purpose. As we all know, the reverse is traditionally true.

Exactly. Any opportunity to create another reason to scare up more tax dollars for Defense programs while tightening the reigns on democracy, freedom and privacy. Total insanity. The good news is, it appears many on the World's stage are no longer playing along with these charades.

The U.S. (and U.K. for that matter) are being viewed as irrelevant, criminal outcasts. Reminds me of the crazy, aging, has-been Norma Desmond in "Sunset Blvd", except Norma wasn't evil. "Max!"

I was told that China would replace US as main trade backup in the following 20 years back in 1999 by a gems international dealer, and to start learning Chinese because it would be the main language not soon after.
So far what we see is BRICS coming out of the dollar, China buying real estate all over the world with the dollars they have, some countries of the Mercosur besides Brazil (who is part of BRICS) borrowing yens from China to trade in yens with China (Argentina announced something in that line not long ago).
And of course... US printing money as if there is no tomorrow.
The problem with currency is that it has to be backed up by something to have value, or represent the amount of trade that needs it. If US keeps adding currency to the market (not even printing anymore, it is more virtual than ever), and the main players in the world move to a different currency, it will get ugly. US has no enough trade alone to support the amount of US currency already released. This means inflation exploding and if they recall money from the market to cut inflation, it will follow by recession.
(I´m not an economist, just my eyes-opened humble opinion)
