A PROFESSOR who is an expert in ((genetically modified crops)) has been charged with murder over the death of his wife, another professor, at their Klemzig home.
About 10.45pm on Monday, police were called to Thistle Ave, Klemzig, where the woman’s body was found.
The woman’s husband, 53, was arrested at the scene. Detectives questioned the man this morning before charging him with murder.
He has been refused police bail and is expected to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court today.
The man and his wife are part of an Adelaide-based team which is researching ((genetically modified crops)), particularly wheat and barley.
Both have presented papers at international conferences and have had their work published in respected scientific journals.
Neighbours this morning expressed shock at the news.
Margaret Morton, who has lived on the street for 10 years, said the couple were quiet and friendly.
“They have always seemed very nice, they’re from one of the countries that were freed from the Soviet Union,” she said.

“They were highly educated, they were both professors. They were both studying, or doing research at the Waite Institute, the one up at Urrbrae. They were studying some form of agriculture.
“They bought their place three or four years ago and it was new.
“I’ve only spoken to her a couple of times and she was a really nice lady, they have a daughter and a son, and at one stage they had a niece staying with them and they just seem to be part of Adelaide life.
“They went out together, they went to the beach, they went to Fringe things and things like that, they were really, really nice people.
“So, I got a bit of a shock when I heard this morning.
“When they first came she suggested we go around for a barbecue but that never eventuated. She used to wave to me when she put the rubbish bins out.
“I never spoke to him but I did wave to him a couple of times.”
Ms Morton said the couple did not seem like they would fight and she had never heard any altercations coming from the house.
“They seemed to be a nice, normal couple,” she said.
“They have friends call, they had a party there a few weeks ago.
Another neighbour, Fidias Vasquez, said he had moved in next door to the couple about 10 months ago.
He said he did not see or hear anything last night, until the police arrived.
“I saw the cops later in the night,” he said.
As neighbours, he said the couple was “very good, very quiet” and kept to themselves, but had introduced themselves when he first moved into the street.
“They were pretty quiet, pretty peaceful, just regular people.”
He said he felt “a bit sad” and was shocked at what had happened right next door.

Apologies to those who find this post a little insensitive, BUT I have absolutely NO RESPECT those who willingly go out of their way to harm others with their ((GMO POISON)) and get paid handsomely to do so...:nono:
